In Ephesians 6 where we are told about the whole armour of God, we are instructed to put on each piece of armour. And the instruction is to withstand and stand against the onslaught of the adversary. Additionally, we are instructed to pray and speak the gospel.
Ephesians 6:18-19 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel
I wonder how powerful the church would be if we would just follow the instruction in Scripture.
Put on the whole armour of God ... withstand and stand against the wiles of the devil ... pray with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit ... open our mouths boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.
so much to say to that...
I remember the strength of the praise of the charismatic renewal in the 70s. We have become much weaker in our congregational praise over the past 50 years or so. Breaks my heart and I am often burdened to pray for another outpouring of God's spirit.
That there is so much controversy, contention concerning proper praise exposes satans works against it. If he can't stop it, he will at least try to weaken it sometimes directly with spiritual oppression, sometime through the egos of men - he will use every tool available to shut down praise.
Paul wrote in Corinthians '...a great door is opened to me
and there are many adversaries." An open door of ministry automatically brings resistance therefore Paul used the word 'and'. Without resistance we are doing nothing that shakes hell.
Praise / high praise is written of in the O.T. - well before Pentecost and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit so spiritual gifts should not even be a factor.
