That accusation sounds vaguely familiar.

Acts 2:13
Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

Here is most of Acts 2 dealing with this issue. As you can plainly see, these people were not writhing about on the floor or screaming out babblings and or animal noises. They were given actual languages to speak. Likely to spread the Gospel to those that spoke those languages. I DO NOT make fun of them. I am greatly concerned about what type of spirit would have somebody convulse, and squirm around on a floor, or shake their heads so violently you have to wonder if they are going to injure themselves.

Acts 2 New King James Version (NKJV)
Coming of the Holy Spirit
2 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all [a]with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them [b]divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The Crowd’s Response
5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own [c]language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and [d]Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”

13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”

Peter’s Sermon
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only [e]the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
21 And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Shall be saved.’
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— 23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you [f]have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; 24 whom God raised up, having [g]loosed the [h]pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. 25 For David says concerning Him:

‘I foresaw the Lord always before my face,
For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad;
Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
28 You have made known to me the ways of life;
You will make me full of joy in Your presence.

The reason I thought she was from bethel is because they often appear to be drunk or stoned.

The power of God touching one is like sticking your finger in an outlet. Or being shocked by fallen line. I thought I would die if He didn't stop and I asked Him too. Regretted it too but is very powerful.

I have no idea whether I shook or not but the man sitting beside me looked like he was having fits.

Amen!!

I know Elkhart well. Between Elkhart and Mishawaka is a little town called Osceola. The best gage shop (Jus-Rite Engineering) in Indiana is located there. One of the owners back then (Jon Binns), worked with/for my Uncle and Dad at Fisher Body (General Motors) in Marion, Indiana. He retired and found two other people wanting a shot at their own business and they started Jus-Rite Engineering. Since Jon knew my Uncle and Dad (worked for them), he let me do my apprenticeship there :)

Side note: I know Edwardsburg and several cities in Michigan since they had businesses that were Jus-Rite Engineering customers :)
I have many friends there. Was the best time of my life. The Jesus Movement, not a drug scene but an awakening, and the Charismatic movement of the Catholic Church. I went to Christ the King Church for the charismatic meetings. First time I thought I heard angel wings fluttering as they sang in the Spirit.

Talk about joy! No laughter then. Came later. I was spoiled forever and denominations without the move of Holy Spirit....never went again.

Your'e missing the point of the text.

They received the ability to speak different LANGUAGES. Some that spoke these different languages understood them. It doesn't say anything about maniacal laughter, and CERTAINLY NOTHING about convulsively thrashing around on the floor, or squirming and shaking violently. Where else in Scripture do we see this kind of behavior? Not too good where we see it.

MOST importantly, those that thought they were drunk not only made fun of them, but proceeded to persecute them up to death.

NOBODY that is pointing out this behavior is suggesting persecuting these people. On the contrary, I feel sad, and hope they get out of these places.

Can you please show me in Scripture where it says the Holy Spirit touching someone is comparable to sticking your finger in an outlet?

No. They appear to be available all over YouTube. I just saw 3 or 4 of these Bethel people doing this squirming around stuff.

During a service there, a young man was screaming out as if he was on fire. Bill Johnson got so concerned he had security come over, and then the video ends.

Some will hate a particular ex-charismatic christian, called Derren Brown
He has shown he can recreate a lot of the "healing" ministries, slain in the spirit etc. experiences etc partly through
hypnotic suggestion and partly because some people create the illusion of conditions they do not have.

I saw a lecture on what hypnotism is and it is remarkably simple. If you create a shock experience is some, they
are open then to hypnotic suggestion. If in a meeting of thousands you self select the most suggestible, you
can get them to reenact almost anything. The real issue to oppose this is real documented healings showing
people with conditions before and after such encounters. Time and again, when actual documentation and proof
is looked for, it is missing. God heals, but not by this means. This is just manipulation and a show.

We have had healing meetings all over the place, and still most are false. Why should the people of God support
that which is plainly exploiting people and manipulation of what people want not what is real or the Lord provides?
I remember you saying you have charismatic and Pentecostal friends. Do they know how you feel?

That was probably a deliverance. One can tell the difference. I actually believe barking and animal noises may be manifestions of demons too.

Well we don't have to guess. Scripture tells us it is the ability to speak other languages.

Where does it say it is shocking or burns the person receiving it?

Yes they do. I have a friend who spoke in our church in Portuguese. He does not speak in tongues.
And someone translated his prayer word for word without realising it. This happened 3 different times.

I speak in tongues. I believe in prophecy and healing. But I also know many name it claim it believers who
are just straining in the wind.

It is why theology and what people teach as well as experiences are critical to our walk.
God is a God of righteousness and action, purity and truth. Deny this you deny God.

well they certainly are not the Holy Spirit and I'm glad to see you say so

a church I once attended (thousands of miles from where I now live) had 2 worships teams and they would alternate...I was on one in which the Pastor's wife was also participating

she would wreck the service and worship by starting to bob up and down like some crazy mechanical creation...from the waist and over...up and down...up and down

there was also another woman on the team who was emotionally unbalanced and she would carry on from time to time...once these 2 got into a fight at practice and I tried to get them to calm down...they both turned on me

I should have just let them have at each other....maybe one or both would have been kicked off the team and that would have been a good thing...

demons manifest regularly in church where the gifts of the Holy Spirit are in practice and it seems few people know how to deal with them. I made a mistake and I learned from it.

I'll add the Pastor suffered in that home with that woman. they went for counselling and what not, to no avail. He was actually a very godly man saddled with a wife that needed to be set free...but so many Christians think demons cannot bother a saved person

and congratulations on your new car! :)

The truth is this: Those who, for whatever reason, choose to hold their experience up above scripture cannot be reasoned with, because they're so hungry for evidence they can see they don't realize by faith that God is with them.

When I posted these scriptures below, you said this:
"That’s not Church doctrine, but to the disciples to show the Jews signs."
If you claim that these "greater works" have already happened,
please tell us who did them and when. Thanks.

John 14:12
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Matthew 10:8
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
The Jewish Apostles performed miracles to prove their message to the Jews. Can you post Scripture where these signs went out to the Gentiles with no Jew involvement?
