I came here to try and come to understand right wingers a little better, but I cannot seem to be making any sort of headway here.....

The Constitution of the United States, very specifically protects the right to assemble and to associate! It's in the very first amendment to the constitution!

You want to make it ILLEGAL for certain people (public sector employees) to associate and assemble with each other? And you call THEM anti-American?

If you did not get a raise, you did not contribute, but those who did, did contribute.
As for gas prices, a lot of people are to blame, including the oil companies, the retailers and of course everybody's favorite president.

That's why demands for better wages by the workforce has been a thing for the past two years. How you going to work for someone, but not be able to pay your bills? You can't. So people have no choice but to leave low-wage jobs. Low-wage jobs are still necessary. What? McDonalds just gonna give up and fold because nobody can or wants to work for $7.25/hour anymore? I don't think so! What McDonalds will do, is raise wages in order to attract new workers to keep their doors open!

You...DO know that you are only as "free" as the strength of the law, and the enforcement of said law allows you to be....right...?

"Freedom isn't free" is a typical right-wing statement. And it isn't wrong! "Freedom" comes with certain responsibilities. And a big part of that responsibility, is to stop demonizing your fellow humans. As Jesus once said:

If you feel you need a union, you should have that choice.

I believe, based on my own monthly spending, the inflation rate to be 10 -12%. Biggest pain for me is gasoline. I miss the $2.00 gas under Trump. Biden don't have a clue about the economy. The USA was self-sufficient in domestic oil production, now the USA is importing oil from Russia which support their war effort. I think that inflation will get worse. Inflation and increased fuel cost is very much like a tax, especially on those that can least afford it. Don't really know about the stock market. It is hard to predict because the trading is not really done on a rational basis.

By the way, my daughter pays $500 a month for a very nice 2 bed room apartment in Bull Shoals Arkansas. And yes McDonalds pay $14 per hour to start here in Arkansas.

There are employers, of course, that have exclusive contracts with unions. But again, that's a contract between a union and the business. It's a mutual agreement both parties entered into, which is perfectly legal under US contract law.

Lets talk about workers rights.
I do not believe in unions that require an employer to pay all an equal wage regardless of productivity.
I dealt with this for 40 years. While I consistently out produced those I worked with, my employer was not allowed to pay me more because it violated the union contract.
No worker should be forced to pay union dues that are used to pay union employees more that those they work for and support candidates they do not support, just to work.
Today, there are kids at McDonald that make more money flipping burgers that cashiers at grocery stores that have to pay union dues and can not be given a raise because it would violate the precious union contract.
This is just wrong.

The employees at McDonald's do a whole lot more than just flip burgers. If the cashiers at a union shop are unhappy with the wages they are free to try somewhere else. Unions protect the least productive, without which some of these employees would be out of a job. I really don't have a favorable opinion on unions. Unions have played a part in having US manufacturing shipped to China or Mexico.

No, I don't. I was just using an example.

No emoyer offers 7.25/hour, because they won't have anyone willing or able to work it. My e tire point is, housing costs (which include apartment rentals) have increased dramatically over the past 40 years. The minimum wage continues to lag further and further behind.

After an annual increase of housing over the course of 4 decades, with stagnant wages that have not kept up with the costs of housing, something eventually has to break. There comes a point where the workforce literally cannot afford even to live in one-bedroom apartments. At that point, the workforce has no choice but to DEMAND better wages.

That's my point. It isn't wages increasing prices. Prices have been increasing without wages going anywhere for a very long time. Instead, it's rising costs that have forced wages to rise. Something eventually must break up all that wealth that's been trickling upwards year after year after year for 40 solid years.
