Hello, I joined the conversation late and would like to see this Creed that you guys are talking about. Where can I find it? Can someone post it to me if its short?

I also must say that its a sad state in christianity when there are 3554 pages (which I dont got time to read) of debate about something the Bible clearly states in many places:

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast.
2 Timothy 1:9 He is the one who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not based on our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,
Romans 3:20 For no one is declared righteous before him by the works of the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
Romans 3:28 For we consider that a person is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, his faith is credited as righteousness.
Titus 3:5 he saved us not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,

Etc! Yet the debate is ongoing?
Sadly to many like th epharisees think they know scripture, yet they can not see the scripture condemns them and points to CHRIST. So they will continue to try to earn their salvation, instead of recieving salvation. Which has already been paid in full by the cross.

Hi Lovingothers, and welcome to Christianchat.com. I am willing to converse with you about our mutual faith that we have freely received from God, "by grace through faith we are saved it is a gift of God lest anyone should boast." Epheasans2:8. Yes every true Christians will have many wonderful works for our Savior but our works are part of our daily walk with Jesus and will not merit entrance into Gods kingdom.

I understand the gist of your parable. However, when you say "what do we need "to feel and do" to receive eternal life I think we are not on the same page. Eternal life is a free gift and cannot be merited, Jesus gives His followers Eternal Life." John10:27-30. "I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life."

I see from your profile that you believe our eternal salvation is a "process." I believe that our "sanctification", which is our daily walk and being set apart for the work of the ministry, is a "process", growing in grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ is a life long pursuit. Praise God for the precious blood bought gift of our Savior Jesus Christ.

God bless!

John10:27-30
27)
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28) I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29) My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all;
no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30) I and the Father are one.”

Epheasians2:8
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--

Okay, so to clarify what you are saying: Eternal life is a free gift for all who have faith in him. Those who have faith in Him are those who are sanctified in their daily lives and are set apart in His ministry. If this is correct, the. My question to you is According to your belief how does one become sanctified and set apart? What do you mean by growing in grace?

Also just an add in, I am very uncomfortable with the term “free” gift. I feel strongly that this gift came with a inconceivable price, therefore it is a “paid in full” gift for all by our Savior. I can see that when you use the term “free” maybe you are referring to the cost required by the receiver, but saying that way makes me cringe a little because it can come off as something without much worth. Does that make sense?

Jesus was a real rebel in his day ;)
Unlike James Dean.
Jesus was a rebel with a cause.

Psalms 22:1

The Suffering, Praise, and Posterity of the Messiah
To the Chief Musician. Set to “The Deer of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David.
1 My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?
Why are You so far from helping Me,
And from the words of My groaning?

Matthew 27:46
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

John 19:30
30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

Matthew 27:51
51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,

Hebrews 4:16
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Ephesians 3:11-12
11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

Romans 5:1-2

Faith Triumphs in Trouble
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

A rebel with a cause.

The main parts that some of us objected to is hell was a mistranslation of Sheol which is not hell and Universal Church which does not exist or it's just code for Catholic which most of us do not have faith in. The last thing it is not in the bible, it's a form prayer like now I lay me down to sleep... Which is not a prayer at all it's a chant, made up by men. That's what started all of the hubbub.

Hi Lovingothers, the gift of Eternal Salvation is free to you and I; however God gave us his only beggoten Son to die for us.. Jesus paid the ultimate price to save us from our sins. Jesus said because He lives we shall live also.

Why do you cringe when Jesus said, "greater love hath no man than he lay down his life for another."

Romans6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

"Believe in the Holy Catholic Church"

Ok, now were getting some where I believe in the holy catholic church...meant, I have faith in the righteousness of the RCC, the Pope and the Vatican. Catholic originally meant world wide, since it was the only Christian church accepted by the Roman Empire. It ruled over Europe with an iron fist and killed those who opposed it for over 1500 years.. Not very Christ like!

My understanding was that RCC in the beginning was the universal church.
Not the RCC we have today, but aka NT Church.

Yes but pledging we believe in something we know went off the rails16 or 17 centuries ago is wrong, wrong, wrong. Let your yays be yay and your nays be nay. Pledge nothing besides Jesus is Lord is my philosophy. Chanting is one of the most popular mind numbing techniques used by cults for tens of thousands of years. You can make a tape recorder repeat things it can't possibly understand and though it sounds ridiculous, that's how many churches operate regardless of what they believe in. Mindless repetition does not saave anyone. Saying I believe doesn't make someone believe. It must come from the heart, else it's in-valid chatter like a parakeet.

In Galatians 3:13, Paul clearly states - Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a "curse" (Greek word - katara) for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”

Jesus died on a cross for the sins of every man and woman. The scriptures say that Jesus was perfect. Jesus was sinless. We deserved to die because of our sins. Jesus did not. Therefore, when Jesus willingly died a physical death on a cross in our place – for our sins – He became a “curse” for us "in that sense" in order to satisfy divine justice.

In 2 Corinthians 5:21, we read - For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Again, that is the "sense" in which Jesus became a curse for us. *That is not the same thing as calling Jesus "accursed" (Greek - anathema) in 1 Corinthians 12:3.

In 1 Corinthians 12:3, we read - Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed.. which "accursed" (Greek word - anathema) here would pronounce Jesus to be an impostor, and therefore justly punished with death, which is not the sense of the word "cursed" in Galatians 3:13 so enough with the FALSE ACCUSATIONS! :cautious:

The Lord rebuke you for SLANDER!
How can one so blatently stand against a biblical truth and then pronounce what he pronounced upon those who are right in their stance....he must not be that bright.....it is clear...JESUS BECAME A CURSE FOR US, WAS FORSAKEN, BECAME A SIN OFFERING WHEN He hung on the cross....any RELIGION that denies this biblical tenant is not of GOD.......< remember when Jesus rebuked PETER and called him SATAN..............!!!!!!!

One becomes sanctified and set apart through God's grace. God transforming our minds and hearts and working in us. Growing in grace means that you grow in knowledge of the Word, grow in Christ. I will provide a couple of verses below for both of my points:

Philippians 2:13
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Titus 2:11-12
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness. This is why grace is of utmost importance, you remove grace and you end up working FOR your salvation instead of working OUT your salvation (Philippians 2:12-13)

You should not be uncomfortable with the word free gift, it is a biblical phrase.

It is vastly different. The current Roman Church contrary to what they say is not the ancient church. Even during the Latin "era" of the church, Augustine would have not recognized the current Roman Catholic church as his own. It is vastly different.

There were no saints to pray to in the early church, nor Mary to ask for intercession.

Dave, your never gonna change some brain dead persons myopic view of scripture especially if they have been brainwashed by years of chanting some else's prayers. They loose their own identity and think they become those whom that they emulate. They need an intervention and intense deprograming because they loose their own ability to reason. That's how crack pot religions operate, political party's too.

The Holy Universal Church? Is that code for RCC! Otherwise there's no such thing!
Exactly......the name Catholic Chruch is a contradiction in and of itself.....Catholic = Universal and Ekklesia "Church" = Local visible body.....On the earth there are CHURCHES <--plural....there is NO SUCH THING AS A UNIVERSAL Church on the earth....they are autonomous individual bodies "Peter, living stones" each are independent of one another with equal right and authority before the throne if God as CHURCHES.....IN HEAVEN is One body of believers....!!
