Just out of curiosity...

Is that a giant roll of toilet paper in your avatar? (Top right?)

If so, be sure to list that as one of the things you have to offer. :D

These days, after finding the shelves empty for 2 months, it's one of the hottest commodities a person would be willing to share.
Hey now, it’s a geometric shape, a cylinder...whoops...which of course a roll of toilet paper is also🤓😁🤔.

I’ve been a member of CC for awhile. I haven’t made a lot of friends but I’m thankful for the few I made. Perhaps it’s because all of the friendly people are hanging out in the singles forum. Before I go any further, is this intrusive, since I’m married?
Hi Hungry,

Thank you for being so polite and asking!

We have several married friends who hang out here regularly. :) Thank you for stating up front that you are married. We singles appreciate this and hope everyone will always be honest about whether or not they have someone they're attached to (married or not.)

I wrote this thread with single people in mind, but as long as everyone is respectful of each other's boundaries (married people helping us get to know them or looking for same-gender friends, etc.), I personally don't see any reason as to why marrieds couldn't participate.

One of my all-time favorite threads here in Singles was by a married woman on Valentine's day in which she outlined what her Valentine's day was like with her husband and kids (pretty much a regular day for them.)

I loved her honesty and willingness to share her life, and thought it was an excellent way to help keep us singles realistic about romance without talking down to us.

We do try very hard to keep things friendly here, but the side effect is that we're often not seen as being "spiritual" or "focused on Jesus" -- which is exactly why I wrote my two threads regarding prayer right before writing anything about matchmaking.

We try to keep a lighthearted atmosphere here, but most importantly, we are all trying to help each other live out our singles lives in a way that God wants us to.

For @seoulsearch and everyone here "what is your personality type?" :)
https://www.16personalities.com/
Hi Sole!

Someday when I have a little more time, I'll have to retake the test and get back to you on this (or maybe we'll have another thread about personality types.) :)

I have to be honest in that I've seldom taken these tests because I'm always leary of them. You know how a lot of tests will give you tons of scenarios, then ask you to rate them somewhere between about 1 and 5? I almost always answer with 3's because I can usually go either way in most any circumstance, depending on what I know about the numerous factors involved.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I always feel like a personality score that's based on a majority of answers being "in the middle" is either going to make me sound apathetic or bipolar!

Posted elsewhere, but here I am again. Never married, no children. Middle Aged, a loner, very independent. Dont own a house, debt free, love road trips, holidays, coffees in the park talking to the ducks. I sew, knit, a small amount of gardening, very affectionate, been with the lord since primary school. Have had a few long term relationships with older woman, two who were rescues. I am retired early, so have plenty of free time, which is a real blessing.
Gregory, I've always found it intriguing that you sew and knit.

Who taught you and what are your favorite things to make?

Do you make your own clothes?

1. Name/What You Want to Be Called: Sub.

2. Location (you don't have to be specific; remember, anyone can see this), and Would You Be Willing to Relocate? NC.

7. Career, Hobbies, Interests? (Expand upon what you answered in the poll.) Disabled. I find myself often into music no one else likes. The Office. I have no interest in giving a list of interests. I find it more interesting to talk to people to find their interests.

8. What Do You Have to OFFER Someone Else? (Whether a friend or a significant other -- why might they be interested in you?) Well, as a friend, i listen well, and have good insights and advice. I can have deep, personal discussions or just goof off. I'm not such a fan of idle chit chat.

9. What Are You Looking For in A Friend and/Or Romantic Partner? In a friend, just someone reliable. Helpful. Fun. Though i'm now realizing there's nothing about my answers that seem to show i'm capable of having fun. Hmm...

10. Do You Think You Could Survive A Zombie Apocalypse? Why or why not? Literally, no. But that's a depressing story i won't get into. Oh, and Zombieland is the only good zombie movie. I find zombies dull =P

Hi Seoul!
Yep, I was thinking about starting another thread - recalling all the discussions and concerns...
Oh I totally get that and your apprehension - provides a very precise outcome of a lot of subjective information... Funny, I just retook it prior to posting the link (took 5 minutes - have to try hard not to over-think each question) - much to my surprise and appreciation - my results came out the same again... I've taken the test upwards of 5+ times in my adult life and find comfort in recognizing that my responses must be consistent as my results are always the same. While the algorithm recognizes the range of responses - it captures where folks tend to feel strongest on select questions.

Okay, since you are middle of the road and we know that you are an Introvert, and at the risk of recognizing that you just might not like to be associated with such a singular label - my guess is that you are more than likely a combination of several:

ISFP - Composer - Synthesizer, Synthesizing
INFP - Healer - Performing Noble Service to Aid Society
INFP - Counselor - An Inspiration to Others
ISFJ - Protector - High sense of duty

The good news is that you are NOT bi-polar... You obviously have multiple personalities - lol haha... ;)

Thanks again for doing this and for your inspiration here in cc...

That's alright. Even though I am married most of my posts are in the Singles forum because it's a fun and relaxed place to be to experience genuine Christian fellowship. Basically, I come here for the coffee and donuts.
Donuts?? I must get here too late all the time. Either that or the regulars are always hungry. Or perhaps Hungry is a regular. ;)

I know you've mentioned having a very extensive music collection before, Sub.

Did you grow up with it, or what got you into it? I didn't grow up with music, so I'm always interested in how other people develop their passions.

Also, in your opinion, what are the best mediums? (Vinyl, cassette, CD... ?)

Ok, and now for a list of questions and ideas to help get us talking to each other. Please do not feel pressured -- I know that for many people, shyness and not knowing what to say can be a crippling fear, so if you see something on this list you're not sure how to answer, just condense your reply into a few descriptive words.

For example, if asked how you feel about something, instead of giving a long explanation (which people are welcomed to do), others might just to just describe their feelings in a few word: "Cautious, but open-minded."

These are only suggestions. You can copy, paste, and answer as few or as many as you'd like, or just say what you'd like to say without using any of these ideas at all. :) That's why this is the Do-It-Yourself Thread -- you get to choose what you want to do! Feel free to add or subtract as many topics as you want.

Discussion Ideas/Helpful Information:

1. Name/What You Want to Be Called:

2. Location (you don't have to be specific; remember, anyone can see this), and Would You Be Willing to Relocate?

3. Number of Children:

4. Pets (what kinds and what are their names?):

5. How Long Have You Been Saved? Church Denomination, if you care to share?

6. Looking For Friendships or Romance, or Both?

7. Career, Hobbies, Interests? (Expand upon what you answered in the poll.)

9. What Are You Looking For in A Friend and/Or Romantic Partner?

10. Do You Think You Could Survive A Zombie Apocalypse? Why or why not?

Hope you all have fun with this! (I'll answer these questions myself in another post.)

Can't wait to see your answers. :)

(Helpful tip for newcomers: When looking at the poll, click on the blue numbers to be able to see who answered which selections.)

If you have any questions about how to participate, post, etc., just ask, and we'll try to help as much as we can. :)
Here's another ingredient to add to the mix. What about age range guidelines, Seoul, for those participating?

Yes, over 4000 digital albums.

My tastes were a little typical earlier on. As a kid we sometimes had the radio on with bands like Journey, but never really listened seriously. Then as an early teen i got into the 80s hair metal stuff. Later on into heavier things. And over the years i've added more and more into what i like. And my tastes got into some odd stuff haha. I can go from death metal to Frank Sinatra to a female Korean rapper to a Hassidic Jew doing reggae and beat boxing to lounge covers of metal/rock songs to movie scores to rockabilly, etc.. In fact i just finished a YouTube binge of Finnish hillbillies doing bluegrass covers of rock/metal songs.

I have to admit, at this point in my life i'm a fan of digital. Though i grew up mostly on CD's (and have a 900+ CD collection sitting out of state from 10 years ago). I have great memories of buying CD's, getting in my car and opening them up and the smell of the ink from the inserts and the drive home listening to my new music. There was always something wonderful about that.
But digital is so convenient. CD's are Heavy in bulk. And take up a lot of room to store. I've never been a fan of vinyl. And i started on cassettes, but rather glad to be past them. Nothing was more annoying than spending five minutes trying to find a song, and get it to the start, just to hear a three minute song. But they were great to make mix tapes and give them to friends to let them learn about new music.

But my tendency towards less popular styles was never intentional. I simply gravitated to it. And as i got older i naturally grew to appreciate more things, even things i once hated. But not country, most pop and CCM. Nope.

1. Name/What You Want to Be Called: LM or LilMerm haha

2. Location (you don't have to be specific; remember, anyone can see this), and Would You Be Willing to Relocate? Texas and I'm not sure. I guess if I fell completely in love like Jesus told me (He is the one!) then yeah I would move.

3. Number of Children: 0

4. Pets (what kinds and what are their names?) I personally do not have any pets. I live with my mom and she has four though haha. Two very small dogs, a cockatiel, and a large cat.

5. How Long Have You Been Saved? Church Denomination, if you care to share? I have known Jesus all my life but I really become focused about ten years ago when I was around 20. I go to a non-denominational church...but I think I really like the Southern Baptist denomination and wouldn't mind going to a church of the denomination.

6. Looking For Friendships or Romance, or Both?
I'm always looking for friends! I don't have very many in person because I get anxiety from social situations. If something more were to come from that then that's fine.

7. Career, Hobbies, Interests? (Expand upon what you answered in the poll.)
I like reading, studying, coloring, solving puzzles (mostly jigsaw), walking, and spending time with my family. I enjoy a few movies and shows too.

8. What Do You Have to OFFER Someone Else? (Whether a friend or a significant other -- why might they be interested in you?)
I think that I'm a good listener. Although, I can get pretty frustrated with someone that is super negative, I can usually help someone out that just wants someone to hear them out.

9. What Are You Looking For in A Friend and/Or Romantic Partner?
I enjoy friendships that are not too clingy and are kind. The reason I mention the clinginess is because I've noticed a few people throughout my life have clung to me and wanted to talk to me 24/7. It overwhelmed me. I don't mind talking to friends often even everyday! But I can't do it for hours everyday. :p

10. Do You Think You Could Survive A Zombie Apocalypse? Why or why not?
No way! The way I look at it is...if there are zombies in the world...why would I even want to survive? I would just be living in fear the whole time. I would much rather be one of the first ones to go. Call me a quitter but I don't want to stress out over it.

Martial Arts, exercising, history, makeup, strategy, interiors, languages, etc.

8. What Do You Have to OFFER Someone Else? (Whether a friend or a significant other -- why might they be interested in you?)

I’m not sure they would😂.

9. What Are You Looking For in A Friend and/Or Romantic Partner? An empathetic listener/someone who will take the lead (not easy, I know lol).

10. Do You Think You Could Survive A Zombie Apocalypse? Why or why not? I think I have already done on a couple of occasions lol.

Actually, you have quite the dating profile resume.

I believe that when I remarried over 5 years ago I was the one who got rescued. I was definitely in bad shape that's for sure. My wife took quite a risk in consenting to marry me but it appears to be paying dividends all because she saw the potential in me.

In prospective relationships there are many factors and variables to consider but if you really desire a loving enduring intimate romantic relationship eventually you must take a calculated risk and let the dice fly from your hand. It's all in the wrist (risk).
The last one I was with, was not coping financially or emotionally. Very kind woman, who had a narcissist for a husband who passed away from a heart attack. She lived alone in a large middle class house with her dog. felt quite sorry for her, so offered to move in and help with expenses. It started as a physical relationship, but that didnt last long. 19 years and still together and still sharing a house in another state. It is more of a sister/brother relationship , certainly not a marriage. Her family tells me she has come along way emotionally, spiritually and mentally since I appeared. Pleased me when I heard that, mission accomplished .

I don't make my own clothes, and I taught myself how to knit via you tube. I taught myself to sew initially but had some help from a very experienced sewer. I have lost my sew mojo for now, to much on my mind to focus on that.
