I think people see the word sin, yet do not know what it means, it means literlaly to fall short or miss the mark.

to do and not do it is sin. Yet two people can do the same thing, one person can do it in sin, the other can do it in the spirit and it is not sin.
The believer shoudl be focused on loving others (the things of the spirit) not focused on self (sin) if they do that, they will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
"Anything we do which misses the mark of perfection is sin."

Not sure if your quote above is correct..IMO...

I think if someone does something KNOWINGLY its wrong is sin..if they DONT know...its a "whoops" and needs correction..theres a difference...we arent held accountable of judged for things we DONT know but what we DO

Like a child who is bout to touch a hot stove unknowingly..you dont discipline cause he doesnt know any better..you "correct"..if he does it AGAINn KNOWS..you discipline...

And to add..it all boils down to the motives of our hearts that often dictate our actions..and God is the only one that can judge someonez heart

I would add that the 'mark' is a perfect bullseye every single time. Not a fraction of an inch off - but purely in the middle. And if one shoots 1,000 arrows at the target, each shot must perfectly sever the arrow that was there previously.

To miss even one by the nth degree results in absolute separation from God and an eternity in hell.

Praise God Jesus is an excellent marksman - and over all these centuries - He hasn't missed the mark even one time. He is that which sacrificed His own self for the likes of me and you . . . and billions upon billions, 'whomsoever will may come.'

It isn't just the bad things we do, it is also the good things we do short of perfection. There are sins of omission and sins of commission.

"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin" (James 4:17).

Not doing right when the opportunity presents itself is just as sinful as pulling out a gun and shooting your neighbor in God's eyes.

Seriously, the unsaved person does not stand a chance at the Great White Throne judgment of God.

The dictionary is a fine instrument in the study of the Bible. Many preachers turn to it rather than the so-called 'original' Greek to suss out the meanings of words. But sometimes it just doesn't go far enough - as in the case of sin.

They do have the same idea OSAS is always used by those who do not believe in the security of the believer and they believe you can lose your eternal salvation. OSAS is always used in a negative view with no bible verse to back up there unbelief. The Eternal Security of the Believer can be supported by scripture.

God bless
OSAS: Once Saved, Always Saved. Do not believe in salvation can be lost through lack of works. That's what 1/2 the quarreling here is about my brothers and sisters! Works are a blessing but have no bearing on salvation. Just like faith other religions' have good works too. Works help many but save for eternity none. Gods Grace made a promise to Abraham. Jesus is the fulfillment of that promise. Faith in Jesus completes the deal Abraham made with Elohim. The is power in Grace, through Jesus, the greatest power is the Holy Spirit. Faith has a placebo effect but faith only gives us access through Jesus to the Holy Spirit. People worldwide believe in medicine, voodoo, witchcraft and a myriad of false beliefs with success. Often because faith stimulates the bodies natural healing process but like it or not, its not the root cause of their healing. That came from God and we are gifted by him to have it. Doctors for centuries have had success with medications they knew were bogus. when Paul questioned the Lord 3x he replied 'My Grace is sufficient for thee'

We need faith, hope and love to live like God intended it's necessary. Beyond life we need faith in Jesus. Faith comes from within, Grace comes from The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Grace was before salvation. Nothing we can do will ever change that. As I see it, it's not debatable. I someone has faith in Jesus works wont save them, they're already saved and it certainly can't hurt them but that belief can hurt others. I never understood why as soon as people get saved churches that preach saved by faith want to give them new rules. "Now that you're saved you've got to do this, that and the other, also quit this that and the other bla, bla, bla! Just teach it is good to do this and bad to do that. we will bear fruit when our time comes. Simple as that. That's all folks.

Yet the bible teach he’s the immanent return of Christ. In fact, they thought christ would return in their day.

As I have said, Post trib is the LEAST scripturally backed end times theory I call it theory because although I am lean pre- I believe we will not knbow ubntil it happens.

Your choice, and as I have said, was raised in an imminent return church and defended it dogmatically until I had to study through the bible 2 times a year in seminary....the bible does not support it...the bible does support a post tribulation pre-wrath ingathering at the 7th trump of Revelation.....I know we agree on much bro....however, no one will ever change my mind. I have spent the better part of the last 32 years pouring over this topic and the imminent return is not found in scripture. Does not change my fellowship with you nor my fondness for your stance on many things ;)

So called??? I study all words from the ORIGINAL "nothing so called about it" The first thing I do in any study is to look up all words in a given text from either the Greek, Hebrew.......verb tense also plays a big part because there are nuances found in the tense that gets lost in the English translation.......just saying

Even the devil 'believes' . . .

"Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble" (James 2:19).
The contrast is between saving faith and a mere belief that God is real....the devils know he is real yet they do not have the saving faith afforded men....there is a vast difference betwix the two......

As well as they know also that there fates are sealed and they are going to end up in a lake of fire. Some demons wondered why Jesus was bothering them as their time had not yet come. So sad that the lost do not know that they are headed to the same fate.

but you did not honor the God who holds in His hand your life and all your ways, therefore He sent the hand that wrote the inscription
(Daniel 5:23-24)

The Lord wrote on these tablets
(Deuteronomy 10:4)
two stone tablets inscribed by the finger of God
(Deuteronomy 9:10)
and you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath He quickened together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross
(Colossians 2:14-15)
apart from the law, sin was dead
(Romans 7:8)
for by the law is the knowledge of sin
(Romans 3:20)
I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake,
and I will not remember your sins!
(Isaiah 43:25)
Yes, You will cast all their sins Into the depths of the sea.
(Micah 7:19)

I don't say that the Greek is never helpful. The case of agape and phileo (as well as eros) are a great case in point. My Greek professor (Greek I and II) told us that the Greek is like watching a TV in color while the English is black and white.

but it's not until the third time that Peter says "Lord, you know all things" -- which is, to know all things, saying Lord, you are omniscient. who is omniscient but God?
only knowing who Jesus is, is someone able to feed His sheep. Peter got on base after the third swing :)

Another interesting truth....Daniel contains a little Chaldean and Jesus speaks in Aramic........to me the difference is like comparing a black and white tv to a High Def Color Tv........the languages brings out the "color" if you will........
