My wife and I were talking to one of the women I most respect at church about a transvestite we know. We were explaining (or TRYING to explain) a rather embarrassing situation that occurred.
After unsuccessfully trying to decipher our PC way of describing his obvious sexual excitement that dramatically distorted the fit of his/her tight dress, our friend came right out and said: "You mean he had a _________ on?
She only spoke the language and used the common street terminology I would have used in one of my therapy classes. The same term most of us have employed to describe that condition. But in our foolish thinking that we had to be different within the "hallowed" walls of church, we only made communication embarrassingly more difficult.
Guess what? I still respect her just as much today as I did before that conversation.
