Ok, exclude that last statement.

What is the consequence of finding out you were wrong for believing in cessation?
I don't know, you seek it less, pray for it less, are more hardened to accepting certain things. I mean maybe they are more draw to other ministries, for God to use in other capacities. There is not a mold God has that we all fit into, this is one of the most amazing things to me is that God is sovereign over all our choices, to me it's incomprehensible, but I wouldn't worship a God that was completely understandable. Having said that, I do have to admit I say that from this side, with opened eyes, before God opened them I couldn't care less about these kinds of things. Jesus told us that people will know us by our love for each other, if I believe different than you, on matters like this, I can share in love how I see it and how God has brought me to understand this, then I sit back and listen to you and how God has walked you to your understandings, you know what? He can use you to grow him a bit, and even maybe him to grow you. Or you go your own way thinking you wasted your time at reflect on the conversation, maybe you were a bit harsh here, or "bing, understand what he meant when he said that now" and God grows you that way. In ALL things He grows us. God is amazing and EVERYTHING is in His hands.

So I'm not trying to really debate you on this issue. I go to a church at affirms these things, I don't practice tongues in this way because #1 I tend to understand them to be a actual language, for people who can't communicate to communicate. How ever I do honestly think there is enough language in the text to leave room for this practice. That aside I believe that if they do it for His glory, if they are doing it in Him then praise the Lord for it. I truly believe this falls under Rom 14:1-12,

1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written,

“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall confess to God.”

12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

So that's how He's has lead me to see it thus far.

So are you saying that those that don't speak in tongues are not serious God pursuers?
I believe you can be a serious God pursuer and not speak in tongues.
It didnt go that way for me because i got saved in revival.
The church departed from tongues.
Tongues never departed from the church.
When i got saved,i was the only one in the fellowship that didn't speak in tongues.
I went after it. Didn't get it for months.
I was already willing to think maybe God had something lesser for me. Or it wasnt my path, but on the other hand it was like i knew i NEEDED that infilling. So i kept going after it. I would get alone and talk to God about it. Pressing in to the throne. Seemed like an eternity.
Then one sunday as i got in my van to go to church,i heard crystal clear "today you will recieve the baptism in the Holy Spirit"
Back then there was no "tongues issue" EVERYBODY recieving the baptism spoke in tongues.
The first one prayed for me and it was a dud. Nothing. Zero
I did not know what to think. I KNEW. God said different.
I went outside visibly disappointed.
One of the intercessors who i knew, marge and dora heard me talking and said "what"?
They grabbed me,took me in and wham,i got hit.
I never got hit like that. It was like lightning struck me.
Marge said "say something"
Tongues,another language,flowed like a river from me.
That was in 1977 on mothers day

The video clip in post #153 was to illustrate that there is POWER in the Name of Jesus (not the titles of Father, Son, Holy Ghost), and we are to be baptized full immersion into the water having the Name of Jesus pronounced over us as the Word of God says to do.

In Matthew 28:19 Jesus was telling them what to do, NOT what to repeat verbatim. And, they went out fulfilling the command baptizing in Jesus name.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

-Thank you.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
I got the impresion that this referred to the body as a whole. One part castng out devils, another speaking with new tongues. The idea of the body consisting of different body parts is Biblical, yes?

Wow, I was kind of surprised from the reaction to this post, but praise God it looks like you brought everyone together to directly oppose what you're saying in unity. to be honest I think Acts 2 does describe what you're saying here. Let's read what it says.

2 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

"Praise Jesus!!!"

5 Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. 6 And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. 7 And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, 11 both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.”

Now I can see a case being made that maybe different people were speaking in different tongues, like each group had someone speaking in their tongue, but to be honest I think the text supports what he is saying more. I do not believe this 1 event defines completely what tongues is, as in I think in different parts of the Bible tongues is described a bit differently that expands on what tongues is and is used in a believers life.

So as far as the way you worded it as if this is the only "tongues", as if this is what "tongues is", I do disagree with that. That does not have any bearing on my agreeing with you that I believe this is absolutely supported by the text here. In my opinion of course.
Whats funny to me is one who was "correcting" you completely inserted an interpreter into the text as if that was a FACT, and the text clearly and very specifically says " we hear, each of us in his own native”, yet rebukes you and complete inserts an interpreter??? Please point me to the part where that is written.
Like the word of God,tongues is not one dimensional.
I can sing, pray, prophesy, and intercede in tongues.

Speaking in tongues and then interpreting is what is known as "tracking with God"
A big horn sheep, tracks with his fron and back feet. His back feet will always track to the same spot as his front feet.
That is why "he maketh my feet like hinds feet" means more in the spirit, than just mentally thinking i am more nimble or something.

You know, when Christ returns and restores creation to it's pre-fall perfection!
Yep
Vs 12 proves it so.
In no way is it referring to the black book.
Cessationists backsliders duped cessationists followers.
Most everytning in the Spirit is hinged on my starting place.
Where I begin is pivitol.
It determines what and the volume of the stuff that needs culling. To be taught wrong is a travesty.
"I would that not many of you be teachers, for they fall under a harsher judgement"

Thank you Jesus that no matter what my experience is ,i can authenticate it ,or reject it, through your word.

Well I am very sorry to have offended you with that statement you highlighted. So if you have studied so diligently then you cannot get around the fact that the gifts of the spirit were only imparted by the 12 apostles of Christ. The gift of languages was a specific message to the unbelieving Jews in an intelligible language not mindless blabber that I have seen in churches and once also spoke.
Once the apostles died and those they had imparted any gifts also died the gifts were no longer available. The gifts served their purpose.. it’s over.
Thats like saying " only the romans read romans"

I mean it just has to be a fact. It says "to the romans"

So it is only to them. And only they read it.

It must be hard to know you were deceived:(
Thats like saying "what if we are decieved and really not saved"

Uh,yeah,some go down that path.
Rabbit trail.

Every church has some fakes.
Jesus chose and operated with one.
It actually advanced his ministry.
Fakes don't make a basis for overreach.
It is akin to throwing away a stack of twenties because it had 3 fake bills in it.
Or saying " i hated the military while i was in there. Therefore all those guys are fake ,and deceived"

Well the bright side is I have learned a lot and now know a lot more truth and understand the bible a lot better than before.
My beliefs are in a very small minority maybe one percent of Christianity. From what I have seen in almost every church is false doctrine upon false doctrine. People accept what they are taught and don’t really study the bible for themselves to find out the truth.
Not only that the English translation of the bible is full of errors which give more cover to some false beliefs.
Faith is the antidote for doubtitis

You have really missed the point of the scriptures haven’t you? The healings and the miraculous signs etc were signs for the nation of Israel to prove Jesus was the “Anointed One” and that the twelve were eye witnesses to the things Jesus had done. That was there only purpose. It was not for all time and for everyone.
Yes we all know Jesus lost all his power when you say he did.

What a worthy pursuit

Where does the bible state that the gifts will cease prior to the fulfillment of the church's ministry? It does not. It states when that which is perfect is come; meaning Jesus. Spiritual gifts will no longer be needed when Jesus returns for the church; His bride.
Yep
Seems impossible to muddy up a no brainer

Your comment about the bible being full of errors that cause people to acquire false beliefs is nonsense. If that statement were so God would be unable to judge people fairly. And God is a just God!

How can someone be judged for rejecting God's word if what we have at our disposal is corrupted?

"He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak." John 12:48-50
Yep,and we have the greek interlinears etc.

We have the word of God

you know what Waggles?

the Bible does actually say...as recorded by Paul, that not everyone speaks in tongues

that is what the Bible states yet you disagree

it is pretty arrogant, IMO, that you put a thumbs down on that post because you think differently

we agree on the gifts and yet you go and put a thumbs down

you put a thumbs down on a post that states exactly what the Bible says

you go BEYOND scripture and that is when the trouble begins.

people have created cults that same way

Paul would raise an eyebrow at you and probably correct you.
