So then you will be keeping the Ten Commandments!

You just said they did not apply to Christians.
No man can keep the Ten Commandments.JESUS said that the words HE spoke are spiritual and life,so how do you yourself keep GODS perfect standard of righteousness?

JESUS Is the VINE we are the branches, members of the body receiving sustenance from the VINE and displaying spiritual fruit establishing the law.

We have been here before. Of course we can keep the Ten Commandments if we wish. God would not tell us to do the impossible. Jesus commanded us to "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." Meaning we submit to a higher authority. By your dismissal of the law, you make yourself above the law, and that you are not. Those laws are given for us to Keep otherwise we are being disobedient to God.

I have never heard such nonsense in all my life and as a consequence I am going to put you on ignore, the same as Grandpa. Goodbye.

The rich young ruler asked JESUS,good master what must I do to Inherit Eternal Life and JESUS asked him,why do you call me good, there Is only one that Is good and that Is GOD.?

Since the rich young ruler called JESUS good rather than seeing GOD In CHRIST ,JESUS dealt with him according to the law.

JESUS told him you know the commandments and JESUS was talking about the commandments under law and since we know that no one can fulfill the law In the way that GOD will accept any man that tries to keep the ten commandments and not keep them perfectly will come short of the glory of GOD because of the weakness of the flesh, remember that under law If the law Is offended at ANY point then the whole law has been offended.

So then the ruler should have called on GOD In CHRIST.
Instead, the rich young ruler looked at JESUS as a man Instead of calling on GOD In CHRIST.

JESUS said that the words HE speaks, they are Spirit and they are life.

I don't think he wants to hear it...

Some things are too difficult for people to understand.

We need the Lords Help and not everyone gets it.

The ten commandments are already "retired" in Christ.

Christ and Paul both tell us this would and did happen.

People either don't want to hear it or can't hear it.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

All ten commandments are still in effect for all time for every person. They were in effect before mt.Sinai
How do we get to heaven, remember there was two covenants.
Are we supposed to follow the new covenant, the old and the new covenant or follow only the new covenant?

Very good question. We are saved by law keeping.
The thing is, it is not our keeping of the law, but Jesus kept the law perfectly for all believers and His perfect law keeping and active obedience is put to our account. We live in the time of the New Covenant, which is also spoken of as the Blood of the Everlasting Covenant;
20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Most people do not believe the Biblical God or His word as revealed in scripture. God works through several means to draw a person to see what Jesus has come to do.
When God lets a person see their sin versus God's Holy law, and demands...they repent from sin and believe He is the only way. God has given them a new heart where they welcome the same scriptures they previously opposed.

With reference to John 3:5, Nicodemus who was well versed in the Old Testament would have been familiar with the prophesy in Ezekiel chapter 36. Actual water is not involved. This is why Jesus said to Nicodemus in verse 10 "Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?"

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. (Eze 36:25-27 KJV)

Water baptism does not take our sins away, rather it is an outward commitment we make when we give our life over to God. As a result of letting Christ into our heart and life, we are filled with the Holy Ghost, after which we look for the outward manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit that seem to be sadly lacking in our modern society.
You must address all the biblical references with convincing no's...to be persuasive. Even the one you listed is absent.
Don't mix sprinkle of water for cleanliness with the need for complete submersion for sin cleansing.

You are into ...new age religion beliefs....a no no.

We were talking about water baptism, and although many, many people were and are baptised in water, as I was, (full immersion when I was old enough to commit my life to Christ) Jesus never actually made it a commandment. Water is symbolic of cleansing but we know it is not being submerged in water that cleanses from sin, but it is being washed in the precious blood of the Lamb that cleanses from all sin.

Indeed, according to the Law almost everything is purified by blood, and sins are forgiven only if blood is poured out. Those things, which are copies of the heavenly originals, had to be purified in that way. But the heavenly things themselves require much better sacrifices. For Christ did not go into a Holy Place made by human hands, which was a copy of the real one. He went into heaven itself, where he now appears on our behalf in the presence of God. The Jewish high priest goes into the Most Holy Place every year with the blood of an animal. But Christ did not go in to offer himself many times, for then he would have had to suffer many times ever since the creation of the world. Instead, now when all ages of time are nearing the end, he has appeared once and for all, to remove sin through the sacrifice of himself. Everyone must die once, and after that be judged by God. In the same manner Christ also was offered in sacrifice once to take away the sins of many. He will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are waiting for him. (Heb 9:22-28)

So what was Jesus teaching Nicodemus in Joh 3:5-6 when he told Nicodemus
"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

From Old Testament scripture Nicodemus should have been familiar with the comparison of water to the cleansing of the Holy Spirit.

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
(Isa 55:1 KJV)

Isa 12:2-3 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

Jesus further compared water to the Holy Spirit in Joh 7:37-39 when Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Further we read in Eph 5:26-27 where the spiritual cleansing that comes from believing in the word of God is compared to being washed in water so that:-
He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (Joh 4:7-14 KJV)

In summery, being washed in water does not save us from sin, instead we need to be washed in the blood of the Lamb. :)

May God bless.

Just to add. The ancient Jewish custom of mikveh or baptism was required of both women and men who were converting to Judaism. It was also for a sign of purity before the Sabbath.

But Christ was baptised for another reason. He had to be anointed as a high priest from God. This meant being washed with water (Ex 29:4) (Matt 3:16), and anointed with oil (Ex 29:7) (Matt 3:16). The dove that came upon his head was the symbol of the anointing oil and the Holy Spirit.

Christ is a high priest in the order of Melchizedek (Psalm 110:4) (Heb 6:20).

What does keeping the sabbath day holy (7th day) have to do with morality?

Is someone who rests on Saturday morally pure?

Is someone who works on Saturday morally corrupt?
I suppose the word here would be obedience. It is to have enough love for God and trust to do as He says.

You think going to church on Saturdays is obedience to God?

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

That doesn't really apply to going to church on saturday does it? You don't need Christs help to stop working on saturdays, right?

You will need Christs Help if you TRULY want to be obedient to the Law.

Good post! In John 3:5, Jesus said, "born of water and the Spirit" He did not say born of baptism and the Spirit. To automatically read baptism into this verse simply because it mentions "water" is unwarranted. Scripture interprets itself.

*Notice in John 7:37-39, "On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink." He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of LIVING WATER. But this He spoke concerning the SPIRIT. If "water" is arbitrarily defined as baptism, then we could just as justifiably say, "Out of his heart will flow rivers of living baptism" in John 7:38. If this sounds ridiculous, it is no more so than the idea that water baptism is the source or the means of becoming born again.

In John 4:10, Jesus said, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." In John 4:14, Jesus said, "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. *Jesus connects this living water here with everlasting life. *Living water is not water baptism. In 1 Corinthians 12:13, we also read - ..drink into one Spirit.

we need to abide Gods commandmets. They are not up for dispute. Do as He said willingly.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

We need to be obedient to His commandments. Thats why He wrote them. And to abide by them is the proof of faith and love for Him.

oh here we go again

please ... would all Christians reading this thread put up their hands if they think they can go out and sin like a boat full of pagan sailors?

yes..it's time you filthy sinners finally admitted it and started leaving the vowels out of God's name

does the understanding Christ fulfilled all the obligations of the law just fly over people's heads in their haste to put themselves back where Christ took them out of?

you know, there are enough cults and weirdos out there professing to be Christian, without constantly constantly arguing about whether or not Jesus needs us to help Him along

or whether or not those who write G-D are more holy than those who just jump in and say God without worrying if they have offended GOD

while y'all are so busy redefining grace and believing you are securing a special spot beside God in heaven, the country is in desperate need of people to plead with God that the plots and plans of the wicked in government cannot succeed

you have liberty now to have discussions like this, but if you wish to keep it, consider what is going on in the government right now and pray
Yay to you! The truth may get many angry but so what. Nice work in speaking the truth and giving the solution of prayer. God bless....
