He's already alienated his wife. Intimacy is a big part of marriage, he'd rather be intimate with pornography.
Is the Women’s group opening soon?

It does not make sense intuitively that a man would get revved up through porn and not want sex with a real woman.

I read, though, that some men het addicted to porn, getting a dopamine high from watching and then masturbating and they get hooked on it.

You could get some other people ivolved,. If ge goes to church you coukd ask one if the elders for help

The Old Testament commanded that every so many years the Torah be read publically toall the people. Men, women, childrenn, and infants were to be gathered. Ezra read the Torah.

In mixed company he read laws about circumcision and menstruation, and laws against adultery, sex between men, sex with animals, sex with a menstrating woman, sex between close relatives.

Some of our Evangelical mores about sex are more Victorian than they are biblical.

In some cases a woman can benefit from hearing a man's teaching on sex. God used Moses to give commands related to sex to Israel, including thise related to women. Paul wrote against fornication, a sexual topic. The writings of both are to be read in mixed company.

This is a sin issue. The man needs help. It is not just a matter of her needing comfort from women.

Men masturbate because they lack intimacy, so the masturbation is a short term quick fix.

When was the last time you had a romantic evening?

When was the last time you had a in depth conversation with him about his life?

When was the last time you did something nice for him?

Have you considered learning about his love language?

Are you engaged and/or interested in what he is interested in?

Is there something that happened in the past that might have triggered mistrust or disgust with you?
This looks a bit like blame shifting. He might be tempted to look at porn partly due to a lack of intimacy in marriage, but there are other factors like a decision to look with lust, sex drive etc. Lack of emtional intimacy might not be ine of tge reasons. He could have gotten himself addicted to the dopamine rush before he met her by choosing to engage in sinful behavior. Moon lit walks and date night is probably not going to set him free.

Sure it does make sense. Watching porn, reacting to it and having an orgasm creates an addiction to that behavior, wiring the brain to seek it more and more. After a while, what used to be really enticing becomes more and more normal, and then into the ordinary and mundane. Requiring a more severe form of porn, which eventually will also become less and less enticing. A "normal" sexual relation with a partner becomes even less exciting because it can in no way compete with the titillation the porn provides.

That makes sense when you learn how it works (reads about it for example, or worse, experiences it). What I mean by not being intuitive is that if a man revs himself up looking at pictures of naked women, you'd think he'd want sex with a woman.

What I mean is men might have some input on how to deal with a man being addicted to porn and overcoming it that women might not be able to give.
Thanks for the clarification. I agree with you 100%. I think that same-gender outlooks are very helpful and insightful, but having said that, the point of view from the opposite gender can provide insight that we might not have.

Under this new format for this site there isn't any. There used to be a Women's Forum but that is no more. You may receive more responses by creating your own thread rather than posting it in a dead thread from 4 years ago concerning sexual problems in someone's marriage.

The reason for the OP is still with us somewhere and for some couple.
