Does Jesus' death on the cross pay for sin? If Jesus' death on the cross pays for sin, why does it pay for sin? And if Jesus' death on the cross pays for sin, does it pay for everyone's sin?

Yes, Jesus's death on the cross pays for the sins of all that he died for, which were only those that God gave to him and they will live in heaven eternally. After the sacrifice was made, God looks upon them as holy and without blame. They do, however commit sins, due to their fleshly nature, as they live their lives here on earth, which does not affect their eternal destination. Their sins do, however, affect their fellowship with God until they repent. All sins of God's elect must be atoned for.

The death of Jesus on the cross pays for the sins of people who believe Jesus and trust that His death on the cross pays for their sins..

The penalty for sin must be paid if Perfection is to be maintained.. Otherwise God would be seen to be corrupt turning a blind eye to evil.. But God is perfect and that's why we need to be redeemed by the payment of the penalty of our sins..

Jesus by His Death on the cross has secured the price to pay for the penalty for all the sins of the people who believe Him and trust in His payment.. The reason why Jesus can potentially pay for the sins of all the people in the world is because He is a Perfect sacrifice.. He is the Lamb of God.. The lambs that where sacrificed on the first Passover where to be unblemished lambs and their blood was put on the doors of the homes of the Jews so that the Angel of death would Pass Over their homes and would not take the life of the first born in that household.. The Angel would only take the life of the first born of each household that where not ""Covered by the Blood of a Lamb""..

The first Passover was a symbolic shadow of the future.. Jesus was the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world and He was executed on the day of Passover in i believe 30ad.. And anyone who believes and trusts in Jesus is covered by the blood of Jesus and thus on the day of judgement the Angels will not cast those people into the eternal Lake of fire.. They shall be deemed righteous on the day of judgement because of the Blood of the Lamb of God and worthy to enter into Gods perfect eternal existence..

The trouble with your thinking is that only his sheep hear his voice and understand it.

That's not what scripture says 2"He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world."The Book of 1st John chapter 2

How do you consolidate that statement with the one you made here in post #548
"The natural man, as described in 1 Cor 2:14, cannot discern the things of the Spirit until he has been born again with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (Eph 2:5). He cannot believe in spiritual things."

The crown of thorns gives an interesting perspective. Thorns are branches that miss the mark and do not bear fruit. When they were humiliating the Lord He was getting ready to send a message to all who believe. They crushed that crown down onto his head make many long deep holes in His head. after He died and had gone into the tomb it was time for the resurrection and the Lord came out of His tomb with the wound in His side, nail marks in each wrist and more nail holes in His ankles for a total of five wounds. The marks from the crown of thorns were gone. Those thorns represented our sin and if there were any of our sin left He could not have been resurrected because the wage of sin is death. Not only were our sins left in His tomb He bore on His Body how He had gotten rid of our sins. Five the number of His wounds is the number of Grace. I would say yes, yes, a million times yes.

Yes.

Hebrews 9:22
According to the law, in fact, nearly everything must be purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
And if Jesus' death on the cross pays for sin, does it pay for everyone's sin?
Yes.
1 John 2:2
He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

The trouble with your thinking is you believe God creates one group of people with no other option but to be sheep and another group of people with no other option but to be goats..

Yes His sheep hear His voice.. But each person is invited to come into the sheephold.. God just foreknows who will knock on the Door and come in and who will refuse to come..

Yes, God does have foreknowledge and foreknew that no one would knock.

John 10 does not mention anything about knocking. The sheepfold is God's elect on the earth. God is the porter. The door is the entrance to his elect (the sheep). Jesus is the shepherd of the sheep. God opens the door so that Jesus can enter into the sheepfold of his elect. When Jesus enters in the sheep hear his voice and he becomes the door and gives them eternal life. The only reference to "knock" is found in Matt, Luke and Rev, and the ones knocking are already his sheep.

That would have to be "the whole world of believers" otherwise, you would have to ignore John 6:38 which is not the whole world of mankind.

Just curious where it says the wounds from the thorns were not visible.

I rather think the thorns represent man's dead works to earn Salvation.

Since the Bible is crystal clear that all may be saved if all will repent and believe, it should be obvious that some don't really like the grace of God (deep down).

Jonah was a type of the Calvinist, who went into a snit because all of Nineveh was saved.

Jesus's death on the cross pays for our sin because the penalty of sin is death. There is no way around this truth. Everyone who has sinned whether they sinned once or more must pay for that sin with their own death. But Jesus acting as the Passover Lamb came as the universal Man just as Adan was the first man to represent Men. Adam fell and when ne did all men were now sinners and owed the wage of that sin, their death, or eternal condemnation. The Lord when He went to His cross lay His life down for all men who have ever been born. With His death every man now had access to the paid for bill for their sin but not all men will accept that paid bill. Some believe that the wage being death can't be to high a price. Others believe its too good to be true and reject it. Some buy other lies Satan hisses out and deceive men into rejecting the Lord Jesus. Everyone will one day have that bill for the wages of sin, death, handed to them at the end of our lives. When we stand before the Judge Jesus Christ we can either hand Him of paid in full bill through His death or tell Him we didn't accept His finished work and at that time we get to pay the wages of our sin with our own life and eternal separation from the God who died that you might live.

We can assume that each wound was listed and the only wounds not listed after the Resurrection are the wounds from the crown of thorns.

I believe every sinner had their sin paid for in full by the Death of the Lord Jesus. I believe every sinner has the free will to accept that bill paid in full by the Passover Lamb of God, Jesus Christ but not everyone will accept His payment. As each goat who rejects the Lord's sacrifice is assembled they will know a few things.

1) the love of God for them and their separation from Him forever. This I think will be the one piece of knowledge that will make hell, hell.

2)the knowledge that they have an unused paid bill for their sin and their rejection of that Paid in Full sacrifice.

3) the knowledge that the "chief of sinners" me and a whole bunch just like me have been taken and the only reason is we took the promise in faith.

4) every knee will bow before Him and will know before they enter eternity headed in the wrong way will leave here with the knowledge all the Lord and all He did for each of us and this is going to be the worst part of being thrown into the Lake of Fire. That knowledge that we turned our back on the Lord will be unbearable.

What do you think is going to be the worst part of being in hell will be?

John 1:29
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

John 1:12-13
But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God.

John 3:18
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Yes. I think this is a pretty good summation.
Trampling on the Blood of Christ and the Spirit of Grace. They won’t be able to repay what Jesus has already paid.
