It is common sense. I don't know how else to put it to you. Some of it is individual instructions. Some of it is not.

As for the Great Commission, here's the gist of it:
1. Preach the word and witness to others.
2. Baptize in the name of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
3. Teach others to follow Jesus commands.

What is so hard about it that you don't want to follow it?

What is wrong with witnessing? What is wrong with Baptizing? What's wrong with teaching others to follow Jesus' commands...seeing we have them written down in scripture...but you are saying we shouldn't even follow them.

To me that is dangerous to teach others that the teaching of the Lord is not applicable and we don't need to follow them.
What if you meet someone who claims "its common sense that we should also obey what God commanded Noah, to build an ark?"

So you believe God can only announce ONE good news to man, alright then.
He is God; therefore, He is able to do whatever He wishes to do. However, He has chosen one path for us to follow.

Come on now....really
I guess I'd have to say there is something terrible wrong with them, if they can't understand that was individual instructions for Noah.

That is the main thing that you are not getting. There is such a thing as individual instructions.

Just like all of those verses you are trying to use to sway me with...like start at Jerusalem, go get colt, etc. etc. They are individual instructions and anyone with any sense at all knows that.

He chose one path for Noah that we cannot follow today .

God sent his only begotten Son, he was crucified, buried, and then rose again in three days. He was sacrificed for our sins and defeated death, hell, and the grave. Through faith in him we have forgiveness of sin and salvation.

How is that any different for a Jew or a Gentile?

The Great Commission is not only found in Matthew. Are you aware that various versions are also found in Mark, Luke, John, and even Acts?

You cannot see the arbitrary nature of your doctrine that, Matthew's version of GC is not individual instructions but all the others are?

I was asking him whether he believes God can only have ONE good news for mankind. Are you taking the same stand as him?

So you do agree, in the end, that there are various good news or gospels that he revealed to mankind.

So there is more than just one gospel found in the bible, would you agree?

No - there is only one Gospel - or, "Good News" - and, it is for/to everyone.

Dear @Lafftur and @Magenta ... I am so thankful to Father for your love one to another.

As I was thinking about the discussion you two were having, another thought I had was that another reason God wants us to have a relationship with Him is because that is what is best for us, His dear children.

Think of the love a parent has toward his or her children. The parent wants his or her child to come to him or her for everything ... to share in the joys as well as in time of need. As the child grows up, they tend to try to figure stuff out on their own. I have watched my children make decisions that were not in their best interest. I gave my counsel, only to watch it go in one ear and out the other and my child suffering the consequence. I think the same holds true for God. He wants us to grow in our relationship with Him because it benefits us.

And thinking of love ... doesn't the lover of another think of the needs of the loved one before his or her own needs? In 1 Corinthians 13:5 we are told charity ... seeks not her own ... in other words, when we walk in the love of God, we do not seek our own happiness exclusively or what is for our own profit or advantage, but that which benefits others.

And I'm not saying that God does not consider Himself in the equation as we know that He cannot abide with sin, which is why He sent His Son to wash us and cleanse us.

Anyway, just some thoughts ...

Love you both,
rdbd

PS ... this verse came to mind ... Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Thank you very much :) You are so sweet!

It is as you say: God knows what is best for us :D

Oh, and I also had this "scene" come to mind, and it is so appropos (seemingly ;)) because in the gospels it happened during what is called Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem a week prior to His crucifixion, when:
as He approached the descent from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of disciples began to praise God joyfully in a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen. But some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples!” "I tell you,” He answered, “if they remain silent, the very stones will cry out.” I know there are others, like in Isaiah 55:12, where creation itself praises God: For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands... regarding God's Word not returning void. This Psalm also comes to mind :)

So true! The invitation is there for all.

Do all respond positively? We know they do not.

Still we have people pretending no choice exists on our part.

Are we to take it then, that these people believe they had no choice in the matter?

I have seen some say as much.

Others cloud the issue and refuse to answer a simple straightforward questionJohn 12:31-32

:)
I assume you are talking about me here, and this to another user in another thread. Magenta, I did answer your question in the thread Why Do Christians Ignore Most of the Old Testament Rules? If you didn't like (or fully understand) the answer is another thing. But answer you I did. This your post here came after my replies to you there.

To my original point, what is happening in this physical realm when we reach the high praise level and actually join the other beings in the spiritual realm and our praise joins theirs?

God delights in our praise.

Psalm 51:

15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

When a group of broken, contrite hearts lift their praises to God, our prayers reach to the heavens as a sweet-smelling aroma.

As far as this physical realm? ...

2 Corinthians 2:

14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

According to vs 16, we smell like death to some and to others, we smell like life.
