How is the KJV corrupt?

I don't care what you are or aren't. All I see is a lunatic who thinks that by shouting down anyone with who disagrees you it will get them to shut up and go away. But unfortunately for you you're wrong.

I would encourage you to consider the difference between defending and attacking. Saying the KJV is good is defending. Saying anything else is inferior is attacking. You do the latter frequently... far more than the former.

That's your opinion, "attacking". It is defending the word of God. I constantly get attacked, then I defend my beliefs.

Well, I know the NKJV incorporates readings from the Majority Text. It's the only mainstream version I know of that does. This is probably what was meant but what readings specifically they think have been corrupted I have no idea.

what did they say was corrupted? I use the NKJV and have for 40 years

amen I used to love the original niv because I wasn’t able to process the language of the kjv which was all that was available really in my youth .

today I love the language of the kjv and find it to be more edifying for me myself. But it was imperative before that I had a Bible I could understand and the niv I’ve concluded these many years later holds the same message and is what led me to be able to understand the kjv better

we should have a version we can understand but not discredit the versions others can understand the only version I’ve read which is only three or four that I don’t really like is the amplified I think it over defines too many points and takes away from the flow of understanding one gets from taking in the word and prayerfully seeking from the lord what he’s saying

Shakespeare and the KJV are a bit different despite both being Early Modern or Elizabethan English. The KJV is more proper or "high" English while Shakespeare was more "common" or "low" English with a lot of idioms, entendres, and innuendos included.

I'd actually say Shakespeare is harder to understand, but maybe that's just me.

That's correct. And even the preface of the KJV ("The Translators to the Reader") is more difficult than the Bible itself. The reason for this is that the translators were being faithful to the simplicity of the Hebrew and Greek texts. They were focused on a word-for-word translation, therefore they also placed their own words in italics to show where they were inserting words not found in the text.

Just curious, do you use the KJV exclusively? I'm interested in some of the other historic Bibles that were put together in a more responsible manner than most modern versions are, but which might take a slightly different linguistic approach than the KJV.

Right now I use the KJV and the original languages, trying to find a good interlinear and maybe another historic reliable Bible.

In my case, I've always been really bad with numbers, so chapter and verse references don't work well for me. Words and phrases stick in my head really well, though. Being able to type in a verse and have the passage pop up is hugely beneficial for me. Also being able to copy and paste verses quickly is great!

I've got an app on my phone too, which is great, being able to carry the Bible with me anywhere conveniently.

e-Sword has a ton of features, I'm not sure about audio though. On a computer at least, if you need it, you could set up Windows accessibility options to have the computer read it for you, I'm sure.
