Well this seems to be a good thread for the topic, so... What's your style? I'm pretty good at music recommendations. (The hard part is getting me to shut up...)
Start with genre, then get into specifics of what kind of music you like.
In all seriousness, it's totally NOT about what I like.
Instead, it's totally about what I believe brings glory and honor to God/Christ.
For example, I look to how the angels and the 24 elders worship before the throne of God in the book of Revelation, and then compare it today's "worship music", and there's almost never any sort of correlation at all.
Or I look to the Psalms, which I've read many, many times, and I compare them to today's "praise and worship", and there's sometimes a seeming match (at least in words, but not always in music).
Or I imagine what type of hymn Jesus and the disciples sang after the Last Supper, and I compare that to today's "Christian music", and I'm thinking "Ummm...no!"
Anyhow, that might not be much of a help, but what I'm basically saying is that the word of God is my standard for actual praise and worship.
Here's something interesting...
Do you know when the word "worship" first appears in the Bible?
It first appears here:
Genesis chapter 22
[
1] And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
[
2] And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
[
3] And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
[
4] Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
[
5] And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass;
and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you,
[
6] And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
You know the rest of the story.
Abraham and Isaac weren't headed up to Mount Moriah to sing a slow song, yet they went there to "worship".
My point?
There's A LOT more to "worship" than just some music and lyrics.
Anyhow, I like this song because it matches the type of worship before the throne of God in heaven as is depicted in the book of Revelation:
