Latin was a world language used for science, theology and similar disciplines in Europe for 1800 years. its still used in international and interdenominational theology. Also, many today's languages use Latin names for books in the Bible (like German, Czech, Dutch).
Pardon me if I remain skeptical . . .

Where is 'eternal' in your response. Israel lost the land after the time the verses you quoted . . . God promised Israel through Moses that they would be gathered from the nations.

Where do you see 'the land' in Galatians 3:16, 29? hmmm?
They have been gathered from the nations. For example after the babylonian captivity. (There are other times too..)

That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

People understood that promises get gradually bigger and bigger in the Bible. Such is the case with duration of life for example, starting from Isaiah 65:17-20, to Rev 21:1-3 where its eternal.

The vast majority of people who call themselves Christians believe that Jesus could come any second, any minute, any hour, any day, any week, any month. I disagree and here is why.

YOU are not ready. And when I say YOU I don't mean you as an individual, I mean you as part of the universal church from which emerges the Bride of Christ.

What do we see when we look at the church today?

First we see division. Denominations are in competition with each other based on doctrines. They fail to unite to influence towns and cities and states and countries with the gospel. Denominations and doctrinal disagreements are Satan's greatest tool to keep the church divided.

Next we see sin. Yes, the church is full of the same sins found in the world. No wonder the world mocks the church when it is full of the same sins it judges the world for committing.

Another big problem is that people who think of themselves as saints are living the same way as sinners. It's every man for themself and keeping up with the Jonses. "Christian" life is all about trading up to a newer and better and more expensive home or car or cell phone or LED TV or etc. It certainly isn't about sharing all things and not seeking possessions and the pleasures they bring.

Finally the church is utterly failing to realize its earthly responsibility to show the world what life in and with God is all about. For God so loved the world that He sent his Son, Jesus, to save it. This is the ultimate task of Jesus, i.e. to save this world, and the plan is to do this using the church.

Jesus is not coming back to marry a dirty slut lying in a gutter cowering in fear of persecution and begging to be rescued. He is returning to marry a glorious Bride who is standing tall wearing dazzling robes of righteousness which represent good works. She is an overcomer and a conqueror. She is without spot (sinless) and without wrinkle. This word wrinkle comes from a Greek verb meaning to rescue and with the prefix "a" means not needing to be rescued. Wrinkle is a terrible translation.

I believe it will be several years before Jesus can turn His church around and get it headed in the right direction. This will be the reason for the big worldwide economic collapse that's coming. He has to shake up the world and especially those who claim to follow Him.

However, not all believers fall under that category. The true bride is abiding in God's word, putting it into practice and being led by the Spirit and being transformed into the image of Christ. The Lord knows those who belongs to Him and it is these who will be gathered at His appearing, while the others that you mentioned will be left here. The Lord will be coming to gather his church and His appearing is and has always been imminent, i.e. can happen at any time. Nothing has changed.

The true believer in Christ is not cowering in fear of persecution and begging to be rescued. I don't know what so-called Christians you hang around with, but the true believer in Christ is always praying to be prepared for persecution and even death in keeping the testimony of Christ and the word of God.

Regarding being rescued, that is exactly what is going to happen. Jesus will come for His church before the first seal is opened which initiates God's wrath:

"They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath."

The reason being, is because it is God's wrath that is coming, not man's or Satan's, but God's! Jesus already suffered God's wrath on behalf of every believer, satisfying it completely and fully. Therefore, God's wrath no longer rests upon the believer in Christ, ergo, the church will not and cannot go through God's wrath, otherwise, the wrath that was poured out on Jesus would have been for nothing.

This *coming* is about the Church. And it is imminent - could happen at any moment. And Christians are exhorted to be ready at all times.

The "one taken" is being compared to those "taken" in the flood. Therefore, the comparison is wicked to wicked.

Luke's version is a little more revealing:

Those of the "one taken" group, will be those wicked who will have made it alive through the time of God's wrath until Christ comes. Then, according to the parable found in Matt.13:24-29, 37-43, at the end of the age, the angels will go throughout the earth and "first" gather the weeds, i.e. the "one taken." The angels will take them to where Jesus descends at Armageddon and they will all be killed by the double-edged sword (word of God) and the birds/vultures that will have been gathered by the angel, will eat their flesh.

Those who will be taken of the "one taken" group are not the righteous, nor does their being taken have anything to do with the gathering of the church. It is the wicked who are in view and will be taken.

I started to say, Oh No! Another misuse of Scripture . . . but I kept reading. You nailed it! Amen! It is the calling unto judgment of the unsaved. Of course, you'll probably not convince the scholars that prefer their covenant theology.

I believe that we are saved by grace through faith and this not of our own doing. It is the gift of God, not by works.

That said, I believe in OSAS "IF" we continue in the faith. We have saved by grace, i.e. God's unmerited favor. Our part is faith, which keeps us plugged into God's grace. On the other side of the coin, if a believer turns back to living according to the flesh, they are no longer having faith. Now I'm not talking about the sins that we commit as believers having the sinful nature, but about those who turn back to willfully living according to the sinful nature. Look at what Paul says regarding this issue:

"Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—[if] you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel."

Paul says it again in Heb.3:14

"We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end the assurance we had at first."

Also, consider the following:

"My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins."

Notice first that James is addressing believers (both men and women). Then he says, if any of those believers should wander from the truth, that while in that wandered state, i.e. willfully living according to the sinful nature, that they will be accumulating a multitude of sins and on their way to death.

We are indeed saved and have the hope of eternal life, but we must continue in faith from beginning to end. If we go back into the world and willfully live according to the sinful nature, then we are on our way to death. Even Paul said this when writing to the Corinthians:

"The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters. Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Paul is warning them that those who live according to the sinful nature as described above, including those who were washed and sanctified, will not inherit the kingdom of God if they continue living that way and die in that state.

So, in conclusion, I believe our eternal life is secure if we continue in faith from beginning to end. Even a finger nail of faith. I know that there will be those who disagree, but we cannot go back to willfully living according to the sinful nature and expect to inherit the kingdom of God. After all, is the world not living that way? And what will be their end because of it? Does receiving Christ give us carte blanche to willfully continue living in the sinful nature?

I agree with your first post, but I believe that there is nothing that a redeemed child of God can do to undo the free gift of eternal life . . . I am sealed with the Holy Spirit until the redemption of the purchased possession -- me!

So do you think Jesus was sent to save the world or destroy it? If you think He was sent to save it is He able to save it? If He can't save then He is a failure and must destroy it?
It says it Revelation somewhere that God is going to melt the earth with a fervent fire. What do you mean by saving it? Are you referring to the inhabitants or the earth itself?

Personally, I believe that 2 Peter 3:10-12 (your reference, if I'm not mistaken) should be understood in light of both chapters of Isaiah 34 and 35 (rather than just looking at a singular verse, 34:4 ).

I believe this passage is referring to the time surrounding His Second Coming to the earth (not at our Rapture).

Our sealing is dependent upon faith, not just period. You can't just go and live in the sinful nature and then expect God to honor that. I posted the scriptures, which I believe speak for them selves.

Consider this: If OSAS no matter how one lives, then why is there so many warnings in the word of God? Why are there any warnings at all? Why would Paul need to chastise the Galatians or any other believer?

Whenever you see a promise, tack onto that "if you continue in faith," because it is not repeated everywhere a promise is made.

I would also suggest looking at the letters to the churches. At the end of each letter Jesus exhorts them to repent with a consequence of not repenting. For example:

"Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God."

For those who are not victorious and do not repent, reverse the promise. Those who are not victorious will not have the right to the tree of life.

"Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death.

For those who are not victorious they will be hurt by the second death

"To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.

To the one who is not victorious, I will not give some of the hidden manna. I will also not give that person a white stone with a new name.

"To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations—that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’ —just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give that one the morning star."

To the one who is not victorious and does not do my will to the end, I will not give authority over the nations and that person will not rule them with an iron scepter, etc.

"The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels."

What would be the point of Jesus having John writing to the churches to warn them if their actions didn't matter?

Faith is the key to salvation and eternal life. Without it, one can call themselves a Christian all they want, but if they have not repented and have gone back into willfully living according to the sinful nature, they ain't goin', to heaven that is. Consider also what Jesus said to His disciples and to all believers regarding escaping the wrath to come:

"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

And how about the following:

"For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."

Jesus gave a parable regarding the above:

The king in the parable is figurative representing God the Father and the servants represent believers. The debt represents our sin against God, which is great in comparison to anything anyone could do against us.

I want to draw your attention to the fact that, the servant who owed the king a whole lot of money (millions) was forgiven. Then that servant went out and found a fellow servant (believer) who owed him a couple of dollars. And his fellow servant begged him to give him time to repay him, but he would not and instead had him thrown into jail until he could pay. Notice that after the king heard that the man that He had forgiven, that he didn't have compassion on his fellow servant to forgive him, then the king withdraws his original forgiveness for the debt that he was originally forgiven for. As Jesus said, "this is how My Heavenly Father will treat each of you, unless you forgive your brother from your hear."

Regarding the case above, where is being sealed in the Holy Spirit now? Well, in this case, that sealing is dependent upon forgiving others for one, which is a result of faith. Forgiveness and eternal life is also dependent upon continuing in faith, from beginning to end.

Our forgiveness, the hope of eternal life and all of the promises, are dependent upon the believer continuing in faith from beginning to end.

I see a clause in I Corinthians that gives me all the faith in eternal security that I need. Our works for Christ will be judged and if any works are burned as wood, hay or stubble the Bible says that that believer shall suffer loss, yet he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.

You are using verses that Christ directed to Israel and assuming that they apply equally to the church. When the 'kingdom of heaven' is used to begin a parable - Jesus is speaking of the Millennium. His heavenly stories with earthly meaning was spoken at a time when Israel had no King, except for the One standing before them. Israel will not have a King until Jesus assumes the throne of David.

Such things as 'enduring to the end shall be saved' is speaking of the Tribulation where unless those days be shortened -- no one will survive.

We must rightly divide the Word of truth.

In the context of the Flood, we can also apply "taken" to Noah and the occupants of the Ark, while the ones "left" would be all who perished in the Flood. They were "left behind" and then "taken" by the Flood waters.

Your interpretation is complex, whereas this is simple given the exhortation to watchful. Furthermore, if this was all about the wicked, we would NOT have this exhortation for the Church right there -- Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. "Your Lord" is only applicable to Christians. And we see this in the following verses, referring to the servants of Christ.

As to the body and the eagles, there are various interpretations, and in the end that is a rather enigmatic statement. Some have suggested that the body is the Church, the Body of Christ, and the eagles are metaphors for Christians who will be taken up to meet the Lord in the air. Christians will be gathered together at the Rapture.

"I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying . . . " (Romans 11:1-2).

He goes on to describe the remnant.

I am not suggesting that all of national Israel will be saved . . . but I am saying that the promises to the Jewish remnant and to the Church of Jesus Christ are different.

Israel is God the Father's espoused bride, as in Hosea.
The Church is the bride of Christ . . . as in Revelation.

You can't make two distinct groups become one group no matter how hard you try.
Rom 11:1 I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3“Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me” a ? 4And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” b5So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.


The verse that you quote talks of "..present time.." and not 2000 years later. That's just one of the many misunderstanding with your doctrine.

Nor do I, and you don't get this from the covenants . . . the covenant is with the seed of Abraham . . . the believing remnant. Their belief does not make them into members of the New Testament church . . . never . . . they are distinct.

You persist upon an error.
Rom 9:6It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 7Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” b 8In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.
