Joshua Harris the author of 'I Kissed Dating Goodbye' is leaving his wife, leaving his faith and apologizing to the LGBTQ community.

I remember reading his books as a young Christian in my late teens. I thought the ideas were awesome and helpful. When he took back what he said in his books, I knew it was just a matter of time. I knew something was wrong. I'm so sad but I hope and pray he comes back to the light.

That's ok. According to many on this site, one cannot leave their faith. They remain saved whether they want to be or not.

Thanks @LittleMermaid. I noted that Harris said he fell away from the Christian faith, from believing in Jesus. Do you know if he's written how or why he believes this happened to him

I too was sad to hear this. I was intrigued by a thread in the singles forum here one day. I was going to refer I kissed dating goodbye because I remember reading it and how it made so much sense. In the days before this I had found out disturbing news of "christian" artist who had confessed homosexual lifestyles and turned from the faith. I must admit, it deeply disturbed me.
With that being so fresh in my mind, I felt a nudging (if you will) telling me to check out Joshua Harris........ I was surprised to learn the news and thus DID NOT write the reply I wanted in the thread........

I bet if you were a politician you'd be the kind to go to a shooting funeral and use it to talk about gun control.

No, no, actually I would make a case for human control; but I think we all know how far that would get.

Always sad to see this. Unfortunately most leave the faith due to personal issues and not logical reasons. As in he has said nothing so far to give any reason for leaving the faith based on its untruthfulness. So far everything said has been personal feelings.

Well made point RickyZ. This is what I have been saying all along, that is that we are saved by grace through faith, a faith from beginning to end and not just a one time confession. I compare it to the believer being the plug and God's grace being the wall outlet. As long as the believer remains plugged in (continuing in faith) they remain connected to God's saving grace. However, once they unplug (apostasy/fall away), they have wandered from the truth and are accumulating sin which leads to death. If once saved always saved was true, one would have to wonder why all the warnings to believers throughout the Bible to not be willfully living according to the sinful nature. Why worry about it if one is saved no matter how they live? I believe Paul succinctly answered this question when he said:

"But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy, unblemished, and blameless in His presence— if indeed you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope of the gospel you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant."

So, being presented holy, unblemished and blameless, is dependent on what is emboldened in black above.

The bible says that a person who Is saved will seek to purify themselves even as they are pure,In other words If they were really saved they won't walk away.

Did he turn gay or something? I dont understand, the article didnt give a reason, and then all of a sudden hes apologizing to the lbqt community. Hes leaving his wife for.....someone else, or to live on his own in an apartment and get weekend visits or what? And why does he have to announce it in the paper.

Or is he just going on holiday or quitting church to do...what? Sit by himself? Do art?

Again, you neglect to take 1 John 2:19 into account. If this fellow goes the rest of his life in unbelief it proves HE WAS NEVER saved to begin with, NOT that he was saved, born again, and died a Spiritually death again.

It is not "once saved always saved". It's Once BORN AGAIN, FOREVER HIS CHILD! Of course OBAFHIC doesn't quite have the ring to it as OSAS does! LOL

As for the warnings, I believe they are there for those that THINK they are saved. Paul is exhorting those who take the Name of Lord, Christians, to examine THEMSELVES, and if they are caught up in some of the laundry list of sins chronicled in several epistles, they must repent, NOT OF THE SINS (although that will come) but that they have never truly believed that Jesus IS God come in the flesh, HAS DIED for THEIR sins, rose on the 3rd day, and that NOTHING they do can aid Him in what He has done for them and to them.

This is why I am so troubled by those that think God will toss some of His Children in hell, by losing their Salvation because of something THEY did, or didn't do. I am concerned if they truly DO believe Jesus' atoning Sacrifice is enough. I am not angry or care about scoring pts. I am saddened by them.

You see, if one is truly born again, the HOLY SPIRIT will work in a person's life to mold and shape them into the likeness of Jesus. We ARE good trees! We are sheep! We don't vacillate between being a good or bad tree, or a sheep and a goat.

So this answer implies you don't believe that anyone can commit the unforgivable sin, please share your thoughts on Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5?

If you believe that once you are gifted with the Holy Spirit you are can never deny GOD; you are also saying there is no such thing as the unforgivable sin which Jesus himself taught us is possible.
Matthew 12:31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

according to GOD's commandments which is the greater sin homosexuality or adultery (both seem to be running rampant in this time) or is all sexually immoral sin equal? Keeping in mind an involuntary semen emission renders a body unclean for a time.
Leviticus 15:16 “If a man has an emission of semen, he shall bathe his whole body in water and be unclean until the evening.

So you don't believe it is possible to commit the unforgivable sin?
