I agree with your first post, but I believe that there is nothing that a redeemed child of God can do to undo the free gift of eternal life . . . I am sealed with the Holy Spirit until the redemption of the purchased possession -- me!
Our sealing is dependent upon faith, not just period. You can't just go and live in the sinful nature and then expect God to honor that. I posted the scriptures, which I believe speak for them selves.
Consider this: If OSAS no matter how one lives, then why is there so many warnings in the word of God? Why are there any warnings at all? Why would Paul need to chastise the Galatians or any other believer?
Whenever you see a promise, tack onto that "if you continue in faith," because it is not repeated everywhere a promise is made.
I would also suggest looking at the letters to the churches. At the end of each letter Jesus exhorts them to repent with a consequence of not repenting. For example:
"Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God."
For those who are not victorious and do not repent, reverse the promise. Those who are not victorious will not have the right to the tree of life.
"Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death.
For those who are not victorious they will be hurt by the second death
"To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.
To the one who is not victorious, I will not give some of the hidden manna. I will also not give that person a white stone with a new name.
"To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations—that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’ —just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give that one the morning star."
To the one who is not victorious and does not do my will to the end, I will not give authority over the nations and that person will not rule them with an iron scepter, etc.
"The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels."
The one who is not victorious, will not be dressed in white and will blot out that persons name from the book of life. I will not acknowledge that persons name before my Father and His angels.
What would be the point of Jesus having John writing to the churches to warn them if their actions didn't matter?
Faith is the key to salvation and eternal life. Without it, one can call themselves a Christian all they want, but if they have not repented and have gone back into willfully living according to the sinful nature, they ain't goin', to heaven that is. Consider also what Jesus said to His disciples and to all believers regarding escaping the wrath to come:
"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
And how about the following:
"For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."
Jesus gave a parable regarding the above:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Because of this, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
24As he began the settlements, a debtor was brought to him owing ten thousand talents.
25Since the man was unable to pay, the master ordered that he be sold to pay his debt, along with his wife and children and everything he owned.
26Then the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Have patience with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’
27His master had compassion on him, forgave his debt, and released him.
28But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe me.’
29So his fellow servant fell down and begged him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you back.’
30But he refused. Instead, he went and had him thrown into prison until he could pay his debt.
31When his fellow servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed, and they went and recounted all of this to their master.
32Then the master summoned him and declared, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave all your debt because you begged me.
33Should you not have had mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had on you?’
34In his anger, his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should repay all that he owed.
35That is how My Heavenly Father will treat each of you, unless you forgive your brother from you heart.
The king in the parable is figurative representing God the Father and the servants represent believers. The debt represents our sin against God, which is great in comparison to anything anyone could do against us.
I want to draw your attention to the fact that, the servant who owed the king a whole lot of money (millions) was forgiven. Then that servant went out and found a fellow servant (believer) who owed him a couple of dollars. And his fellow servant begged him to give him time to repay him, but he would not and instead had him thrown into jail until he could pay. Notice that after the king heard that the man that He had forgiven, that he didn't have compassion on his fellow servant to forgive him, then the king withdraws his original forgiveness for the debt that he was originally forgiven for. As Jesus said, "this is how My Heavenly Father will treat each of you, unless you forgive your brother from your hear."
Regarding the case above, where is being sealed in the Holy Spirit now? Well, in this case, that sealing is dependent upon forgiving others for one, which is a result of faith. Forgiveness and eternal life is also dependent upon continuing in faith, from beginning to end.
Our forgiveness, the hope of eternal life and all of the promises, are dependent upon the believer continuing in faith from beginning to end.
