Me and some family members have decided to go to a Church next Sunday, and there are only two options. Catholic church and Russian Orthodox. I've only read about the early church in the Bible and don't know much about modern churches. How are we expected to behave in there and which option is closer to the truth? What do people usually come to do there? Do I just watch people praying from a distance or is there a way to get "in"?

I'd choose the Russian Orthodox Church. I think it's not as bad as the Roman Catholic Church.

Why don't ya just try both? and then make your minds up and don't worry about the traditions of men, { all the little rituals they feel they need to preform, it's not their house, it's Gods} and listen to what is being said about God. I have a little rule of thumb when deciding if the person preaching is worth my time I count how many times they the word I in the first 10 mins sadly many fail the test.

If anyone is speaking in the fidrst person singular, he must say I. This is never a sign of egtism, simply correct grammar. It would be weird if we always spoke in the third person????

As for where God is, we are the church, the assembly, the houses may or may not have God near. This is easily determined when we feel the Presence of the Holy Spirit.

Is there only two?, have you done any extensive researching in your area, maybe smaller gatherings are happening in smaller venues buildings, coffee shop, park, someone’s house etc.

That is true. However you will not find New Testament Christianity in those churches, and neither will you find the true Gospel.

Don’t know where Novosibirsk is, but some of those faces don’t look like they are enjoying it. this is orthodox

lots of hocus pocus going in both churches

holy water and other ridicilous unbiblical evil. but i'd say orthodox is tamer version so if you must choose between those two id say that. i would rather look at any protestant denomiantion.

if u are in israel as you say in profile. there are many protestant churches theere.

The gospel is read during each Catholic mass. The homilies are typically based on readings from the New Testament. During each mass the church acknowledges the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as 3 beings but one God. Also that Jesus died for our sins, was crucified, died, and was buried and after 3 days rose from the dead. Sounds like New Testament Christianity to me.

According to Wikipedia there are a plethora of Christian churches in Israel.

Where two or more are gathered in my name JESUS said....I AM IN THE MIDST....

Why not take your family, a bible, pray together, read and study a passage of scripture and praise God together.....
