Hidden treasure and pearl: what matters?

what truly matters is the hidden 'treasures' stored-up for us from God,
(and what we choose to do with them). - all else would be 'worldly choices,
thus showing us that we will truly 'reap what we sow''...

The parable is about finding something of such value you will give up everything one owns to have it.
It is just saying, what is this thing that has greater value than anything else if life? And when you find
it will you react appropriately or just let it sail on by.

Speculation runs high with this one bones......so far I have not seen anything of value come from his stylus.......!!

Jesus is talking about the kingdom of heaven......that is the subject...what it is like........he is not talking about the word of God or a merchant.
Someone here missed that completely.

What I see in this scripture is that Jesus gave up His royalty as Son of God and lowered Himself into humanity because He valued us as precious as the most valuable pearls. I looked at the definitions and saw that in “one” pearl it’s actually one after another...all. So ocean would be accurate.

Even while yet ungodly. That’s hard to comprehend.

What is the meaning of the illustration about the traveling merchant and that of the hidden treasure?
In Jesus’ day, some merchants would travel great distances to obtain the finest pearls. The merchant in this illustration represents righthearted people who go to great lengths to satisfy their spiritual needs. The “one pearl of high value” pictures the precious truth of the Kingdom. Having recognized the value of that pearl, the merchant was willing to sell “promptly” all the things he had so that he could buy it. Jesus also spoke of a man who was working in a field and found “hidden” treasure. Unlike the merchant, this man was not searching for treasure. But like the merchant, he was willing to sell “everything” in order to obtain the treasure.

Why did Jesus give those two parables?
He was showing that the truth is found in different ways. Some people are searching for it and have gone to great lengths to find it. Others, although not searching for it, have found it—perhaps by having it brought to them. Whatever the case, each man recognized the value of what he had found and was willing to make huge sacrifices to get ahold of it.

How can we benefit from these two illustrations?
Ask yourself: ‘Do I have the attitude that these men had? Do I treasure the truth in a similar way? Am I willing to make sacrifices to get ahold of it, or do I allow other things, such as the cares of daily life, to distract me from it?’ (Matt. 6:22-24, 33; Luke 5:27, 28; Phil. 3:8) The deeper our heartfelt joy about finding the truth, the stronger our determination to keep it first in our life will be.

Pearls are used to describe the source of the faith Christ needed to hear God. Among other metaphors used in parables. Wheat, corn, bread butter, milk honey . . . etc

The gates by which we enter into fellowship that describe the bride of Christ in Revelation 21 are typified as pearls . It represent the Hidden Manna in Revelation 2. Pearl is color of manna . Manna which means with no other meaning added ."What is it?" Taste like honey . As a way of knowing the word of God is not of ourselves. No familiarity as if God was a man as us to begin with .Even his own family world not exercise faith and believe. But as many as did to them he gave the power to become new creatures.

I know you meant the new creation man or woman that we are when we receive Jesus, but the KJV states Sons of God. I would not have seen anything differently either Garee, but I believe I see a greater revelation of what it means to be Sons.

We all are His children, this is truth. And this is by grace through faith. But, then we have the Bride, and we have Sons. These terms have to do with our call. And I fully believe we will know what our individual call is from the very beginning of our regeneration. None of this means superiority over others in any way, for it is personal obedience to the individuals will of God to serve both God first, then to others.

In His body, we all are members and each part does its own function.

OT Feast of Unleavened (represents the sinless Christ) Bread (Christ is the Bread of Life).

On Nisan 14 the Passover Lamb is killed. On the day after the Sabbath (1st day of the week) The Priest brings a sheaf/bundle of the newly sprouting grain. He lifts-up/waves this sheaf/bundle as a thanksgiving dedication before God. This action sanctified the whole harvest feild. See Deut 26 & Lev 23:9-11

1 Cor 15:

20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
(NOTE: Everyone (The Whole Field) will be resurrected)

Christ's resurrection sanctified the entire humam race/field for a future resurrection. Believers to eternal life with the Lord, rejecters to eternal life separated from the Lord.

The priceless veiled/hidden treasure represents God's Heavenly Kingdom. The lifted-up/Resurrected Christ's sinless payment for for the field DEATH is also priceless

I would agree. Never thought of it in that way as a call . Good idea that they have to do with our call receiving the end of the matter our new incorruptible bodies. What they will be like no one knows .We do know it will be called the wife of Christ. (Revelation 21) And procreation will not a part of the new order. .

Sons of God seems to speak of the born again spirit of mankind (men and woman) called "gods "as many that are led by the Spirit of God".. No distinction between male and female in the calling.

I have been looking at a passage in Revelation that speaks of the bride of Christ shown by the use of the word virgin. At first appearance it would seem to be saying male abstinence is the key . They were redeemed from mankind called among men described like that of Timothy as the chaste virgin bride the church. There are many that would make the virgin the flesh of a male Jew. as if we walked by sight after the temporal. .Just as with the picture of the chaste virgin bride in Revelation 12 coming down on the last day .Chapter 11 opening the way .

Revelation 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the first fruits unto God and to the Lamb.

2 Corinthians 11:2For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ

Revelation 12 King James Version (KJV) And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

The pearl of great price is the Church (all those redeemed through Christ) and the great price that was paid was His death (the one great sacrifice for sins) and the blood that He shed for our redemption. Those who have been saved are the purchased possession of God and Christ. The same interpretation applies to the treasure that was hidden in a field.

How many merchants sell their souls for money!

Jesus forfeited his soul (his life on earth) to gain the whole earth and he was the only one capable of doing so.

Jesus speaks of himself and what gain did he (personally) have?

His bride-church.

Jesus didn't carry roman denarius where it was written: Tiberius Caesar GOD, and he didn't carry Anthipa's money too,

Crist has gained bis spouse wich is more tha a good pearl.

The parables concern two men and not Jesus. The first man was a poor hired digger who did not strive to promply sell the few things he owned.

The second man was a rich merchant.

The bad weeds are in the field of Jesus, where he sow his word, the world that received the good news.

41 The angels will collect out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling and people who practice lawlessness and they will pitch them into the fiery furnace.

44-45 parables of treasure and pearl.
