Hello fellow believers. Being new here, I wanted to get to know the members and one way of doing that is to get a general consensus on what we all believe. It is just a tool for taking a sample of views from a group of believers to identify where we agree on the basic tenets of the Christian faith.

So, me thinks you should answer all 20 questions..........FIRST,

I'm also wondering why we should be required to justify ourselves as believers to you?

IF you want to "know" the believers here, I suggest you delve into the various Threads on the various Forum Pages, and read the various comments...........

After all, we have zero idea who you are.........you can say whatever you want about who you are, or for what reason you want so much information.......as can ANYONE who joins this Site, so, why exactly, should we bare our souls to you????

Just pointing out that your "request" goes well beyond what any person here should have to provide to any other member here.

Ok here is what I disagreed with LOL

"Just pointing out that your "request" goes well beyond what any person here should have to provide to any other member here. "

That happens all the time LOL

there are an infinite number of sets of 20 questions. tbh the ones she chose -- i infered from the OP she is SDA or an Judaized offshoot, before i began to reply -- and as i'm writing this, i haven't read any of the rest of the thread yet except your reply that caught me eye. the questions she chose describe an agenda in her thinking.

the agenda is as I have stated repeatedly.
to find out what Christians believe.

I am NOT SDA or HRM or some judaized offshoot man-made religion.
Labels are for boxes. quit trying to pigeonhole me into some denomination or worldly religious group.
I am a follower of and believer in Jesus the Messiah and worship only the One True God.
I am redeemed by the blood of the Christ, the Passover Lamb and my works are not worthy to be counted as righteous.
I am of the seed of Abraham and a member of the church of the God of Israel.
I seek first the Kingdom of God and pray that His will be done here on earth as it is in Heaven.
I will stand on the Truth and defend to the death the Gospel of Jesus Christ which is the Gospel of the Kingdom of GOD.

goodbye

what we have here is someone who believes just like others who want to keep half the law because they cannot keep all of it

listen: I'm not interested in this conversation with you. you are here to preach at us and I'm not interested

you already told me that Jesus came to continue Judaism and did not start a new religion

However, Jesus came to FULFILL the law; not keep it going like you and at least one other person here would like to teach

I am sure you have found that person by now so you can have some fellowship with her

I am not of your persuasion. I am putting you on ignore which means I will no longer see or respond to your posts. I don't need to argue with someone who does not believe the fact that following any part of the law is not faith.

no actually I don't.

why don't you explain why you think OT rituals should be kept?

you know, as you did in another thread?
God's Law is eternal. The temple rules are null because there is no temple. There are rules for the priesthood that will not apply.
but the Ten Commandments are not void. Never will be.
The Feasts and Calendar of the OT are NOT Jewish feasts and rituals, they are GOD'S Feast and GOD'S Holy Days and GOD'S calendar.
The "one who sought to change the times and seasons of the Lord" has done the damage already.
The gregorian calendar and the man-made holidays created by the church of Rome and their new brand of Christianity are NOT eternal and NOT of God.
Many of those who practiced the religion of Judaism were guilty of (and admonished severely for by Jesus) adding to the perfect Law of God with the 100's of extra rules to abide by and those things that they practiced took them from the True worship of God that Jesus was teaching. So often when the NT refers to the burdensome laws practiced it is referring to those that came from extra-biblical rabbinical writings. And unfortunately, many Christians took that to mean that God's Law was the obsolete and burdensome laws. God, nor Jesus, nor any apostle ever referred to the Ten Commandments as something we should not worry about obeying.
Ever.

The same way that new (and false) doctrine was incorporated into the practices of many Christians in the 1st thru 4th centuries due to the attempt to scrub the 'jewishness' from the religion by the catholic fathers. The religion that became catholicism is but a syncretization of greco-roman practices and the True WAY that Paul and the apostles taught. and practiced.
The church of Rome wanted so bad to convert people to their brand of religion (with demonic results) stated flatly that it was okay for newly converted believers to keep their pagan rituals and feasts as long as they pledge allegiance to Rome.
So then Martin Luther came along and recognized that the church of Rome had done what Mark 7 warned about.
He however did not do enough reform in my opinion. He was on the right track, but alas, we are left with her daughters, the protestant churches, full of customs and traditions of man taught as doctrine.

This is why I believe that Jesus wanted us all to keep the Commandments, Feasts and Sabbaths.
Because He did.

Hello fellow believers. Being new here, I wanted to get to know the members and one way of doing that is to get a general consensus on what we all believe. It is just a tool for taking a sample of views from a group of believers to identify where we agree on the basic tenets of the Christian faith.
I have compiled an informal poll/survey with 20 questions that I would so GREATLY appreciate a response to from whoever wishes to participate.
The first half is simple yes or no questions about what you truly believe. The balance is questions that require something other than yes or no.
A simple few sentences will suffice or even quoting the scripture you feel directly applies to what it is you believe. You may also feel free to expound on any question/topic by private message if you wish so as not to get the thread off track. Simply ignore any questions you don't know the answer to or don't wish to discuss. The one thing I ask, at this point, is that you reply from your heart. That you answer only what you are sure of. If you don't know, say "don't know". Please do not go dig for answers on bible gateway before replying. This must be things that you have already studied and decided as Truth, what you believe to be true.
His Word should be written on our hearts.
Please know that I am only trying to gauge what it is the "church" believes as a whole.
They say that there are 22 million 'so-called' Christians in the world. Yet so many are unsure of what they believe and there are so many doctrines
being taught with various applications in Protestant and Catholic churches around the globe. So I would like to take samples of some communities, online and in local congregations. (I will be mailing this to pastors of local churches as well.)

Peace and Love and Blessings to all of you in the name of the Messiah.

1. Do you believe Christians go to Heaven when they die?
2. Do you believe unsaved sinners go to Hell when they die?
3. Do you believe that Jesus died on a Friday?
4. Do you believe that God desires Christians to celebrate His Son's birthday annually?
5. Do you believe that it pleases God for Christians to commemorate the resurrection annually on Easter Sunday?
6. Do you believe that Sunday is a Holy Day?
7. Do you believe the earth is 6000 years old?
8. Do you believe that the Church was formed and began during the events that took place in the second chapter of Acts?
9. Was Abraham Jewish?
10. Do you believe it is okay for openly gay people to serve in any position in the church congregation?
11. Do you believe the OT Law was nailed to the cross and thus made void at the death of Jesus?

12. What is the fourth commandment?
13. What day of the week did John receive the Revelation of the Christ on the island of Patmos?
14. How many 24hr periods (complete days) was Jesus dead in the grave?
15. What does the Word of God instruct on how to perform a wedding ceremony?
16. What does the Word of God instruct on how and when to administer communion? What sign did God say would be between He and His people that would indicate to t
17. How many books are there in the Bible?
18. What sign did God say would be between He and His people that would indicate to the world who are His?
19. What is God's name?
20. What is the Gospel? Define and describe briefly the Gospel of the Kingdom that Jesus preached, the apostles preached and His Church is commissioned to go into the world and preach?

Again, I ask that you answer off the top of your head. I don't need to know you can go look something up. If you don't know, don't answer.
Quote the scripture if you already know it. After you have replied to survey, then, by all means, take the questions and your Bible and OK, I'll bite. Mind you I've only read two other posts in this thread. I'll skip the rest as not to become predjused by others or become judjmental' So here goes.

1&2 no! We sleep and wait for the resurrection or judgment before heaven or hell.
3. I don't trust the Roman calendar that far back it had been changed several times. I believe it may have been Thursday.
4. It's only a custom. I don't believe Jesus was born Dec. 25th.
5. Absolutely.
6. We should treat every day as a holy day but the RCC did Change the Sabbath day from Saturday to Sunday long ago.
7. No, I believe the Biblical accounts for real time starts in the Garden of Eden.
8. No, it started when people came to believe in Jesus as the Christ. The Second chapter of Acts was about the first significant part of Church history were miracles happened to the public at the Jewish Pentacost celebration.
9. No their was no Jewish identity until the Israelites fled from Egypt and Moses received the Law from God.
10. NO!
11. Only for those who become saved.
12. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy.
13. Pass
14. Only 1 complete day from midnight to midnight.
15. Pass
16. When we gather in his name.
17. Pass
18. That we keep His Commandments"A new commandment I give to you Love God with everything else in the world and to love our neighbor as our selves. If we can do that we will keep all of the rest.
19. There are too many to list ie. Yawah, Elohim, Al Shaddi... Etc.
20. The Good News.

Baty,
you have to realize at some point in your 'walk/postings', that many have already been
where you are and that you, to some are like a 'bill-board', so very visible -
just know, that we who Love Yeshua, Love You!!!

I step on toes wherever I go. it bothers me not.
I am surprised at the reception here though from people who call themselves Christians. lots of preaching about love, but was ganged up on like I was a heretic with leprosy.
only a few have shown true Christian love toward me, they know who they are and the Father will bless them for bearing good fruit.

peace to you through Yeshua our Redeemer

i apologize -- i hope not to be offensive. but, i did guess from the OP that you had a certain focus on the law, in particular, the sabbath - and the Hebraic origins of our mutual faith in the revealed person of the LORD Jesus Christ. is that so? :)

apparently so is typing ability....teehee
i meant reading comprehension.
just because Jesus did not come to start a new religion does not mean that he wanted to continue the brand of religion that the jews had come to practice.
nor does He want that for spiritual Israel today.
i realize you've blocked me now, so this is for others' clarification.
i did not want anyone to think what you said was true.
i never said what you claimed i did.
that is all.

hub and I hope and pray that 'when you feel that you must 'step on toes' that you are without question
why you feel led to do this and feel free for doing this is only for 'Christ's sake' alone...
surely you must know by now, that all who Love our Saviour MUST suffer for His sake???
it's our job...

that makes sense :)
and it's not incompatible with what i was thinking, too - i just made inferences from the introductory post about some of the facets of what you probably believe.

I did not want to give my answers first as it may influence the way people answer themselves.
this makes sense to me too.

obviously, i didn't mind answering the questions. it was an enjoyable exercise - i took it as a quick closed-book quiz haha
i don't think it's a bad idea - even if the survey were a guise - it's not unwise to sort out what the prevailing thoughts are among us, who are all strangers to you. welcome to CC :)
but it also makes sense to me how several people have expressed that they'd like to hear the '
stranger' who has just arrived to sojourn with us give their own answers first, too.

no apology needed. it's a common misunderstanding.
I believe the church started in the wilderness. when God told His people that (paraphrased)" if you will be my people and I will be your God, then this is how I run things. These are the rules. Here's how you will build my temple, how you will approach worship, what days are Holy, etc. the first tabernacle was the first assembly of this set-apart nation. This is the Israel of God. not to be confused with the geopolitical state established in the middle east in 1948.
God is cultivating spiritual Israel. He is preparing His people (that yes, early on was predominantly of the Hebrew persuasion) for the Kingdom. And frankly I find it so sad that some who claim to worship this same God have such a disdain for His Laws and people who love and try to keep them.
I hate labels. Labels create misconceptions as we have witnessed here with people coming at me with their preconceived notions about my motives and beliefs. I have and will continue to gladly explain to people what it is I believe that the Word of God teaches.
Asking someone questions about their beliefs is a great way to delve into scripture and discuss certain topics.
We can all learn from each other and I have already learned something new from you that I believe to be TRUTH and in accordance with the Holy Word.
Thank you for that and thank the Father for using you to shed light.

I read a great commentary this morning on offense. the source of being offended is pride. there is no room for being offended if you have love for others and forgive their hostility. the urge to feel offended fades as we become more like HIM.

peace and blessings today and always

okay. more clear now.
question - what does that mean to you? what happens to the commandments God wrote with His finger in stone?
are they void? do we obey them? do we only use them as a guide and it doesn't matter if we break them 'cause we're under grace now so the blood of Christ covers our screw-ups? I just wanna be clear on what mainstream Christianity believes in how to treat God's Laws.
Not trying to argue or create rifts, just merely wishing to understand other's views and how they approach interpreting the verse in Colossians (2.14) about the decrees against us being nailed to the cross.
speaking of Colossians, 3:3 sums it up nicely. i was nailed to the cross with Christ, and having died, the law has zero jurisdiction over me anymore. you cannot prosecute a dead man; i am made free - and having died with Him, i live, because He lives.

stone is dust. Jesus writing in the dust with His finger is not accidental, nor is Moses smashing the first set of tablets. man is dust, dry bones, and lives only because of God's breath. the body of man returns to dust and the breath returns to Him who gave it - so it is with the one who has died, and anyone hid in Christ has died.

all of the law -- just like all of the prophets, all of the poems & songs, all of the gospels and epistles and the histories -- all of it is testimony of the person and work of Christ. John 5:39 is ((i believe)) a command: search the scriptures, because the testify of Him. this gives the what and the why. it tells us what we are looking for when we read the law, what it's purpose is - and that what is a who, The Messiah. every single passage, every command, every account, every hymn.
