For those who do not get the last panel, both the guy and girl are pretending to be Star Wars fans (to avoid the big problem illustrated in the first six panels,) both the guy and girl do not know that each other is pretending and both are relieved because they think they have fooled each other.

Life is tough for Star Trek fans these days.
Ha, ha. I've seen this before, but I finally got it with your explanation! Thank you. :)

Up, I'm honestly surprised -- normally your posts are upbeat and uplifting.

You definitely have a right to your own opinion but here in Singles, it's normal for people to post about their hobbies and interests (check out Lynx's Secret Menu food that's going on right now.) Although there aren't any absolute rules, part of being single is not having anyone to talk to about our hobbies and interests, so we try to encourage that here in this part of the forum.

If you're telling BlessedByGod to grow up, you're going to have to scold a good number of the rest of us as well.

I was a kid when the original Star Wars came out and I still love the original 3 movies (let's not talk about the others -- in fact, let's just forget they exist.) :) I can still remember the movie trailer on TV and stopping whatever I was doing when it came on just to watch Luke swing across the screen in awe.

One day, my Dad gathered us kids up and said he was taking us somewhere, but we had to guess where we were going on the way there. The entire trip, all we could think of is that we were going to Grandma's house, because that's really the only place we had been. However, my Dad had other plans.

I can still remember him slowly driving past (what seemed like at the time) the GIANT billboard poster outside with Luke and Leia right on the front. Dumbfounded, we looked up at him as he pointed to it and said, "THAT is where we're going." Our family didn't have much money, but my Dad had saved enough to take us to the theater for the very first time. Back then, there was no such thing as rentals or streaming. If you didn't catch a movie while it was in theaters, it was gone forever, and all you could do was hope to catch the edited version on TV several years later.

My Dad later took us to The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi in a similar fashion.

I will always have an emotional connection to the original Star Wars trilogy. I felt a great connection to Luke's character because he was a nobody -- just an orphaned farm boy -- and even as a young child, I treasured that, because I had been an orphan too.

To me, Star Wars isn't about the things most people debate about when the subject comes up.

For me, Star Wars will always represent a father's love for his kids (not just any father, but MY father) and his quiet observation of something that became one of my most prominent childhood memories.

And that is a part of me that will unapologetically never grow up, no matter how much I might be scolded or criticized for that.

BlessedByGod, I've enjoyed this thread very much (it's a whole lot better than the Disney movies), and thank you for posting! :)
In a not shell, that there is what this thread is about!

Star Wars are bigger than the movies, although there are a lot of good things within the original 3 to learn from. We all have a connection to them for different reasons. But it also brings us together through our affection for them. I have my own stories about why they mean much to me as well. But, I also like a great many things about the first 3 too.
Anyway, well said and so glad your (and everyone with a love , affection, joy of , fond memory of Stars Wars or even the time period, no matter how old you are and which time period that would be) here!😀

A bit of pasting together here, but this is amusing for Star Wars and Star Trek fans alike. The Star Wars vs Star Trek movie.

PICARD: "I am not your enemy."
VADER: "The emperor does not share your optimistic appraisal."
Lol, nice! Good one!

We all have bad days. Seems I saw you do this once before (if my memory serves me corrctly). Instead of coming here, when you have a bad day looking to clash with others, perhaps use this site to talk with people and get it out in a positive way. A lot of kind people here that would listen I'm sure.
Thank you for the apology.

Aw, I'm really sorry to hear you're going through hard times, Up. With everything going on in the world today, it's pushing everyone to the brink and beyond.

It was sweet of you to offer an apology -- that's a very rare find these days -- but we all understand having bad days. I hope you'll feel free to come here and maybe tell us about it when you're going through hard times -- we have several "share whatever's on your mind" threads here, such as BBG's Chat Thread, Streams of Consciousness (an oldie but goodie, just like us!) :), and tourist's Midnight Confessions thread.

Feel free to PM if you need to talk.

You should have seen all the crazy stuff I wrote a couple of years back😁. For some reason all those posts are deleted, wiped out. Thank You, Lord😀. I still remember a conversation about a service weapon between me and Tommy that was a little out of tune to the extent that a mod had to scold us😁😁😁.

this thread is wrong section and it it's trying to manipulate the sisters in Christ, by fantasies of portraying non realistic plessures of self, so I stand in honor of God and the Women on here not to be bamboozled by inappropriate and un intellegence... Amen!

I watched the doco Bright Lights yesterday, it was about Debbie Reynolds and her daughter Carrie Fisher, you know Princess Leia in Star wars.

well it showed Carrie Fisher going to a Star Wars convention signing autographs and having a photo for $70. I am just wondering if anybody here went and got her autograph and got their picture taken with her. She said it was kinda like lapdancing.

May Carrie and her mother RIP. I was sad when they died, both great entertainers and wow what an amazing voice Carrie had (she got from her dad, Eddie Fisher) but she never became a singer.

Carrie was a good writer and wrote many novels and memoirs she was very funny. And Postcards from the edge was hilarious. But her daughter Billie was like do you write about anything other than yourself?

And Carrie would say if my life wasnt funny it would just be tragic.
