Could someone answer these verses?

Especially

Matthew 5:13
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. "

This implies that it WAS salty, but then became tasteless. How do we explain that?[/QUOTE]

The sermon on the Mount was preached to the Jews and the Nation. The Jews had the Scriptures, and were supposed to be the salt and light to the Gentile world. They failed in that mission and most of them, the Nation, and Jerusalem were LITERALLY trampled under foot by men some 40 yrs later.

We need to be diligent to hear Him, so that we follow Him, and not become lost.

one is not saved by following Him, one is saved by believing in Him ( mental activity ), then BECAUSE one believes , one follows.

Those who hear Him and follow for awhile, run the risk of becoming lost.

And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. What is THE END OF OUR FAITH??
Salvation....you agree in your first paragraph.
At the END of our faith...we receive salvation.
Because we can become lost again before we die.
It does say end of our faith is salvation, yes.

But what about the verses that speak of salvation in a PAST TENSE? How can it only be at the end of our faith when its also a past event??

I would like to know WHY I am not allowed to PM????? Others have sent ME private messages without paying a dime!

Now that @GodsGrace101 has officially left the building, much like Elvis did in his time, PM is the only option to communicate!

* found MY lost sheep.

not I had a sheep to wonder off, the minute it left the area, it ceased being mine, then was mine again when I found it.

MY lost sheep. as long as the sheep recognized the Shepard as THEIR Shepard, then the sheep was still part of the flock.

believing ( mental activity ) gains salvation. following is the activity that follows salvation by belief. ( mental activity ).

Were you able to PM before today? If a person sends you one, you can respond back. But I dunno why you're not able to initiate a PM..

I've never been able to do so! It says I have to contribute a fee.

Someone explained to me that only SENIOR members are allowed to PM for free. But many brethren have PM'd me here and I have been able to respond back to them!

The part in red is not entirely true. Senior members were grandfathered in when we came to the new site. BUT I've had new members PM me right off. One was a scammer.

Other newer members, such as Gracie14 and Becc, are able to PM myself and others without be prompted to donate.. So I think it's different for everyone. Some new members can do PM, while other new members cannot.

Paul explains -

For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. Romans 8:24-25

  • we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope;

Paul using the language of faith is describing the process of salvation.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

So because we have faith for salvation, we have the substance of the salvation we are hoping for.

If you have faith for something, then by definition, you don’t have the thing you are hoping yet.

That’s why Paul says we “wait for it” with perseverance.

The enemy wants to get your faith, and remove it, but he can’t.

He has to get you to do that.

The enemy uses persecution, to get you to renounce Jesus Christ as Lord.

Here’s the context.

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:6-9

Confessing Jesus as Lord is how we are saved by faith.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10

with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Confessing Jesus as Lord, is how we obey the Gospel command to repent.

saying the same thing over and over does not make it true.

believe means mental activity . I am not going to bother posting the greek word and the definition of it.

words have meanings. you need to accept them.

you have no authority over language.

I am now leaving this thread.

It's of no use and for those reading along, they'll have to pray and learn to understand the bible.

@TruthTalk is asked questions which he does not answer, because he cannot, and posts images of watches instead.
He tells me to "shut up". I answer that he should tell his wife to shut up and not ME. He replies that the verse he posted was speaking of a WOMAN and not a WIFE. So I guess HIS wife must be a man.
Again...showing no understanding of plain conversation.

@dcontroversal insists he posts scripture when it is plain to all who care to have eyes that he does not.
A disagreeing member is a liar and is dishonest.
Again...showing no understanding of biblical language or plain English.

@UnderGrace is very good at making remarks but also does not answer a serious question, as in my post no. 83,487.
Again....shows no understanding of the bible.

@blue_ladybug and @Budman have clearly stated that it is not necessary to obey God and Budman has said that he could sin all he wants to because all it takes to be saved is to "believe" in Jesus -- whatever that means to him.
Again...shows no understanding of the bible.

@mailmandan posts scripture and has answers but he loves his Greek and can't seem to understand simple English. As if only those who know Greek could know what God desires from them.
Again....no understanding of the bible.

So, I DO believe it's time to leave.
I leave posting the following:
A non-believer, BTW, is anyone who does not believe what Jesus taught.

2 Corinthians 6:14
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
(those who obey God are unequally yoked with those who do not)

Mark 2:17
And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
(Sounds like Jesus desires us to be righteous...and yet those here say it is as filthy rags)

1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

John 7:16-18
So Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. If anyone's will is to do God's will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority. The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.

2 Thessalonians 3:6
Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us.

Romans 16:17
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.

Romans 13:4-5
4for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.
5Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.

1 Corinthians 5:9-11
9I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; 10I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world.11But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one.

1 Peter 3:8
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.

Jude1:24
To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy...:)

Go in peace Fran and know this, it is God who can save our soul who can keep us saved and; "present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy." Jude1:24

UP NORTH, they use ROCK SALT, up north to melt ice on the sidewalk with that salt. Pop one into you mouth. Don't worry, you will spit it out quick enough. TASTES SALTY DOESN'T IT. Sprinkle a little out on the side walk when it is going to rain for a couple days, the salt will not be much smaller, so pop one of those small melted pieces in to your mouth, and you will notice that it tastes less salty than before. So you will KNOW that salt loses it's flavor with it has been around in the weather for awhile.

NOW, SALT, was Used to keep Meat from Spoiling, and it is only good if it is fresh SALT.
If the MEAT represent our Lives and SIN represents that which spoils our MEAT, it will not TAKE LONG before our Lives will STINK when we stay away from the BIBLE (SALT).

pisteuo- greek word for believe- meaning - " to think to be true, to be persuaded of, place confidence in, to entrust a thing to one.

all these point to a mental activity, just as I say.

you say something else.

if you have no source, then you are just denying truth that you do not like.

WOW, Thank you, Thank you :):):) for including below among the people who so fearlessly preach the true gospel clearly outlined in scripture.

Oh here are the scripture......

Ephesians 2:8 We are saved by grace through faith NOT OF WORKS

John 3:16 - Whoever believes on Jesus should have eternal life.

Romans 1:16 - The gospel is God's power to save all who believe.

Romans 5:1,2 - By faith we are justified and have access to grace.

Ephesians 2:8 - By grace are you saved through faith.

Galatians 2:16 - Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Romans 4:5 - But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

and btw.......

The BELIEVER is defined in scripture as REDEEMED/REGENERGATED/RIGHTEOUS/JUSTIFIED/POSITIONALLY SANCTIFIED.......... because the person has stopped working and has BELIEVED UPON Jesus as a personal Saviour (paying the debt in full) thereby becoming an adopted son or daughter forever.

Amen and Amen

Salt was mixed with gypsum to repair roofs back then, and roofs were a room for the people to live, so they trampled the salt under foot.

When the salt was mixed it lost its saltiness and became bitter and hardened

So perhaps a warning to not become hardened.

I guess you're not divine since your forgiving leaves much to be desired.
I refer to your signature line.

I tire of this thread and the dishonesty shown by most here.

Here's what you said in post no. 83,488:

It does not matter on iota what "most churches" believe. The only "matter" is what the Word of God has to say. The bible should be worshiped and not a "church." The bible tells us how to be saved, how to live, how to please God, why we were brought to life, why we matter as humans and so very much more. There will be no denominations in heaven.

I don't worship the bible...
I worship Jesus, who is Lord.

Luke 6:46 JESUS SAID
"Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?"

I do hope you know that Lord means Master.

In Mathew 5:3-10 Jesus tells us how we should behave:

Here are verses for you:
Matthew 5:5
Matthew 5:7
Matthew 5:8
Matthew 5:9

I tire as well of people who take a post and refer or take out of context a couple of words to suit their own agenda.

I hope you know what God's Word says about bearing false witness, slandering others, being judgmental, arrogant, and speaking as though others are beneath you in their faith life.
