I stand corrected he did not tell him to lie, but to be deceitful Abraham 2:24
22 And it came to pass when I was come near to enter into Egypt, the Lord said unto me: Behold, Sarai, thy wife, is a very fair woman to look upon;

23 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see her, they will say—She is his wife; and they will kill you, but they will save her alive; therefore see that ye do on this wise:

24 Let her say unto the Egyptians, she is thy sister, and thy soul shall live.

25 And it came to pass that I, Abraham, told Sarai, my wife, all that the Lord had said unto me—Therefore say unto them, I pray thee, thou art my sister, that it may be well with me for thy sake, and my soul shall live because of thee.
Abraham and Sarah were half siblings, his father’s daughter by a different mother.

So saying they were brother and sister was not a lie.

It is called the book of Mormon...

“There is no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith."
(Bruce McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 396, 670)

“I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever
been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority
of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast
that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but
the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...” (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408-409)

This seems a bit of a repeated pattern of this user. She brings up a religious belief that is not Christian, asks others here about it then seems shocked by and argumentative with every comment made against that belief. Then injects some positive personal experience to defend that group.
This is the very same thing she did on Muslim beliefs. And also of OT Jewish dietary rules and how they relate to modern Christians.

Now she's stating people are judging and slandering Mormons, yet when asked for specifics dodges the question and only repeats her accusation.

So be aware there is a pattern.

The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s...
Joseph Smith, Doctrine and Covenants 130:22

Doctrine and Covenants is a collection of modern revelations Joseph claimed to receive from God, which has had whole sections removed and material added in other places to make them agree with Joseph’s changing claims.

"I prophesy, in the name of the Lord God, that the commencement of the difficulties which
will cause much bloodshed previous to the coming of the Son of Man will be in South Carolina."

No. They deny the Father and the Son. They are tricky to deal with, as they use Christian terminology, but use it to mean things it doesn't. The basic examples are Jesus and God. They believe in a false Jesus, and a false god, but not The Jesus, and The God. They believe that their Jesus died to pay the penalty for sin, but only so people could rise to go to Heaven or Hell. They believe in Hell, but call it the "Outer darkness". "Hell" means something different to them.
Typical. You don't know what they believe yet attack them. Have you seen record of their thought?

Knowing moses, I would bet on it. Some people might spout off without any information, but if he says something you can count on him having facts at hand.

Thanks Lynx. Some people don't understand the difference between attacking false beliefs, and attacking people. I've talked with a number of groups of Mormon "missionaries" for some hours. As people, they seemed absolutely sincere and lovely. But sincerity and loveliness don't earn salvation.

Really bizarre and heretical beliefs (e.g. they blasphemously describe Satan as a brother of Jesus). I looked up some of what they believed afterward, and it gets even worse. Their beliefs aren't particularly secret - pretty much anyone can spend a couple of hours reading to find what exactly they do believe. :)

Brother?

Son, maybe. God created satan along with all the angels. But brother?

Who was God and satan's father and mother? If they are brothers they gotta have parents.

Mormon belief: God had physical relations with Mary to produce Jesus.

The fleshly body of Jesus required a Mother as well as a Father. Therefore, the Father and Mother of Jesus,
according to the flesh, must have been associated together in the capacity of Husband and Wife; hence
the Virgin Mary must have been, for the time being, the lawful wife of God the Father: we use the term
lawful Wife, because it would be blasphemous in the highest degree to say that He overshadowed her
or begat the Savior unlawfully. (Orson Pratt, The Seer, page 158)

'When the Virgin Mary conceived the Jesus, the Father had begotten him in his own likeness.
He was not begotten by the Holy Ghost... (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 1:50-51)

What a learned idea' Jesus, our elder brother was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was
in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in heaven." (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 1:50-51)

Inasmuch as God was the first husband to her (Mary), it may be that He only gave her to be the wife
of Joseph while in the mortal state, and that He intended after the resurrection to again take her as
one of his own wives to raise up immortal spirits in eternity. (Orson Pratt, The Seer, page 158)The
man Joseph, the husband of Mary, did not, that we know of, have more than one wife, but Mary
the wife of Joseph had another husband. (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, 11:268)

Joseph Fielding Smith, 10th Prophet of the Mormon Church: "They tell us the Book of Mormon
states that Jesus was begotten of the Holy Ghost. I challenge that statement. The Book of
Mormon teaches No Such Thing! Neither does the Bible!" (Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 1:18)

"Christ was begotten of God. He was NOT born without the aid of man and that man was God!" (Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 1:18)

The birth of the Savior was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook
of flesh and blood- was begotten of his Father, as we are of our fathers. (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, 8:115)

Mormons deny the Deity of Christ.

Mormon belief ^

I meant to add this one to my previous post also:

Now Remember from this time forth, and forever, that Jesus Christ was not
begotten by the Holy Ghost. (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 1:50-51)

I've had my share of their Missionaries upset with me. :) As to Jesus and Satan being brothers, I'll have to dig that up. The idea is debatable and I choose not to spend time on it, it is a petty argument. Statements about that occur in Revelations and in John. I only have one computer and switching back and forth is tiresome.

I'm seeing this series called "Under the banner of heaven." It's based on true events. It goes on to show how religious fundamentalism can ruin lives. In this case, Mormon fundamentalism from the looks of the series looks cult like. IDK, it's just a series. But supposedly based on true events. And it's not the first time that I heard about Joseph Smith the founder of Mormonism advocating polygamy and practicing it, although later on, that was changed in the Mormon Church back to Monogamy.

Regardless, Mormon values from their founding fathers to some of their other members over the years do not resonate with core Christian values and beliefs and Christian living. It's just my observation.

I'd argue it's a salvation issue, rather than a petty one.

Who Jesus is - is critical for salvation. If one does not believe in the Jesus - that Jesus is indeed God incarnate - and not just any god, but the Only True God - they don't believe in Jesus, and they are not saved. The Pharisees believed there was a man named Jesus. They were not saved.

"Who can forgive sins, but God alone?" and "He who rejects the Son rejects the Father". Everyone loves the idea of Jesus. Even many atheists, agnostics, cultists and New Agers agree that the historical Jesus was a "good man". But these people are not saved - only those that believe in Jesus - who is God the Son - and his substitutionary death for their sin - in order to purchase their salvation with His blood.

It's a religion full of blasphemies. They believe that God the Father is a separate "god" to Jesus, and by their definition of Satan as His brother, put Satan at equality with Jesus (God). Certainly a totally different religion to Christianity - salvation through Jesus, the Only True Christ.

Oh.

Well at least it preserves internal logic. I've played video games that made less sense, directly contradicting their own storyline all over the place. =^.^=
