12. New World Translation is the “bible” compiled by JW’s. NT released in 1950, OT released in 1961. All other versions of the Bible are considered false to JW’s

Note: the NWT far surpasses any other translation in error and words changed.

I live right in the neighborhood of the Hill kimora. Jehovah witnesses are all around me. They are a cult.
They are not allowed nor practice reading the Bible they have a second Bible which was written by Joseph Smith that they follow.
Joseph Smith said that the Bible was incorrect. That Satan had corrupted the written word.
They believe that Jesus came to the Americas after his Ascension and gave Joseph Smith the true vision.
Need I go any further?
You appear to have the JW's confused with The Latter Day Saints (Mormons). Both groups are Cults and both use dodgy Bibles. One main difference as far as I can see is that the JWs lies are more easily swallowed by an average person than Joseph Smiths golden
plates and magic glasses.

No. I work with a Jehovah witness and today he told me something about Adam being perfect.
Do you mean he was perfect before he was corrupted by his wife? It’s a joke people.....just a joke.

Interesting article.

Jehovah’s Witnesses regard The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures as “an accurate, easy-to-read translation of the Bible” (jw.org). What many don’t realize is that four of the five men on the translation committee producing the complete 1961 edition had no Hebrew or Greek training whatsoever.

The fifth, who claimed to know both languages, failed a simple Hebrew test while under oath in a Scottish court...

JWs Believe that Jesus was the Archangel Michael
This is the heresy that condemns the JWs, and probably leads to all the other heresies. They deny the sovereign Lord who died for us all, and instead substitute Him with a false Jesus (a mere angel) and a false gospel.

Actually God said that everything He created was "good, He did not say perfect. I'm pretty sure that where your going with this, or way the Jw is going with this is if Adam was perfect how come he sinned? The fact of the matter is that God gave us "free will." Adam and Eve chose to disobey God and that is why we now live in this "upholstered" cesspool known as earth.

Turn the conversation around on him and ask him who is Jesus Christ. Don't talk or even mention the Trinity even if he brings it up. Ask him, "Is it my understanding Jesus is a created being, is that right? They will say yes.

Then ask him the following question? If Jesus is created then how do you explain John 1:3? Look it up and read it for yourself. Also look up Colossians 1:16. Please do a little homework and keep it simple. The Jw will tell you from Colossians 1:16 that Jesus created all other things. They added the word "other" in their Bible. Then you say, "What are these other things?" Give me some examples.

You can also quote Isaiah 44:24 where Jehovah created all things BY HIMSELF and ALL AONE. Tell him to reconcile this with what Jesus created? Just study it out and go from there.

Ok, wow
3. Deny Jesus’s bodily resurrection
4. Jesus is an Angel?
Adding to what Magenta said, I have two books on my shelf called Another Jesus (Vol. 1 and 2). It has been awhile since I read them. It was a number of years back when I was working with the JW cult. But the essential argument of the book was that the "Jesus" who was raised from the dead in the JW teaching did not have the same body and thus was not the same person as the Jesus who died. This can only make the "Jesus" that JW's worship be in actuality a demonic entity of some kind. The author of the book showed all of this right from JW writings.

Do JW’s acknowledge that salvation is in Jesus Christ ALONE or are they also “works” based because THAT to me is the DIVIDING LINE.

NO ONE IS EVER GOOD ENOUGH!!!
Christianity has that component for sure.

But if the root of everything is traced back it is this;
The dilemma.
Holy God/sinful man.
That dilemma has God in pursuit of man, inspite of a dilemma that without miraculous intervention, places man,Gods masterpiece,in eternal separation.

Enter the plan/cure/remedy

INNOCENT BLOOD.
IT HAD TO BE GOD ON THE CROSS.

THEN ONLY A KINSMAN (A HUMAN MAN) COULD REDEEM THE LAND.
JESUS HAS REDEEMED MAN.
THE GOD MAN WILL REDEEM THE EARTH.

(caps for emphasis...not yelling)

Think this is what my JW coworker was talking about. Source

When Adam sinned, he lost his human perfection and was sentenced to death. For all dying mankind to be ransomed, it required someone who corresponded with Adam in his human perfection. It required another perfect man to undertake to suffer death innocently in order to lift the sentence of death that Adam had brought upon all his offspring. What was needed, then, was a corresponding ransom.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all — this is what is to be witnessed to in its own due time. — 1 Tim. 2:5, 6
The Greek word for ransom is lyʹtron, which comes from a verb meaning “to loose.” It was used to describe money paid in exchange for the releasing of prisoners of war. In the Hebrew Scriptures, however, the word for ransom, koʹpher, comes from a verb meaning to “cover” or “overlay.” The Theological Dictionary of the New Testament notes that koʹpher “always denotes an equivalent,” or correspondency. In atoning for sin, or ransoming, divine justice demanded ‘soul for soul, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.’ (Deuteronomy 19:21)

It is fitting, then, that in order for Jesus to buy back what Adam lost, he had to provide the equivalent or what was corresponding in exchange. That meant Jesus’ perfect life corresponded to Adam’s perfect life...
They are basically correct.

Some of their stuff is ok.

You have to bring them to your argument.
The diety of Jesus.
Make them go there.
Make that your crossroad.

A big issue is that when a JW talks about "Jesus" he is actually talking about a spirit entity (a demon). This is because they deny that the Jesus who died on the cross actually bodily rose from the dead. Another spiritual "Jesus" supposedly rose - they might call him an "angel" - but what kind of angel?

They have my house on the avoid list.
I see them knocking on doors all around me. Lol

My last encounter they said "we dont want to leave you upset"

My reply "nor do I. I will just leave you with Jesus"

They can not stand toe to toe with anyone that has a bible in hand.

Once Jesus is revealed they start their workbook power points nonsense.

They even got their most powerful guru to come to my house.

He was like a "superfly" and Jesus and His Word like an eagle..

He left decapitated
Lol

What revelation is that?
I looked in 4 pages of his posts and must have missed it.
Hello @Absolutely

Search dc’s threads - it was probably 1 or 2 years ago.....

dc explains how the 144K are all the male Hebrew babies from birth to 2 yrs old that were slaughtered because King Herod was wanting to kill Jesus Christ- The King of the Jews.

It’s really a fascinating revelation. :unsure::love:(y)

Acts 1:1-3 . .The first account, O Theophilus, I composed about all the
things Jesus started both to do and to teach, until the day that he was taken
up, after he had given commandment through holy spirit to the apostles
whom he chose. To these also by many positive proofs he showed himself
alive after he had suffered.

The Watchtower Society's version of those "positive proofs" is interesting.

In order to show his friends that their savior was back from death, the arch
angel Michael is alleged to have materialized an artificial Jesus that was in all
respects just as physical, and just as functional, as the real Jesus.

However:

1) The New Testament never even one time, on any occasion, nor under any
circumstances, nor in any situation, either attests, alleges, alludes, or states
that an angel named Michael appeared to Christ's disciples cloaked in a
human avatar.

2) The Society's Michael never once let on to his friends that he was an
angel in disguise. He led them to believe that his avatar was the actual Jesus
Christ they all knew prior to his crucifixion.

3) Passing one's self off in the guise of a dead man is the lowest form of
identity theft imaginable. It's what I expect from human beings, but that is
not the kind of behavior I have a right to expect from an arch angel.

4) A so-called materialized body is a counterfeit.

5) Neither Paul, nor Peter, nor John, nor James, nor Jude, ever even one
single instance in any of their writings identify Jesus Christ as an angel
named Michael: not once. You'd think that if Jesus Christ is currently an
angel who goes by the name of Michael, those men would have said so
because that would be a really big deal.

FAQ: Why make an issue of the nature of Christ's resurrection?

A: Were I the Devil, I would do my utmost best to disprove the resurrection
of Jesus Christ's crucified dead body because the cross is only half enough to
protect people from the wrath of God. Though his physical body's death
obtains forgiveness for people's sins, its death doesn't gain exoneration.

Rom 4:25 . . He was delivered up for the sake of our trespasses, and was
raised up for the sake of declaring us righteous.

The Greek word translated "righteous" is dikaiosis (dik-ah'-yo-sis) which
means acquittal; defined as an adjudication of innocence.

People merely forgiven still carry a load of guilt; viz: they have a criminal
record. Christ's physical resurrection deletes their record so that on the
books, it's as though they've never been anything but 100% innocent.

This clearing of one's guilt that I'm talking about is obtained via the kindness
and generosity of God through belief in the resurrection of Christ's crucified
dead body. If the Devil can succeed in convincing people that Jesus' crucified
body is still dead or, even better yet, make them question whether the man
even existed at all; then they will fail to obtain an acquittal, and
consequently end up put to death in brimstone because records are to be
reviewed when people stand to face justice at the Great White Throne event
depicted at Rev 20:11-15.

Of all the doctrines invented by the Watchtower Society, I'd have to say that
their resurrection story is the most insidious because belief in the recovery
of Christ's corpse is one of the essential elements of the gospel that must be
accepted if one is to have any chance at all of escaping the sum of all fears.

1Cor 15:17 . . Further, if Christ has not been raised up, your faith is
useless; you are yet in your sins.

NOTE: According to 1Cor 15:34, people that disbelieve Jesus Christ's corpse
was restored to life aren't fully conscious; viz: they're like someone in a
stupor; i.e. dazed.

How are you?
Nice post
Well thank you for asking. I'm doing great. Look at what Charles Taze Russell said in 1879 regarding the identity of Michael the arc angel. Start at the middle of what he said where it says, "Let all the angels etc.

I have been dealing with the Jw's and Mormons well over 50 years now and just about know everything about them. You have try and keep it simple when you confront them or they confront you. I have tons of their materials including primary sources.

They almost exclusively use the New Living Translation (NLT) of the Bible and other extra-Biblical literature called The Watchtower magazine. All other Bible translations are irrelevant to them. All of their doctrine is dictated by a central leadership at their headquarters.

The NLT is conclusively a corrupted version of the Bible. If someone tries to have a Biblical discussion with them that counters what they believe then their altered Bible version will seem invalidate all dissenters. That's part of the reason it is so hard to get through to them with sound doctrine; they think they aren't in error.

In order to get through to them you would have to start at the foundation and build the case for why the NLT is in error and what a more correct Bible version is and why.

Edit: just realized I put NLT and not NWT - New World Translation. That's the one JW's use

Actually God said that everything He created was "good, He did not say perfect.
Thank you, bluto; I say the same thing :D I think people go to the verses that say:

He is the Rock, His work is perfect; all His ways are just. A God
of faithfulness without injustice, righteous and upright is He.

Deuteronomy 32:4

As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless.
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.

2 Samuel 22:31

As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless.
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.

Psalm 18:30

And take that to mean Adam was perfect, but the fact remains, in Adam we are born sinners,
and need to be born again of the Holy Spirit of God to be perfected in Christ, and none other.

The purpose of this thread is simply to compile a list of the differences between Christianity and Jehovah Witnesses.

I’ll get us started:

Do JW’s teach that Adam was perfect?

Please be civil.
so your saying they are not Christian?
