(Sensitive topic) Why did God allow killing in the bible when the commandments says though shalt not kill?

As it is written in Romans that magistrates are often the administrator of God's wrath against evil doer,. As for the numerous punishments through out the Leviticus and Deuteronomy, that were capital crimes it was as God said, " in this way you put evil away from you."
I don't see anywhere that God was ok with rape. I think that was a stoning offence.
In other words there is a huge difference in murdering someone and engaging in the administration of justice.

He didn't. The Israelites were not Christians. However the planet was still very tribal and the majority of worshiped false Gods and a very large number worshiped at lth leas several to many Gods including demigods (which were realy humans) venerated as god's. Homosexuality and fornication were rampant. Then there are disease's and bestiality's too.

there was a lot of killing in Joshua or Judges? but that was mostly war related. i cant remember exactly.
Anyway if the OP worded her post a little differently I might agree. I only read Joshua and Judges this year. Some of the bloodshed is shocking to a modern reader. Imnot fond of those books anyway.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge (understanding) on the subject. I am trying to read through the whole bible this year. (Currently at 2 kings). That's mostly what I am referring to, the war related parts of the bible. I know there is meaning behind it. I don't believe there is any fault in God or the bible just a lack of understanding, but I thought killing of any sort would be a sin. Didn't kings kill other kings or sons and as someone mentioned put away evil and such. I can't quote or recall actual scripture at the moment.

To be simple you have to look at context. Some commands was God commanded. And people like Joshua or Saul would carry it out.
Sometimes in context like Saul got a command to go to war but failed to listen to the details of God. And those failures are not on God but on Saul who disobeyed.
Other times was completely out of rebellion and not commanded by God.
Bible stated do not murder. Well if God who was the General of his nation commands them to war then that isnt murder.
