Example:

Under the law it was eye for eye...during the ministry of the Lord, it was turn the other cheek. Through Paul, the Lord says if it’s possible. The Lord gives room for self defense in an evil world.
Just like tithing, turning the other cheek, and Sabbath, Jesus came to bring better understanding of what He wants and forgiveness for our inability to be established and perfect.

The law is fulfilled with Love

So when Jesus addresses the Jews, He’s not talking to the Gentile dogs.

Interesting, the WORD of God claims something many are not aware of.

1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Timothy claims Yeshua (God manifested in the flesh) preached unto the Gentiles.

Quite the contrast from most preachers who believe Jesus was here only for the Jews, even though He died for everyone.

Not better understanding, but a new way.

Do you not think God always wanted us to always Love as we are called, to take time to honor Him, to give cheerfully and on and on. Are you saying that what is important to Gentiles was not to Jews as far as God is concerned?

Tithing under the law was a requirement. Giving under the NT is not required.

Obeying the law and obeying the truth of The cross.
Why does He say here...

"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
John 14:15 NASB

I believe He always wanted our surrender and Love.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Deuteronomy 6:5 NASB

I don't think God dealt differently. It has always been about faith and still is.

even the sacrifice of animals required faith to believe your sins were forgiven...and yet scripture says the blood of bulls and goats could never remove sin

you could say, I think, that the OT is a physical picture of spiritual truths revealed in the new...however, even those who broke the law for the right reason were not condemned.

people love to use the law as some sort of tool for dismissing everything else the OT reveals...(I don't mean you personally here)

there are folks on this forum who think the words of Christ do not apply to us at all...some time back, someone was teaching here that the Lord's prayer is not for us to learn from and dismissing much of what Jesus taught

that is the end result of mishandling the word
We definitely agree on this, Sister.

Reading some of this is cracking me up how a single hair is being split 100 different ways.

It's like saying, we are under Grace so the Law and Commandments don't mean crap.

But...................................................
Do you really believe that the first Commandment "HAVE no other gods before ME" can be broken because we live under Grace?

I sure don't!!

I believe the moment you put another god before God, there is no Grace for you, because you are now a backslider!!

The truth the Lord gave Adam is not the same truth He gave Noah. The truth He gave Abraham is not the same truth He gave Noah nor later to Israel through Moses, and so on. The truth that was given to the disciples is not the same given after the cross. Even through the book of Acts, truth was developing. The truth the Lord gave Paul is not the same truth given in revelation.
I agree His methods change, as it was essential to mans understanding or lack there of, but His truth remains a constant.

God’s grace has always been key, but how His grace is applied differs.

I agree, but i think you can also tell by their gospel. Paul mad the warning when he stood against the legalistic jews who tried to add works to grace, while i agree, can not judge a person, we are told to stand firm against certain doctrines.

This is where it gets tough, how do we do this in a way which pleases christ?
True, so so so true. How do we? It is a tough one. I guess that we know when to walk away, maybe? Delivering the truth with Love is a part of the truth.

Really? God’s grace runs out? If works is required, then it is no more of grace. If it’s grace, then no more works.

Who is saying otherwise?

Just because someone says their faith is in the grace of God does not mean they think it is ok to break any command, it just means they acknowledge they have sinned and have fallen short, and continue to do so, and apart, from Grace they would have no hope?

Many forget that Jesus Himself was the lawgiver. It was always Jesus interacting with Israel and the patriarchs.

1 Cor. 10:4 "And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ."

Christ also does not change (Heb.13:8). The OT was Jesus instructing a nation on how to justly carryout governing the people. It had to make allowances for families of murdered victims need for vengeance. Plus very stern restitution policies to serve the cause of justice.

That said, there was still a deeper understanding of how to apply God's instructions and forgiveness and mercy was always a present factor. Caring for the poor and needy was also built into the law. We can govern under strict rules but still forestall vengeance and payback from thieves. Turning the other cheek is not about self defense, it is about resisting an offer to a duel. Self and pride is always involved when we demand satisfaction from others.

God was always approachable but if we need the law and strictness to cover our actions with Him, we will never get to really know Him.

Actually, turning the other cheek is in reaction to something another has done unto us. It was in comparison to an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

The context is within the passage. Let’s stay there. There were some teaching the truth of a resurrection, but that the resurrection had already passed overthrowing the faith of some. By rightly dividing, we understand this truth has not occurred but is future. There was a resurrection of the OT saints, but that truth is not for Christ’s body.

you totally missed what 'rightly dividing' actually means and you continue on with a very bad understanding

most are not persuaded with what you try to teach
