there is not a scripture that I have found that says don't vote.
I made that decision after ingesting a host of scriptures and discovering that nowhere does it say TO vote.
The Jewish system in Bible time was totally different than what we live under in the US. The US system works because people vote. It doesn't work when people don't vote. Nothing in the Bible is for nor against voting.

Sad thing too is that war has been justified and glorified and has led to a level of idolatry when it comes to how high a pedestal some folks put people in uniform. and yes, the government of this country has sent too many to slaughter, in the name of what?
Not God.
So fighting a war to rescue Jews from being murdered isn't of God?

the freedom the constitution claims to guarantee is an illusion because it has not the power or authority to do so.
Ah, well then there was nothing slavery. Stinks that a war was fought to buy their "freedom". So I guess we need to let China know it's time to come on over and run the country because we don't believe in freedom.

[QUOTE="Batyah, post: 4330880, member: 299613"}] when it comes to us having a 'right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness', that is contrary to what God said.

So now you're advocating mass slaughter? No one deserves life? Wow, you have some messed up idea. I don't know what Bible you're reading. smh

It is a divided country obviously, with All-American / Anti-American, pro-life / pro-death, defund police / refund police, Democrat / Republican.
Very true. Is it a wonder that there are those that exploit that by trying to divide a Christian community too. Everyone needs a hobby.

bothers me not. I stand on the truth. I'm already a heretic in the eyes of protestants and Catholics.
I would disagree you stand on the truth. Because to do so would require you possess an education on the facts. Your screeds against America, the Constitution, God, demonstrate that is sorely lacking. It is tragic you thrive on and ask for negative attention. I'll pray for you.

I made that decision after ingesting a host of scriptures and discovering that nowhere does it say TO vote.
Have you ever noticed that when God wants to emphasize something He goes over it again and again and again?
The number of times a topic is covered in the Word is the telltale sign as to how important it is to God.
Participating in civil government on any level is not mentioned ONCE. At least in any way that endorses it or promotes it or instructs to engage in. Like anything else, God instructs that whatever you do for a living, do it as unto Him.
Some may feel called to public service but I believe it's very hard to be IN the world without being OF the world while
Quite the opposite is true. What the Word does say is that you cannot serve two masters. I believe He wants us to pledge allegiance to ONLY Him and His Kingdom. All things shall pass away. That includes this man-made government system that presides over this earthly kingdom. People have a right to vote by man's law. Feel free to exercise that. I choose not to and do not involve myself in the political process of the temporal kingdom called the US.
I pledge allegiance only to my King.

Sad thing too is that war has been justified and glorified and has led to a level of idolatry when it comes to how high a pedestal some folks put people in uniform. and yes, the government of this country has sent too many to slaughter, in the name of what?
Not God.
To vote is a moral and religious virtue that we are blessed to have the opportunity to do so. It is moral and religious to use the liberty we have wisely and to vote for people/laws that will defend the 1st Amendment especially. Which allows Christians to preach to the lost and freely as they choose to do.

The Bible has a lot to say about government. Good and bad examples. God wanted His people to govern themselves as Moses had designed an ancient constitutional republic where the 2 tablets, the 10 commandments set the foundation for the Mosiac law. Then Moses received wise advice from his father in law to delegate his authority out to others who were upright men.

Where the people could go to their chosen representative who would either handle it or go to Moses on their behalf.

The liberty to choose takes great responsibility. Choose wisely and the Biblical values can be portrayed to others within the governments reach. Choose unwisely and the secular heart that most often leans towards wickedness will promote the morality of self and love of self.

It can be the difference between night and day or liberty to love God vs death for loving God as this image below so powerfully represents.

Render to Caesars what is Caesars Jesus once said. The Christian is to be involved in their civil duties. Not to promote injustice but to support justice. Rome didn't convert to Christianity by not being involved. Even Paul tried to influence some top Roman officials. Paul was using his Roman citizenship in order to promote the gospel and it worked. He was sent to Rome as a prisoner where who knows how many people was affected by his teachings. Those teachings influenced the people of the culture and those people would influence others until that virtue and morality trickles into government. Mary and Joseph participated the the census. Jesus told his disciples to pay their taxes. Why pay taxes if your money went to people of evil? Well it could very well helped the people of good just as the soldier that Jesus met.

"The centurion was one the most unlikely persons to amaze Jesus. He was a Gentile. Doubtless he had a pagan upbringing. He was a Roman, stationed in Palestine to subject the Jews to the Emperor's rule. He was a man of war. He achieved the rank of centurion by distinguishing himself above others in the brutal Roman martial arts. Not exactly the résumé you'd expect for becoming one of the Bible's great heroes of faith."
https://www.desiringgod.org/articles/the-centurion-faith-that-made-jesus-marvel

Now why did this man get such high praise from Jesus? Didn't Jesus know the line of work this man was involved in within the government? Why didn't Jesus get on to him about his line of work? Possibly because God often sends people of light into the darkest of places.

If we love our neighbors, we should equally do our part to protect their rights especially when we have the privilege to do so with out having to watch their rights taken, imprisoned, beaten, or killed.

This is why liberty carries so much weight and has been protected through centuries of the fallen who gave their life for their neighbors. There is no greater love than that.

"According to George Barna in his book, The Second Coming of the Church, the number of Christians that registered to vote in a poll taken in 1997 was 83% as compared to 79% of non-Christians. Then, in a more recent report, regarding Christians who vote, WallBuilders.com reported that from 1992 to 2000 there was a 40% total decrease in Christians who voted. They also reported that out of the 60 million evangelicals in America in 2000 only 15 million voted and that some 24 million (40%) evangelicals were not even registered to vote.

If we have complaints about those in leadership that are immoral and the new laws that have been passed that are offensive and anti-Biblical; we might lay the complaint at the steps of the church.

What about our responsibility as good citizens? Are you registered to vote? Will you take the time to study the voting records and lifestyles of candidates? Which candidates most closely follow Bible standards? Will you set apart some time to pray about who would make the best leader? Will you take time to study the propositions? How will voting “for” or “against” an issue affect God’s plans for humanity? Then, most importantly…WILL YOU VOTE?"

you said: "Render to Caesars what is Caesars Jesus once said. The Christian is to be involved in their civil duties."

bull.
nothing in that or any other scripture instructs us to be involved in the civil government other than pay them their due, obey their rules and respect the ruler of the land because God is the only one giving them the authority they have.
You have interpreted that verse to fit your doctrine as if patriotism is next to godliness. You have the right by the laws of the land to vote. yippie for you. knock yourself out. But do not judge me for not playing along.
I choose not to and do not tell me it is my civic duty. I pledge allegiance to no one but my King and His Kingdom. His banner is the one I wave. Involve yourself with the affairs of this world if you wish. I will steer clear. My prayer is my vote.

you mistakenly think God is 'PRO-American'
read the Word. He is no respecter of persons. He does not hold one geopolitical nation run by a man contrived government system in higher regard than any other nation on earth.
some think God's a republican. Nancy Pelosi swears He's a catholic democrat.
How dare we assume we know God's will for this nation and the mysteries of His plans and purposes for America. I will never assume again that 'this guy' or 'that guy' MUST be the one the Lord wants in the Oval Office.
The only nation/peoples that matter to God, in the end, is spiritual Israel. All others will pass away. Their government seats will become His footstool.

I don't think blanket opinions serve the kingdom in the least. There are many a good Christian that serve in Government. Our President and Vice President included. "In God We Trust", appears in the chambers of power in this country and in our supreme court as well, though they have been I fear corrupted beyond redemption at this point. Most notably Justice Roberts who turned on the Christian faith and showed his allegiance to casinos and theaters in a recent tie breaker decision.
And of course our President takes his oath of office on the Bible, as do many a Christian who enter the branches of our government.
To say we're not to be involved when we are affected is in my view naive.

It isn't wise to cast aspersions on a military that keeps us safe the world over. There is nothing wrong with showing respect for our military men and women.
If you knew someone in uniform, especially a wounded combat veteran, you may change your mind about the level of respect they deserve. It is foolish in my view to dismiss their importance when were it not for them we'd be a very different nation.

As to war? God made war and sent his chosen to war in his name. We have chaplains in our military that serve in all positions including on and to the front lines.
Your opinion is yours alone but it shows a naivety that speaks from inexperience and disrespect. Both for the service rendered to the point of death as pertains to military. And to God, who never once said we should not go to war, or defend ourselves or our homeland. Just the opposite in fact. In fact, those who would not do that are called by God worse than an idolater.
If you are an American and love your freedom, thank a veteran.
Thanks for your kind words about the armed forces and the veterans.

God Bless you.

It will be understood I think when my last bother of words toward your direction are, in truth I would be delusional to think you have set here in your many posts the example of a good Christian.

You are so far afield from what is taught about righteous behavior and the indwelling holy spirit shining forth from one who is in the grace field of our Savior that you appear to be what someone said of another here. A troll. What a waste of time it would be to enter a community and seek to make people there upset at what you write, or dissuaded from appreciating your presence among them.

Have you no shame?

May the God of mercies heal what is so very fractured within you.

Is it me or do you too get the feeling there are those here who seek to instigate through ridiculous anti-America statements that have no foundation in fact? But are instead designed to bait upset in the American membership. Some remarks are so silly as to appear copied and pasted from a bad meme.

Must be a business that pays for fake people to write bad cliche's.
100% Correct, (Troll)

The business that pays those to create dissent is called the (Open Society Foundation) run by commie George Soros.

Yes they actually have funded programs to create dissent, chaos, to overthrow world governments.

Two Thumbs Up For Tourist and Susanna, America Strong!

And as the OP states, how long can this continue?

Appears the police in Seattle are putting a foot down with arrest?

The Feds in Portland are getting aggressive with arrest, as the criminal thugs step up throwing explosive and fire bombs, cutting down Fed fences etc?
