The real question is, was that the same gospels the 12 were preaching in the 4 gospels and early acts?

Depends what you mean by wrath - but we know from Paul that there was more happening:

Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

2 Cor 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.


Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Eph 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Eph 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

Hi LeeLoving, the Gospel, which is the "Good News", necessarily includes the "bad news" too :eek:

First off though, the "news" is this, God is holy and righteous, and we need to be like Him if we want to stand before Him in the age to come. That means that we need to be:

1. innocent (never sin)
2. righteous (never fail to do all of God's will)

The "bad news" is, no one has ever been able to do either of those, so no one is either innocent or righteous.

The "Good News", on the other hand, is this, God sent His Son here to do for us what we could not do for ourselves :)

He died in our stead on the Cross so that our sins could be atoned for and the wrath of God against us abated/satisfied, and He lived a perfect righteous/holy life ~for us~/on our behalf, the life that we needed and were supposed to lead before His Father.

Therefore Jesus is our only innocence, our only righteousness, and the only atonement for our sins.

His Resurrection is the proof and guarantee that God accepted what Jesus did for us, and that we will be saved/receive eternal life from Him from the moment we first believe (and then forevermore) on the basis/merit of what 'He' did for us, alone, just like God promised that we would (y)(y)

See .. John 3:16, 5:24, 20:31, 2 Corinthians 5:21.

So the Gospel, (which is concisely) "Jesus Christ and Him crucified", has 3 different parts to it, His life, His death, and His resurrection.

No, that is the story of Christ and what He did for the sins of the people of the world. The Gospel is about the Kingdom of God: Matt. 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."

The real Gospel is not just about what Christ has done for the first fruits church, but that Christ is the hope of any man's path to immortality. God created us and then put in our hearts the desire for immortality, but seemingly no way to achieve that. The Gospel is once He establishes His Kingdom on the Earth, that path will become apparent. :)

great question.
i found it to be explained in the old testament through the sanctuary. It was given to explain what is happening in heaven and point forward to the coming messiah.
Heb 8:5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

When we sin we are meant to die. Rom_6:23 For the wages of sin is death; Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
So people were asked to bring an innocent Lamb or animal to the outer court and kill it, their sins were placed on it and it died for them.
The blood was taken into the sanctuary by the priest and placed on the veil. The blood (your sins) would remain there before the mercy set until the cleansing of the sanctuary (the day of atonement, Lev 16).

It all points to Jesus.
He is our lamb, sin bearer. He is the priest so that when the day of atonement (our judgement) comes we have an advocate.

Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Jesus's work didn't finish at the cross,
Heb 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Heb 9:25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

2 Pet 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

The Father loves the Son. Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God, never didd anything to incur wrath, . The Father could never be wrathful with the Son, but, yes, the Son has destroyed the curse of the law for us on the cross, that being the sting of deaeth due to our sin.

Think about it, there is only one creature who may be wrathful with our Lord, and it is not our Fasgther.

Guojing, some of them, perhaps, were preaching a different gospel, or Paul and Barnabas wouldn't have went to the Jerusalem church to exhort them not to require gentile Christians to be circumcised and keep the law(Acts 15).

(Matthew 3:2) Before the cross, the distinctive element of the gospel that Paul taught and came to him through a revelation of Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:11-12; Ephesians 3:1-9) was still a mystery.

Jesus Christ sent the twelve to preach only to Israel. Matthew 10:5 - These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ The disciples were specifically told to go only to the people of Israel, and they were not yet preaching anything about the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.

But this was before Pentecost! After Pentecost we find that the Gospel is for All People!

That was so obvious until Peter himself seem to have missed the memo. In Acts, Peter never wanted to preach to the Gentiles, Cornelius was a special case and even for that, the Holy Spirit had to give him several visions in order to "convince" him to go to his house. And when Peter reached the house, he had no idea what he was doing there.

Acts 10:28
And he said to them, "You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a man who is a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit him; and yet God has shown me that I should not call any man unholy or unclean. 29 So when I was sent for, I came without raising any objection. May I ask why you sent for me?

How is Peter, a Jew, suppose to think the Gospel is for all, when it was unlawful for a Jew to even visit a Gentile? :)

Although there are different types of dispensationalists, I find it very important that we rightly divide the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15) :)

The word Gospel means Good News ..

Jesus took the punishment ""death penalty"" that we deserved and therefore saved us from the penalty. And yes He rose on the third day..
