Please do not feel pressured -- I know that for many people, shyness and not knowing what to say can be a crippling fear, so if you see something on this list you're not sure how to answer, just condense your reply into a few descriptive words.

For example, if asked how you feel about something, instead of giving a long explanation (which people are welcomed to do), others might just to just describe their feelings in a few word: "Cautious, but open-minded."

OK. Here I go.
1. Deborah/Deb/and close friends call me Debs
2. British Columbia, Canada
3. One amazing, kind hearted, son. He is someone I not only love, but really like. He's almost finished university and I am excited for his future.
4. One dog, Bella, who has just confirmed to me that I have no business trimming anyone's bangs, even hers. Oops.
5. I grew up in a Baptist home, was baptized at 14 because I believed. I'd always known God's presence but there was still an emptiness. It wasn't until we moved to the west coast that I ended up in a youth group that showed me a love that broke my heart. I learned about lordship. I went from asking Jesus into my heart to giving him my heart. They loved me and loved each other and that was worth so much more than a world of preaching. I knew the scriptures. I believed. I think I lived a fairly obedient life but this is where things blew open with my faith. I went to a Christian university and learned that God wasn't impressed by how I planned to serve but who I was with him. For me, my faith journey is really my life story. There is so much I've learned along the way. Belief and commitment were only the door through. The really awe inspiring lessons came after. I am so grateful.
6. Friendship is an incredible gift and it is essential. It grows based on trust, honesty, effort and a mutual caring for the other person's best. It is the foundation of a real romance. I have no idea if there would be someone out there for me but I am open to love.
7. Oh goodness. Workwise I was a medical social worker. Volunteer work has always been part of my life and I knew I wanted to help people but I didn't know how. I remember reading that 1 in 6 verses in the bible says to help the poor, the orphans, the elderly, and those in distress. There are a lot of directives to work for justice for these people and to care for them. I worked with street kids and helped in downtown outreaches. Medical social work was really my calling. I did a lot of work in special care (premature births) and maternity (the things that went wrong). It was a sacred trust and I am thankful for that time in my life.
Being a mom has been a huge part of my life and in the last many years I've worked in TV and movies doing background and a few acting roles. I've also been writing, transitioning from non-fiction to fiction and have just started to publish some tiny pieces. I also have international students.
For hobbies, I love books, specifically sci fi, I make rugs, pine needle baskets, sculpt small figures, jewelry and I love travel. I've had some incredible adventures and learned to laugh at myself.
I'm not an athlete but I've I'm good for some hiking/exploring and swimming.
I love the ocean and am always hunting for sea glass or taking pictures. I am laid back, humour is essential. I take others seriously, and myself not at all.
8. This is a hard one because it seems immodest. Honestly my loyalty, humor, patience, sense of fun, friendship, creativity, sincere listening and faith. I am gentle in my honesty and I will guard their heart. I know my pros and cons, who I am and I have peace. Did I mention I can cook? lol
9. Honesty (tactful) and open. It all comes down to attitude of the heart. A great relationship is where each person is looking out for the best for the other person. Power struggles only build walls. I want someone who is comfortable in who they are in Christ and who they are as a man. They have to be able to see the humour in life. I grew up watching M.A.S.H. and reading Far Side cartoon so if that sort of humour doesn't work for you I'm not your gal. I want to be able to be able to be quiet together, beachcomb, enjoy time on the porch or visiting with neighbours. They need to be kind, and willing to lend a hand if an elderly neighbour needs it. I like great discussion and ideas are fun to explore. They can't be threatened by a woman who can think, or take it personally if they bring up a different perspective. Respect is everything.
10. Absolutely. I live in Canada. No one knows where we are. Did you watch the movie "Independence Day?" Did you see Canada get blown up? No. Why? Even the aliens didn't know about us. If our capital cities were bombed, no one would recognize the landmarks? It is perfect. The zombies would get to the border, scratch their heads, shrug and turn around. Failing that, according to Max Brooks, in his zombie survival guide, they can't handle the cold. Where I live doesn't get really cold but let's just keep that as our little secret. :)
As to the add on questions, I am a woman, just in case the photo didn't tip you off and I'm 55.

I'm currently teleworking and saw this thread and was compelled (yes - I can be a bit compulsive) to provide a brief answer before I am able to take time to respond to the questions - as a means so I can discipline myself to get back to work... haha...

Got me thinking, that people may/may not want to know more about each others personality types - merely as additional insights about potential matches... Not intended as a means of binning/matching similar or discerning dis-similar personality types - just more information - where more is better than less as it pertains to helping folks to make more informed decisions...
For example I am an INFJ: INFJ (introverted, intuitive, feeling, and judging) is one of the 16 personality types identified by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Sometimes referred to as the "Advocate" or the "Idealist," people with INFJ personalities are creative, gentle, and caring.

Great job seoul! I was wondering if you could ask about people's sex. Some are obvious but other's not so much. Before anyone get's offended I want to tell you a story about a certain someone (me) was doting on my daughter about something or other, and another certain someone (Seoul) Texted back telling me what a good Mother is was. It's been well over 2 years but I remember texting her back saying. Hey. I'm a dude! LOL...

Asking about genders is absolutely allowed and nowadays, almost practical. To give a little background info... I know I often talk about things such as, "the old system" -- I've been on CC since 2009 (though there are a some members who have been here far longer) and have seen it change formats about 3 times that I can remember (and if this is inaccurate, all the old timers here are free to correct me.)

Each time there is an update, we lose some features and gain others. In "the old system", male member's names were in blue, and female members were in pink (though of course, people weren't always honest about their gender, but, that's the internet, not CC.)

I've seen many times in the threads where people were told to look up someone's profile to find out what gender they are but that doesn't always work either. This new system allows people to be more selective about who can see their profile so they might not have it set for everyone to see.

I'd like to think that the Singles forum is easy-going enough to not get offended if someone asks whether we're a guy or a girl, and if anyone does get offended, well... We'll work on that. :)

Contrary to what some believe, lol, I actually do have a life outside of CC :), so if I don't answer right away, feel free to ask again or PM me if you're able because I'm either busy with "REAL LIFE" (oh, the horror!!! :cool:) or it's very possible that I might have missed your post -- and not on purpose. For some reason, this new system doesn't always alert me when there are new posts on the threads I'm watching.

Unfortunately, I'm not CC Bot and can't be here watching and responding all the time. :)

And, there's absolutely no reason to apologize for asking about asking :) people what gender they are. It was actually a very helpful question, so thank you for taking the time to ask (I hope everyone will feel free to ask their questions in these threads.)

We have a very collective, knowledgeable group, so one of my goals in writing these discussions is to hopefully help share what we know or have experienced, whether it's about CC or any other area of life. :)

I know where Canada is, I also know where hastings is, sketchy part of town, but a very nice policeman directed
us to a much safer section of that lil unknown city.

So obviously, the most important thing we've learned from this thread so far isn't that we have an abundance of cool people here with all kinds of interesting hobbies and stories to share.

The "single" (hee hee hee) most IMPORTANT thing we've all learned...

Is that in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse, we're all moving to Canada.

you do nice work it's hard when you feel you lost your creative mojo. That happened to me years ago after my dad died I could do design anything my heart wasn't in it. In time your sewing mojo will come back .

Ok, @TheArtist, you have me slightly obsessed with your chain mail project. This is something I appreciate about art in all forms -- the fine details behind the work.

For anyone not familiar with chain mail (and I've only read about it briefly, if you look at that picture of TheArtist's second project, it's made up of hundreds (if not thousands) of little rings. Each and every single ring must be opened with 2 sets of miniature pliers (one in each hand) then attached to the next ring(s) and be closed up again with the double set of pliers. This is why I'm so fascinated with it.

Although I've done a few projects with jump rings (ladies, if you're wearing any chain jewelry right now, you probably have something that has a few of those rings), I was never interested in chain mail because of all the sheer work. But then I paged through a supply catalog and discovered how many colors they make those rings in, and suddenly my mind was churning away!!! Not only would it be a challenge, but it would feed my somewhat OCD tendencies!!!

And so, @TheArtist, I'm sorry, but I must ask:

1. Out of all those rings, what ratio would you say you accidentally break while making a project of that scale?

I know they always say to open and close a ring by pushing and pulling the ends in opposite directions, but I admit to getting impatient and sometimes accidentally just yanking the ends asunder, resulting in the premature death of the ring. (Sounds like a new movie series... "Death of the Rings"!)

2. Do you have problems with your hands aching/eyestrain after working so many hours with such tiny materials?

When I first saw chain mail, it reminded me of cross stitch. Some cross stitch pieces are so incredibly detailed that you can work on it for 2 hours and have to change colors 20 times (I was working on a picture with a big tree in the background and never knew so many shades of green for the leaves were possible), while only getting about a 2-inch section completed.

Chain mail looks a LOT like that to me.

3. What got you interested in jewelry making? From the pictures you've shared, I would guess that you've amassed or are working on a wide variety of professional-grade tools and equipment? (Are you making the findings and components yourself or buying them separately and piecing them together?)

I am genuine. I don’t play head games, I’m caring and trustworthy, and along with that extremely understanding. Someone who can bring companionship, silliness and will stand by in the hardest of times.

Someone who stands by their word, is kindhearted and also someone that is at least a small bit of a geek. Gotta have someone to play some old school donkey Kong with haha.

Ok, @TheArtist, you have me slightly obsessed with your chain mail project. This is something I appreciate about art in all forms -- the fine details behind the work.

For anyone not familiar with chain mail (and I've only read about it briefly, if you look at that picture of TheArtist's second project, it's made up of hundreds (if not thousands) of little rings. Each and every single ring must be opened with 2 sets of miniature pliers (one in each hand) then attached to the next ring(s) and be closed up again with the double set of pliers. This is why I'm so fascinated with it.

Although I've done a few projects with jump rings (ladies, if you're wearing any chain jewelry right now, you probably have something that has a few of those rings), I was never interested in chain mail because of all the sheer work. But then I paged through a supply catalog and discovered how many colors they make those rings in, and suddenly my mind was churning away!!! Not only would it be a challenge, but it would feed my somewhat OCD tendencies!!!

And so, @TheArtist, I'm sorry, but I must ask:

1. Out of all those rings, what ratio would you say you accidentally break while making a project of that scale?

I know they always say to open and close a ring by pushing and pulling the ends in opposite directions, but I admit to getting impatient and sometimes accidentally just yanking the ends asunder, resulting in the premature death of the ring. (Sounds like a new movie series... "Death of the Rings"!)

2. Do you have problems with your hands aching/eyestrain after working so many hours with such tiny materials?

When I first saw chain mail, it reminded me of cross stitch. Some cross stitch pieces are so incredibly detailed that you can work on it for 2 hours and have to change colors 20 times (I was working on a picture with a big tree in the background and never knew so many shades of green for the leaves were possible), while only getting about a 2-inch section completed.

Chain mail looks a LOT like that to me.

3. What got you interested in jewelry making? From the pictures you've shared, I would guess that you've amassed or are working on a wide variety of professional-grade tools and equipment? (Are you making the findings and components yourself or buying them separately and piecing them together?)
Its fine you can ask many questions as you like that’s how we learn by asking questions. 😊

I have broken several different size gauge rings while working on project largest so far is 14g steel ring. When those broke it was because when the place, I order my rings from cut into them just a little bit so the opening and close of the ring weakens the metal and it breaks. I broke several adonized aluminum rings while making the inlay necklace when I first start the piece. I do notice I break more adonized aluminum rings then any other. The project I am working on now I broke a few 20g 3/32 rings steel and brass rings. Also just realized I gave wrong ring size for the inlay necklace I showed its really 20g 7/64. So far it doesn’t seem to matter what type of material or size of the ring it is there a possibility you will pick one up that will break.



Yes, my eyes do tend to hurt a lot after working with small rings size that the one in the inlay necklace I end up getting headaches a lot from it. like with the current project I am working on now I try to space projects where I am working with smalls rings of that size apart so to save my eyes. I try to stick with larger rings easier on the eyes, for the most part, I have gotten headaches still. That what’s more due to my not moving enough and just sitting there for 4 hours or more working on a project. Far as my hands normally don’t ache from working with smaller ring size if I take breaks. My hands do ache when I am working in 14g or large rings in any material especially when it steels just kills my hands.

I never thought about, but you are right inlay chain maille does look like cross-stitching. I know there are so many colors to pick it can hurt your head and eyes but that what makes it so much fun at the same time.

What got me into jewelry would be my mom when we move from the west coast to Midwest. I was starting 9th grade and registering for classes she saw they had a jewelry class told me I should take it I wasn’t so sure about, so I didn’t. Then !0th grade came around and I was starting high school and had to register for classes they were offering jewelry classes. My mom brings it up again this time I listen I know if my mom brings it up more than once it's for a good reason. I had mixed feelings during my first semester taking the class as I went along, I started to enjoy it a lot and started to find my mojo. The rest of the year I had a lot of fun in the class I ended up taking the class in 11th and 12th grade I think I might have been the first person to do that. My teacher just gave up with figure out lesson plans for me to do just said create whatever you want and turn it in.



I don’t have really any expensive professional grade tools in my shop there my foredom flax shaft, workbench, saw frame, files and I use a plumber torch when I am soldering a piece. I do buy the rings and findings like ear wire for my earrings and clasp for my necklaces and bracelets. I wish I had the funds to afford to buy more equipment I am still trying to figure out how to get more sales on my etsy shop.

I wholeheartedly admit to being one of those dumb people, lol.

I would have never even gotten a smart phone at all if a CC friend hadn't convinced me (and spent several hours via voice texts coaching me how to use it.)

I STILL don't know how to scan and play those QR code thingies either... I saw one the other day and kept thinking about how I keep meaning to learn how to get my phone to read them.
Your not alone when it comes to your smartphone my Mom as trouble with it a lot too. I am always helping her with her phone trying to show her how to send a text. and speaking of QR codes when I design my business cards I put one of those on the back of it had fun explaining what it was to my mom. one day we are all going to be in a spot when it comes to some tech device and be like erm how do I work this thingamajig lol

It reminds me of the friendship book my sister made once for school. now supeseded by Facebook. I dont fill out all the profile things on there either. Mostly because advertisers then start pouncing on you and your second cousins sees you chatting with an old school friend and then starts being nosy and assuming you are now a couple. True story.

what happened to dating blind lol.

On CC in your profile can you put all the answers to those questions there. I think it can be optional though. That way, someone can just go to your profile if they want to look you up and know all about you.

then somene could run a computer algorthim that matches you up or says because you answered x on question 6 you have stuff in common with this person....and THIS person has 70 percent compatibility rating with you. want to be friends???

That's the beauty (and point) of this being a DIY (do it yourself) thread.

No one has to worry about remembering people to match them up. No one has to worry about some stranger matching them with some crazy lady who owns 4 ceramic goldfish (I plead the 5th.) And no one has to worry about sitting in a corner unnoticed because no one bothered to match them -- it's up to them to get up and do the work.

Everything here is a "Take the bull by the horns and take some initiative" experience. :)

If someone chooses to share about themselves, they can, and they get to choose who and how much they want to share. And if they should read other people's information and want to know more about them or start a conversation, it's totally up to them to start that conversation. But if someone doesn't want to participate at all, that's also totally up to them. Can you handle all having all those choices??? :p

This "matchmaking" thread completely cuts out the middleman/middlewoman (or in some cases, MEDDLING men/women :rolleyes:), and leaves it all up to the individual.
