With respect, I strongly disagree.
That's your right. :)

If we all believed the same thing, there would only be one denomination, there would be no BDF, and life would be boring.

I keed, I keed... Obviously, there is truth, and we both cannot be right. There are disagreements for now. But one day Jesus Christ will return, and we'll all know the truth, and theological squabbling and disagreements will be a thing of the past, not to mention everlasting life with God, living in a wonderful place, etc, etc. What a day that will be!

This truth is still valid and should still be preached. When you preach the Gospel in the name of Jesus and the Lord leads you to lay hands on the sick and the sick are healed it is a demonstration that kingdom of God is greater than the kingdom of satan and that Jesus has given us authority over that kingdom. This has not changed after the completion of the canon of scripture, if anything it has increased because we can read about it from the canon of scripture.

9And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
Jesus didn't come to heal our physical wounds. Jesus came to heal us spiritually, but he used miracles to physically heal some so that they might believe.

Jesus refers to sinners as being sick here in Mark 2:16-18.

Mark 2:16-18
The Calling of Levi
…16When the scribes who were Pharisees saw Jesus eating with these people, they asked His disciples, “Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 17On hearing this, Jesus told them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” 18Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were often fasting. So people came to Jesus and asked, “Why don’t Your disciples fast like John’s disciples and those of the Pharisees?”…

This is 2 Peter 1:10.

Yes it still happens today for the same reasons. The greatest miracle is the rebirth.

This is the true healing and you seem to get that. Awesome!

Nowhere in the New Testament is it taught that speaking in tongues is the only evidence a person has received the Holy Spirit. In fact, the New Testament teaches the opposite. We are told that every believer in Christ has the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:13-14), but not every believer speaks in tongues (1 Corinthians 12:29-31).

In the video the man of God explains the difference between being saved and being baptized in the Holy Spirit -- two different events. But in this post I will give you Scriptural evidence for it so you don't have to watch the video if you don't want to.

You can be saved without being baptized in the Holy Spirit.

However, Jesus Himself (and after that, the apostles) made it clear that He wanted His followers to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit because it was (and still is) the gift that the Father promised to give to those who obey Him, and because it's a powerful spiritual 'tool' that empowers us, edifies us, and allows us to intercede in prayer for things and people that our natural mind has no awareness of.

Please consider the following Scriptures and see how they apply to what I have shared (and please, do not skip them, but read through them all and see how the Word of God reveals the truth of the matter):

Matthew 3:11 ESV
“I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

^ It is literally written here in the Word of God. Baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire. It is not the same thing as being born again (see below).

Acts 1:4-5 ESV
And while staying with them he [Jesus] ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

^ Notice that Jesus was talking to His disciples, and they were already believers, and He had already breathed on them, so they were born again at that point, and saved (John 20:21-22 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.)
Notice too, that He ordered them to wait for the baptism of the Holy Spirit [after they got "born again"]. Clearly a very important matter to our Lord.

Acts 1:8 ESV
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 2:4 ESV
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 19:6 ESV
And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying.

^ Those people were already "saved" because they were believers (verse 1-2: There he found some disciples. And he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”); however Paul made sure that he went to meet them and lay hands on them and pray for them to be filled with the Holy Spirit, so they would receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 10:44-46 ESV
While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God.

^ This is a case where some Gentiles got saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit at the same time, while Peter was preaching. In the following verses you can see that they then got baptized in water:

Then Peter declared, “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

>> Therefore one can be baptized in the Holy Spirit before being baptized in water (that's been my personal experience).
This also shows us that the baptism of the Holy Spirit wasn't exclusive to the apostles, but that it's the Lord's will for all believers to receive it.

This is supported by the fact that Paul addressed the Corinthians on the topic:

1 Corinthians 14:2 ESV
For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:14-15 ESV
For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful. What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.

"In the Spirit" is clearly different from "with the mind", otherwise Paul wouldn't be making that distinction. There are prayers that you pray only with your own finite, mental understanding, and prayers that are uttered by the Spirit, in an unknown language, and the person praying does not have the understanding unless the Spirit reveals it to them (which can happen). It is possible to even sing in the spirit (that is, sing in tongues).

A couple more, that I know you would probably interpret differently, but still:

Romans 8:26 ESV
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Ephesians 6:18 ESV
Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.

Once again, there is a distinction between simple praying and praying in the Spirit. Both are valuable, but praying in the Spirit is more effective because the Spirit of God knows infinitely more things than we do. Therefore prayers in the Spirit go beyond our mental knowledge and affect people and events that are unknown to us (I have personally met people who can confirm this).

Disclaimer: Of course every other thing that the Lord mentioned in the "Great Commission" is also important, that goes without saying. I do not put a particular emphasis on speaking in tongues; rather, I put an emphasis on the baptism of the Holy Spirit in general. Of course every other spiritual gift is as important as tongues. They all have value and are needed in the Body of Christ. It just seems that the speaking in tongues part is the most controversial one (perhaps along with the casting out of demons).

It is not my intention to create more tension or come across as argumentative; rather, my hope is that through these verses you will start to see that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is scriptural, that it is different from salvation, and that it is very much something the Lord wants us to have, because it edifies us, empowers us, and allows us to pray for things that we couldn't otherwise pray for with our own understanding.

If you start out on a journey with faulty directions you will never arrive at your desired destination.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is essential for salvation. It occurs the moment we believe into Christ upon hearing His word. Ephesians 2:1-10 describes it as a quickening in essence taking a soul that is dead in sin and giving new life to that which was dead. One time dead in sin now alive eternally in Christ. Titus 3:5 speaks of the washing of regeneration which is accomplished by the Holy Spirit are our rebirth into Christ.

There are fillings of the Holy Spirit after we are baptized unto salvation but only one baptism. Some of these fillings are evidenced in the scriptures you cite in Acts 1&2.

Do not lose sight of the fact that the sons of Sceva were casting out demons and did not have the Holy Spirit in their hearts. Acts 19:11-22. These men were making money casting out demons and imitating the works of the apostles yet were unsaved men.

So the man with the withered hand was actually hardhearted? The woman with the issue of blood was actually suffering from a "sinful nature"? The blind man whose eyes were healed with saliva mud was only metaphorically blind?

Seriously?

Right. Especially when the people asked who had sinned and Jesus said NO ONE. It was for the glory of God he was healed.

I disagree with your denominational stance. ALL believers are baptized into the Holy Spirit at the moment of accepting Jesus Christ.

God does not hold back spiritual blessing from those who come to Him. We get all of what God has when we come to Him.

"You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him" (Romans 8:9).

However, it should be noted that some have tried to teach what is called the "doctrine of subsequence" or "second work of grace," or a "second blessing" which states that Christians receive some of the Holy Spirit at the time of salvation and then what is called the "baptism of the Holy Spirit" at some time afterwards. A careful examination of Scripture shows this position to be incorrect.

First, the phrase "baptism of the Holy Spirit" appears nowhere in Scripture. Moreover, there is no place in Scripture where the Holy Spirit does the baptizing.

Instead, the Bible clearly portrays Christ as the baptizer: "I [John the Baptist] baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire" (Matthew 3:11).

Second, while those supporting the teaching of subsequence point to specific episodes in Acts as proof that a secondary baptism occurs among all believers, closer inspection of both the texts and the historical background of the book undoes their position.

Yes. Tongues is never called a "gift" in the Bible. It is one of the nine manifestations of the gift of the Holy Spirit. If you have the gift of the Holy Spirit (all Christians do), then you can manifest that gift in nine different ways, one of which is speaking in tongues.

I believe that is the case for many because they aren't taught about the "gifts" until after they become born again. As you say, they get born again, THEN learn about the Holy Spirit.
This is an interesting supposition. Do you know where I can read more about it?

I would like to see how this supposition is presented with scriptures. I am fully persuaded that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is accompanied by speaking in tongues and prophesying and it seems reasonable that the other gifts mentioned come as a result but there might be something to what you are saying about people who do not experience a subsequent baptism of the Holy Spirit operating in gifts of the Spirit because we all have the Spirit even those who do not believe in the value of asking for an receiving an outpouring of the Spirit to be a witness.

I personally am of the opinion that Paul was not counting gifts when he mentions the ones that he does. I believe that his intention was to use them as examples of Spiritual gifts. I have never felt right calling them nine and only nine. I don't think that was his point at all.

What I am saying is that when Jesus referred to people as sick, he was using it as a metaphor for a hard heart and a sinful nature. And when Jesus healed the sick it was also a metaphor for the softening of their heart and a forgiveness of their sins.

This is the true healing and you seem to get that. Awesome!
I think you might be using the word metaphor incorrectly but I get what you are saying. That we are supposed to see it as proof that he is able to forgive us of our sins and give us a new heart. I agree.

This is the reason for the signs that followed the preaching of the Gospel. We may still get sick and die. The disciples did not heal everyone after the day of Pentecost. The signs followed believers as the Spirit willed and it was a manifestation of the power of the kingdom of God. I believe that is the same reason that signs still follow believers as they Go and teach all nations.. Not if they are sitting at home playing video games, these will not see such signs, but those who GO.. in the power of the Holy Spirit. They are seeing signs follow them all over the world and for the same reason it was happening in Acts to bring Glory to Christ and demonstrate that the kingdom has come nigh.

I'm not saying there are still miraculous signs. I have not seen or recognized any miraculous signs. I hope that if you speak or interpret in tongues it is not false signs but true signs. What I also hope is that if those signs are false that you still and other Pentecostals are doing that you and them are putting love before them and therefore those sins ( false signs) are overlooked.

For love covers over a multitude of sins.

the idea that one speaking in tongues is seeking a sign is a false narrative. I don't speak in tongues to seek a sign. I do not interpret for a sign I do not pray for the sick for a sign The main purpose of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are as it says in 1cor 12 -14 chapters

1cor 12:7 " 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

1cor 14:12 says " Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.

The gifts are for the dedication of the body of Christ and one's self. There is no sign. the sign is to the unbeliever who is experiencing the manifestation of the gift They are astounded as they were at Pentecost. The Holy Spirit can speak and does PRIMALLY BY the WORD OF GOD. The Holy Spirit can also speak through a person who is speaking the word of God like a Preacher does on Sunday morning
And the Holy Spirit can and does speak through the Charmata and the gifts of the Spirit as it says in 1cor chapters 12 through 14.

We can agree to disagree on this as I am well aware of the fact that not every Christian interprets the scriptures on these things the same way.

Yes Paul made it clear that when we operate in the gifts of the Spirit in Love we are using a gift that will remain after the others are no longer needed. When that which is perfect is come. Which is what theologians call the eschaton. That state of perfection we will achieve post resurrection. Now that Paul specifically applies this exercise of Love in the context of the spiritual gifts would require the exercising of spiritual gifts being exercised in Love. ...hhmmmm think about it.
