Initially met mine the same way... But we became friends fast and furiously...talked a lot.
Same here. Fortunately she only lived a 120 miles away so actually physically meeting was an easy thing. We met about a month after we started phone conversations. We also sent snail mail on a regular basis.

Mine was 6 hrs away... literally in the middle of nowhere. So we did phone and text and email...a LOT. She lived with her parents because there aren't apartments where she lived. She had lived elsewhere but hated it.

So we started burning up the highway miles. It wasn't pleasant until we finally got hitched.

That is a very good story.
Subway sandwiches in a two traffic light town is not a pleasant experience... especially when she knows everyone who walks through the door. And I do mean everyone.

Then there's the family... everyone looking at me through one squinted eye and a frown. Not exactly the most welcoming thing in the world.

Don't get me wrong....I'm their favorite in-law now...but it has been anything but easy in the small town environment.

Missionary Dating is not exactly a great idea...
A LOT of people (men and women) will say anything to smooth a relationship with another person...and most nonbelievers will actually have the best of intentions in trying to become a believer.
This is where "who" a person is not really revealed for years...

Everyone is on their best behavior when dating...it's when they are in their worst moods and nobody is looking that we find out their character... especially when selecting a spouse. Bad company corrupts good morals.
Great relationships start as "friends of equals" and build from there.

I'm just a grumpy old man who learned most things the hard way...and is still paying for mistakes of youth of doing exactly what you are talking about doing. I've met lots of others who have described the exact same results as I've had. (Nothing positive)

Believers and nonbelievers do not make for good marriages. Ever! It's good only for a season but the damage will last a lifetime.

Agreed!! Thank you so much for your advice, sir! I really appreciate it :)

big city environments are totally different

I can understand why someone in a small town wants to be married..they are lonely.
But in the city you have everything right there and there are so many people already what is the incentive to be married?

Just a random question.

Unless you have one of those dogs that has no business being a dog park. Mine is like that, she doesn't play well with others (human or canine).

what you do is tell your parents, when you are like 5 years old

I wanna get married and give you grandchildren one day
Then they arrange the marriage for you to little johnny/jenny from down the street
and after you finishe school, you graduate and get married to now grown up johnny/jenny who youve been seeing on playdates all this while
 That suddenly brings a whole new meaning to 'play date'! Now I gotta go build a time-machine to visit my five-year old self

Just saw this one on the internet, hope it helps Lily-K:

Time machine, slightly used. Needs new coat of paint, a new knob and some of the "flashing lights" bulbs need to be replaced. All cosmetic work, except the knob, unless you don't want to go forward again in time then no worries, your golden!

A steal at $88,000,00.00 !
Sounds like a lot, I know, but trust me when I tell you, when you have a high quality time machine like this, you can go back in time and make that back in no time !

If your interested, just post anywhere on the internet and I will find the posting (hey, I got the "time") and come by and pick you up for a test drive (again, if you want to go back to your current time, must bring a new knob and Cash to test drive, Before you post!).

Thanks for looking!

Hopefully the ad was free to get!
Ooo, maybe we could ask McFly for a 'test' drive, take ourselves back in time, and get the money to buy it :sneaky: (I'm so clever!)
Btw, are those two your new minions? Mine are yellow, but fluffy.

TIME-Travel Trip!
Woooo! I'll study up on how to tell if a flux capacitor is working (before you use it, I'm adaptable and could stay in another time, but be nice to know what were getting into before hitting 88 miles an hour😄) and bring the snacks, if you think on ways to make the money back in time (then we could compare notes on the way with this) and bring some tunes😁.

As far as the minions, no, not mine. Just some friends that let me use their likeness for accenting my thoughts. Like my other friend

😀.
Doing anything interesting this weekend?

People say they don't date strangers, but this is invariably untrue. They almost exclusively date strangers because we live in a world with almost too many options. Men and women typically have their minds made up about someone in the first few minutes of meeting them.

If you fail to make the cut then, you almost never will.

So yes, I am calling the woman's bluff. This may have been true in the 50's, but it is not true now.

I'm not looking to date but am shy so the idea of online dating and meeting strangers horrifies me! I guess introverts like me will always prefer the old fashioned way!

I'm an introvert that's just the opposite. Let me hide behind the computer and get to know you for a while before I meet you in person so when we do meet it feels like we already know each other. If I ever did really want to get into the dating arena, a questionairre and plenty of time to check out your answers and have an idea of where you stand before I have to communicate directly with you is my kind of way to go about it.

I can see how getting to know someone as a friend first online may be easier outside of a dating site but I think with a dating site there would be pressure . I would hate that . Sitting in ceremony for someone as they assess how worthy I am to be their future partner. Urghhh.

Hey! Sorry I'm late! What types of snacks do you prefer (also, I really think we got off topic with time travelling and such. Oops! My bad :))
As for making money.... I suppose we could help Edison invent the lightbulb. Or another inventor make some life-changing device (like the fridge!) If we jump to each time period, we could probably make millions that way.

As for the weekend, I'm planning to have tea with President Lincoln.
