More or less.

But even as a gentile, when you first sought Righteousness, what did you look towards as the standard? The law, right?

I think it is the natural, carnal thing to do.
I was raised in a Christian home. I was taught right and wrong before I could read.
And I remember my conscience informing me at a young age.
Do you still believe the law is the standard?

Nope. Why? You interrupted this thread to express your opinion about how someone was posting. Personally I don't see anything wrong with that. Then another poster interrupted this thread to express how they felt about something else unrelated to the OP. I don't see anything wrong with that either. But you got on them about that with no consideration of the fact that you had just interrupted the thread yourself.
See?
If you were really concerned about thread interruption, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
See?

see, here is the difference - you and the other judeaizers say that we have to keep the letter of the Law, be we Christians understand that we are to fulfill the righteous intent of the Law.

this is done by manifesting the fruits of the Sprit.

not' let's see, what is not listed as a fruit of the Sprit.... oh, keeping the jewish Sabbath, something you wrongly say Christ followers have to do.
That's good.
Also, there is a list of sins in the passage just before the Fruit of the Spirit.
Sabbath-breaking is not on the list. However, "hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions" is on the list.
This could be the very definition of Sabbatarianism.

Titus 1:10
For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.

Galatians 4:17
Those people are zealous to win you over, but for no good. What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may have zeal for them.

if, you do not know what Hebrew roots movement is, look it up. lightbearer, studyman, and a few others are part of it.
they will deny it, but if you look at what it teaches, then look at what they say, you will see a strong parallel.

Teaching salvation by "grace plus law, faith plus works" and trying to sugar coat it by saying that it's "through the Spirit" is certainly a "different" gospel. (Galatians 1:6-9) We are not fooled by SDA propaganda. :cautious:

Romans 10:5 - For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, "The man who does those things shall live by them." 6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' " (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, " 'Who will descend into the abyss?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."

The life of discipleship flows out of the new command, to love one another as He loved us (John 13:34), which Paul refers to as the "law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). Love (and not Sabbath keeping) fulfills the law (Romans 13:8-10). Out of this single command comes other commands, including references for the moral aspect of 9 of the 10 commandments which are reiterated in the New Testament, yet the command to keep the Sabbath day is not binding on Christians in the New Testament.

1. You shall have no other gods before Me. - Acts 14:15
2. You shall make no idols. - 1 John 5:21
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. - James 5:12
4. Keep the Sabbath day holy. - Not binding on the Church - Colossians 2:16-17
5. Honor your father and your mother. - Ephesians 6:1-2
6. You shall not murder. - Romans 13:9-10; 1 John 3:15
7. You shall not commit adultery. - Romans 13:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
8. You shall not steal. - Romans 13:9-10; Ephesians 4:28
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. - Romans 13:9-10; Colossians 3:9-10
10. You shall not covet. - Romans 13:9-10; Ephesians 5:3

That's what I call Sabbatarianism. Is there a significant difference?
I should say Saturday (seventh day) Sabbatarianism, to be more specific.
I am already very familiar with SDAs and COG (Armstrongism).
Are there related denominations to Hebrew Roots?
Readers should informed about these dangerous groups.
They are sheep stealers. They come to places like this to "steal sheep".

I am not you are the one that were Censoring the gentleman for interrupting the thread not me
Where are your morals and sense of justice?
Don't you believe in standing up for what is right?
Or only defending your Sabbatarian buddies. Regardless of their bad behavior.
I counted five or six instances of clear abuse. You call it "Censoring".
And then you call the abuser a "gentleman". ???
Sounds like thuggery. (See?) Gangster talk.

I do not think they are major differences, they are all different heads of the same snake- salvation by law keeping. total lie and deception.

faith and trust in Christ is the only way into the Kingdom.

No. The law is an impossible standard for those that can hear what it says.

The standard of Righteousness is faith in Christ and fruit of the Spirit.

Neither do I. Christ is in the Heart and mouth. The Word is in the Heart and mouth. You Can't have one without the other but they are not the Same. The Word is Part of Christ but Christ is not part of the Word. The Word mentioned by Paul in Romans 10:6-8 is a paraphrase of Deut 30:11-14 and is in reference to the Book of the Law. This is seen in Deut. 30:10 by keeping everything in context. Verse 10 says, "the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law". By Paul Paraphrasing Deut. 30:11-14 he through GOD is drawing a parallel between what is stated in Deut. 30:10-14 and what He is talking about in Romans. We are saved by the Faith. Christ; the Word in our hearts and mouths; this is the faith in which we speak

For God It was never about doing the written law. His intent in us has always been the Faith that worketh love through the heart through HIS Spirit; who we are in and through HIM. The following text show the connection between the Old Testament and New. The verses in Romans 10:6-8; Deut. 30:11-14 ; Hebrews 8:10,11; Jeremiah 31:33 are all speaking of GOD's gift of enabling us through HIS Spirit to be as HE would have us be. Please notice that this gift which is the Good News; the Gospel was availed to us from the beginning of Moses ministry if not even from the time of the fall in Eden. Romans paraphrasing the text found in Deut. Prove this.

That is right. We either live through HIS Spirit; true faith; a changed heart and mind through CHRIST or we are under the curse as we try to do it ourselves.

It is the ministration not what was written but how it was ministered that is ministration of death. Outward observance is futile; it can't be done. It must come from the heart through HIS Spirit. And from the heart through HIS Spirit is how we are to be ministering the New Ministration.

Would you like to actually address the points of the post to which you responded to.
No where in the post to which you responded to says we have to fulfill (keep) the letter of the Law.
It is GOD that works in us both to will and do HIS good pleasure.

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a Sabbath keeping to the people of God.
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest (the Gospel), he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

For he that has entered into his rest; the Gospel has ceased from his own works as GOD did from HIS.

As GOD did from HIS is a direct comparison. GOD rested from physical labor on day seven which is the Sabbath. So we who have entered into the Gospel also rest from our physical labor on day seven which is the Sabbath.

well, if you go back to chapter 3, we are told not to miss out on the rest of Christ, as the Hebrews coming out of Egypt did because of unbelief.

so, no, this is not a literal command to keep the jewish Sabbath, it is warning not to miss out on the rest of salvation by unbelief, as Israel would not enter the Promised Land because of unbelief.

Well said gb9! (y)

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a Sabbath keeping to the people of God.
Hebrews 4:9 - So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. (NASB) Notice that the Greek word "sabbatismos" is used no where else in the Bible! Amazing that SDA's would suggest that this is the word for "keeping the weekly Sabbath" when it is never used anywhere else, in spite of the many references to Jews keeping the weekly Sabbath in the New Testament!

W. E. Vine, Greek Dictionary proves the Sabbatarian argument wrong:

KATAPAUSIS (2663), in classical Greek, denotes a causing to cease or putting to rest; in the N.T., rest, repose; it is used (a) of God's rest, Acts 7:49; Heb. 3:11, 18; 4:1, 3 (twice), R.V. (1st part), "that rest" (the A.V., "rest," is ambiguous), 5, 11; (b) in a general statement, applicable to God and man, 4:10.

SABBATISMOS (4520), a Sabbath-keeping, is used in Heb. 4:9, R.V., "a Sabbath rest," A.V. marg., "a keeping of a Sabbath" (akin to sabbatizoµ, to keep the Sabbath, used, e.g., in Ex. 16:30, not in the N.T.); here the Sabbath-keeping is the perpetual Sabbath rest to be enjoyed uninterruptedly by believers in their fellowship with the Father and the Son, in contrast to the weekly Sabbath under the Law. Because this Sabbath rest is the rest of God Himself, its full fruition is yet future, though believers now enter into it.

Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest (the Gospel), he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
You "added" the words (the Gospel) in Hebrews 4:10 to support your perverted Sabbath gospel. :cautious:

For he that has entered into his rest; the Gospel has ceased from his own works as GOD did from HIS.
SDA's teach a "different" gospel. Namely, salvation by "grace plus law, faith plus works." (Galatians 1:6-9)

As GOD did from HIS is a direct comparison. GOD rested from physical labor on day seven which is the Sabbath. So we who have entered into the Gospel also rest from our physical labor on day seven which is the Sabbath.
Hebrews 4:10 says the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. That person has entered in God’s rest through Jesus "rests from his own work" (in contrast of trying to keep the Law) as God ceased or rested from His works in the seventh day of Creation. God's ultimate, true rest did not come through Joshua or Moses, but through Jesus Christ. Joshua led Israel into the promised land, which was merely the earthly rest which was but a shadow of what was involved in the heavenly rest. The rest in Christ that God offers is spiritual and is superior to that which Joshua obtained. Israel's earthly rest was filled with conflict and attacks from their enemies and the daily cycle of work. The "sabbatismos" rest enjoyed uninterruptedly by believers in their fellowship with the Father and the Son, in contrast to the weekly Sabbath under the Law, is found only in Christ and not Law keeping.

Although for centuries the Jews had found their physical rest in a day, the New Covenant takes the focus off the shadows of the Old Testament signs and rituals and reveals their spiritual substance -- the fulfillment/reality—in the person of Jesus Christ. (Colossians 2:16-17) Christians find complete Sabbath "sabbatismos" rest in Christ's finished work on the cross. The New Testament Sabbath rest is entered into by ceasing from one’s "works" of trying to earn salvation though keeping the Law. Paul explains that the Jewish holy days, including the weekly Sabbath, were merely a “shadow” which pointed to Christ; therefore, Christians should not feel obligated to observe them once the “reality” has come (Colossians 2.16-17). Because Jesus and the New Testament writers never reiterate the Sabbath command as they do the moral principles contained in the other 9 commandments, Christians are not obligated to observe a literal weekly Sabbath day.

I was going to point out the difference in the greek language, but you went ahead and did it first!!

good job!

and, we know the judeaizers will dismiss this, but hopefully it will keep any new or young believers from falling for their lies and deception.

That is the letter of the law and not the Spirit.

A person doesn't enter into the Gospel. A person receives Rest.

As God did from His IS a direct comparison. God didn't start His Work back up on day eight. Then Rest again on day 14.

Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

Working at the law is not rest.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

"if you go back to chapter 3, we are told not to miss out on the rest of Christ, as the Hebrews coming out of Egypt did because of unbelief.
Very good; that is correct. The rest of Christ; the Gospel they did not enter due to unbelief. Stiff necked hardhearted disobedience.

Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Heb 3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
Context is clear; but if that is not enough the very word translated Unbelief in chapter 3 and 4 of Hebrews also holds true to this.

It was not that they did not believe. They believed because GOD was physically manifesting HIMSELF to them continuously coming out of Egypt and through the wilderness for 40 years. As the BDAG puts forth in their Lexicon It was an "unwillingness to commit oneself to another or respond positively to the other’s words or actions" This is the, "lack of belief, unbelief" to which Hebrews speaks.

However....
so, no, this is not a literal command to keep the jewish Sabbath, it is warning not to miss out on the rest of salvation by unbelief, as Israel would not enter the Promised Land because of unbelief."
Command? In Hebrews 4:9,10 It is not being spoken as a command but as a matter of fact. The command is found is found earlier in the chapter. Here follow along please.

For we which have believed do enter into rest (Katapausis; ceasing down, Christ's rest; the Gospel), as HE said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest (Katapausis; ceasing down,Christ's rest; the Gospel): although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. (GOD’S rest; the Gospel has been available since the creation of the world) For HE spake in a certain place (Mt. Sinai in the giving of the Commandments) of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this again (AGAIN HE SPEAKS), IF they shall enter into my rest (Katapausis; ceasing down, the Gospel).

A few things need being mentioned in from these verses. The REST mentioned is referring to the GOSPEL. This brought to light in verse TWO. The giving (speaking) of The Seventh Day and GOD resting on it. And the Seventh Day being brought up again (HE speaks) IF they shall enter into my rest (Katapausis; ceasing down, the Gospel). And incidentally Two separate things are being mentioned. The Rest in which is the GOSPEL and the forth Commandment; Seventh Day which is the Sabbath. Also if I may verse four is rather specific with it's use of definite articles in the Greek.

Here listen to a more direct translation.

Heb 4:4 ....And rested the GOD in the day; the seventh from all the works of HIM.

It is IN THE day; the seventh in which HE spoke about on Mt Sinia. And in that day; the seventh HE rested from all HIS works.

Couple that with the fact Heb 4:5 says And in this again (HE SPEAKS), If they shall enter into my rest. We have repeating of the forth commandment

You glossed right over the definition of the word. Vines as do most cites the definition first. He cites, "a Sabbath-keeping" then goes on to cite the RV's translation, "a Sabbath rest" and then proceeds to show what they have in their marginal notes, "a keeping of a Sabbath". He does this to prove that the difinition that he cited is close to what the translators of the RV thought of the word. So what you have is the definition, references and then commentary.
The commentary is way off. Nothing and I mean nothing in the grammar of the Greek or context even suggests a future rest. Remaineth is present tense, indicative mood; a fact.

Ceases from his own works a s GOD did from HIS in verse 10 is in the Aorist tense.
Most often the Aorist tense is translated past tense by translators. It is not that simple though. Here is an excerpt from the Koine Greek Textbook Vol. 1-4 Greg by Allen Walker.

"The events described by the aorist tense are classified into a number of categories by grammarians. The most common of these include a view of the action as having begun from a certain point ("inceptive aorist"), or having ended at a certain point ("cumulative aorist"), or merely existing at a certain point ("punctiliar aorist"). The categorization of other cases can be found in Greek reference grammars.

The English reader need not concern himself with most of these finer points concerning the aorist tense, since in most cases they cannot be rendered accurately in English translation, being fine points of Greek exegesis only. The common practice of rendering an aorist by a simple English past tense should suffice in most cases."

You "added" the words (the Gospel) in Hebrews 4:10
It is called commentary. Chapter four's Context supports it. Two rests are being mentioned in Hebrews Four. Kataplausis; Christ's rest which is the Gospel. This rest is defined in verse two.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
(Heb 4:2 KJV)

And the second as you know is Sabbatismos; a Sabbath keeping.

So what we have is....
There remaineth therefore a Sabbath keeping to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest (Christ's rest; the Gospel), he also (in addition to that) hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
(Heb 4:9-10)
The only record we have of GOD ceasing from HIS own work is upon completing Creation. God rested from work on the day, the seventh which HE later called the Sabbath. So we who have entered into Christ's Rest; the Gospel cease from our own works as GOD did from HIS on the Day, the Seventh which is the Sabbath.

I was raised in a Christian home. I was taught right and wrong before I could read.
And I remember my conscience informing me at a young age.
Do you still believe the law is the standard?
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

For when the Gentiles, which have not the law (the oracles;written Law), do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another, (Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them)

. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ (the Word; the law written in our hearts) down from above, Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ (the Word; the law written in our hearts) again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word (Christ; and through Him the Law written in our hearts; His commandments in our minds) is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; For Christ (the Word; His law in the heart and mouth) is the end of the (written) law for righteousness to every one that believeth. For the just shall live by faith; Christ; the Word in our hearts and mouths.
(Rom 1:17-20; 2:14-15 10:4-8 )

Which is what exactly, in your opinion?
Have you not heard?
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; For we are dead nevertheless we live yet not us but CHRIST LIVETH IN US and the life we NOW live is by the FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD. For He that has been baptized (immersed) into Christ hath put on Christ.; The Temple of GOD. And it is HE that works in us both to will and do HIS good pleasure. Not but Christ.
(Act 17:28)
