SO...You're saying that unions are "anti-American" in one breath, then turning around and saying "unions in public sector jobs should be illegal" in the very next breath?

I came here to try and come to understand right wingers a little better, but I cannot seem to be making any sort of headway here.....

The Constitution of the United States, very specifically protects the right to assemble and to associate! It's in the very first amendment to the constitution!

You want to make it ILLEGAL for certain people (public sector employees) to associate and assemble with each other? And you call THEM anti-American?

Oy vey...
And there you see a major flaw in the conservative platform ... they are all for freedom, as long as it benefits THEM. If freedom benefits someone else, then that particular freedom should be taken away.

If you can not see that ALL increase in production cost is a contributor to price increases you are blind.
If you did not get a raise, you did not contribute, but those who did, did contribute.
As for gas prices, a lot of people are to blame, including the oil companies, the retailers and of course everybody's favorite president.
OOOORRR....is it that the rising prices (caused by rising corporate CEO pay)....has in turn, caused wages to rise in recent years?

Again. It is impossible for stagnant wages to cause prices to rise! Rather, rising prices FORCES wages to rise, because people can no longer afford to feed or house themselves. Literally, that's been professed throughout this very thread! The cost of housing is way out of hand, and people cannot survive.

That's why demands for better wages by the workforce has been a thing for the past two years. How you going to work for someone, but not be able to pay your bills? You can't. So people have no choice but to leave low-wage jobs. Low-wage jobs are still necessary. What? McDonalds just gonna give up and fold because nobody can or wants to work for $7.25/hour anymore? I don't think so! What McDonalds will do, is raise wages in order to attract new workers to keep their doors open!

Higher housing prices forced wages to climb.

I already understand you, and your leftist, destructive ideology well enough.

All I want to do now is utterly defeat every last one of you that have destroyed the greatest nation on Earth.
So.....instead of addressing the argument which proved you wrong, you instead attempt to make an enemy where no enemy is even present......

Maybe I can help you understand the difference in right winger and left wingers,
Us right wingers believe in individual freedom. We can do it ourselves. Don't need your help.
Left wingers believe all are week, stupid, unable to care for themselves and need the government, unions, psychologist to take us by the hand, and lead us down the right path.

BUT your union will not allow me to do so, and that is my objection.
Look, you got taken advantage of by a bad union. I get it. They're out there.

But to take your singular experience and then paint them all as bad shows a disturbing lack of understanding and discernment.

And that's how we get presented choices like Biden v Trump. People think "Oh Trump is against abortion so he's ALL good!". Failing to discern that beyond that one thing, he's a bad apple. Likewise Biden ... well I can't think of one good thing about him, other than he isn't trump. But people will likewise glom onto that one thing and fail to discern everything else that makes him bad.

Your experience with a bad union does not negate my experience with a good one. And to take ONE bad thing and then apply it blindly to all is, like I said, an indicator of lack of discernment.

You need to keep up.
McDonalds is paying $14 per hour to start.
That has cause all other employers to raise their starting pay.
Every place I go, I see signs asking for help with sign on bonuses and $14 to $20 per hour to start.

Bingo!

"I disagree with what you say but will fight to protect your right to say it" has become "I disagree with what you say and you MUST DIE!"

Ok, since we are going way off-topic here and can't seem to address the argument, I am going to put this here:

[OT]

The world isnt black-and-white. Your god created the colors of the rainbow, remember.

Your argument is extremely generic, at best. "We are for freedom!" What does that even mean? You are "for freedom?"

You...DO know that you are only as "free" as the strength of the law, and the enforcement of said law allows you to be....right...?

And with that, comes a whole slew of subtlety.

"Freedom isn't free" is a typical right-wing statement. And it isn't wrong! "Freedom" comes with certain responsibilities. And a big part of that responsibility, is to stop demonizing your fellow humans. As Jesus once said:

"He who is without sin, cast the first stone."

"Judge not, lest thou shalt be judged."

Your job is not to name-call, erroneously judge, or pack people in tiny little rhetorical boxes. Your job, as a Christian, IS to give a helping hand!

Feed the hungry
Clothe the naked
House the homeless
Care for the sick
Visit the prisoner

Instead, you're here tearing people down, and exalting yourself above all others.

I'm not a Christian, so I don't have to follow the rules about not judging others. But I'm not calling you names or demonizing you. I'm offering constructive criticism here.
[/OT]

Now. Back on topic.

Banning unions would be a clear violation of the first amendment, as well as personal freedoms and human rights. You cannot make it illegal for people to band together and form workers' unions.

Yup. It's $14/hour now in some location. Because. Again. People can it work for $7.15/hour! So they won't. Which forced McDonald's to raise their wages in certain areas where rent has climbed to 2 grand/month.

Please. Do try and keep up.

Seeing how you say you are not a Christian, this is the ONLY thing you need. You came to this site to cause trouble, but maybe the Lord wants you to be here to hear THIS:

THE Gospel unto Salvation:
God wrapped Himself in human flesh in the form of His Son, Jesus the Messiah. Conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin. He suffered, was crucified, and died to pay OUR sin debt. He was raised to life from the grave to prove He had defeated death. If you confess Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that His Father resurrected Him to Life on the 3rd day, you WILL be saved. You will be filled, and sealed with the Holy Spirit, who will empower ALL to turn from their sins. The sin of adultery, lying, stealing, homosexuality, gossip, slander, drunkenness, covetousness, etc... And most importantly the sin of DEAD works, or a moral life in an attempt to EARN Salvation. He will also equip you to love like He did and do good works for HIS Glory.

I have never said unions should be banned.
If you feel you need a union, you should have that choice.
But, your right dose not, should not take away my right to say no.
Neither should your union's contract take away my right to ask and receive a pay scale above yours if my employer believes my skill and productivity deserves that raise.

Do you really know of any employer offering only $7.15 per hour.

Again, with the judgemental attitude. You don't even know me. You don't even know my first name. And you can't even seem to stay on topic

The moment I used the constitution to prove you wrong, rather than amend your idea and admit you were wrong, or offer a counter-argument in support of your assertion, you instead opt to completely go off-topic, mud-sling, and judge.

It's called an "ad hominem."

I believe, based on my own monthly spending, the inflation rate to be 10 -12%. Biggest pain for me is gasoline. I miss the $2.00 gas under Trump. Biden don't have a clue about the economy. The USA was self-sufficient in domestic oil production, now the USA is importing oil from Russia which support their war effort. I think that inflation will get worse. Inflation and increased fuel cost is very much like a tax, especially on those that can least afford it. Don't really know about the stock market. It is hard to predict because the trading is not really done on a rational basis.

By the way, my daughter pays $500 a month for a very nice 2 bed room apartment in Bull Shoals Arkansas. And yes McDonalds pay $14 per hour to start here in Arkansas.

Well, my fault. You didn't say that. The other person did. I apologize for that.

I actually don't disagree with your argument, that you should be free to not join a union and ask for even higher pay than lesser-performing workers make. Most unions are opt-in like that, but "right to work" laws have made it harder by forcing unions to represent non-union workers.

There are employers, of course, that have exclusive contracts with unions. But again, that's a contract between a union and the business. It's a mutual agreement both parties entered into, which is perfectly legal under US contract law.

Lets talk about workers rights.
I do not believe in unions that require an employer to pay all an equal wage regardless of productivity.
I dealt with this for 40 years. While I consistently out produced those I worked with, my employer was not allowed to pay me more because it violated the union contract.
No worker should be forced to pay union dues that are used to pay union employees more that those they work for and support candidates they do not support, just to work.
Today, there are kids at McDonald that make more money flipping burgers that cashiers at grocery stores that have to pay union dues and can not be given a raise because it would violate the precious union contract.
This is just wrong.
The employees at McDonald's do a whole lot more than just flip burgers. If the cashiers at a union shop are unhappy with the wages they are free to try somewhere else. Unions protect the least productive, without which some of these employees would be out of a job. I really don't have a favorable opinion on unions. Unions have played a part in having US manufacturing shipped to China or Mexico.

No, I don't. I was just using an example.

No emoyer offers 7.25/hour, because they won't have anyone willing or able to work it. My e tire point is, housing costs (which include apartment rentals) have increased dramatically over the past 40 years. The minimum wage continues to lag further and further behind.

After an annual increase of housing over the course of 4 decades, with stagnant wages that have not kept up with the costs of housing, something eventually has to break. There comes a point where the workforce literally cannot afford even to live in one-bedroom apartments. At that point, the workforce has no choice but to DEMAND better wages.

That's my point. It isn't wages increasing prices. Prices have been increasing without wages going anywhere for a very long time. Instead, it's rising costs that have forced wages to rise. Something eventually must break up all that wealth that's been trickling upwards year after year after year for 40 solid years.
