I'm in. I doubt that those who believed in Manifest Destiny would see themselves as "white settlers". Wouldn't they see themselves as "civilized" and bringing western civilization to the New World because it was their definition of civilization?
Yeah, you got it. But the Catholics did itVia Spain to Mexico, Texas, California etc. Before the USA did the same to them. Same excuse. I'm opposed to cruelty and bloodshed double so if it is in gods name. It's niether predestination, nor Gods will.

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranqulity, provide for the Common Defence, Promote the General Welfare and Secure the Blessings of liberty to ourselves and our Posterity do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America: A 5th grade history lesson.
Would you support the CSA? Would you feed a hungry stranger? Have you? I'd rather do this in private but you seem to have me blocked or is it everybody?

We elect representatives who make up the government.
But it is still up to us to help our brother, not the government.

Do I support the CSA---Stupid question. I am just as loyal to the USA as you or anyone.
Would I feed the hungry stranger---Yes and I have many times.
I do not have you blocked. Unlike many, I have a life that only has a very limited time for this forum.
I don't spend hours every day on this forum.

And just because I am a proud Arkansans does not make me some kind of racist, bigots, or ignorant hillbilly.

You seem to expect much more from the government than the founding fathers ever intended.
You seem to want the government to take care of all your needs and wishes.

I disagree----I believe we are to provide for ourselves, our families, and those neighbors/brothers that cannot, through no fault of their own, provide for themselves.

The national debt you have referred to many times is the result of a government spending money on programs that they should never be involved in, i.e. taking care of the brother you and I should be taking care of.

No need to get offended, I was just testing you. If you were A racsist, or a bigot i wouldnt bother. My father was a hillbilly the tobacco farm burned to the ground, they went to texas, started over then the depression and the dust bowl took what was left. They wen to california looking for work and were called okies. they were replaced by broseros who were called wet backs.

I signed on here because it is a chat room this where i come to sit around and chat. Ive given 1/3 of my life to volenteer work and i don't have much left any more. i agree with FDR when opposed the then conservative Democratic party and said it is the governments job to take care of its people. I just thought maybe they may teach history different in Arkansas. Ithought you would know what CSA stood for because of that. Most people don't. We were taught that some very ugly things about the CSA but i never understood why they weren't alowed to suceed from the union. I was about 14 when i found out this is not a democracy.

calibob,
just came upon your thread' and even before I had a desire to give you an honest answer,
I looked upon your 'avartar' and it 'turned me OFF' - it's ever so worldly' and gives one to think that
is what you are all about! PLEASE, think about it...

by the way, you have not 'fooled us' one bit, please let your 'heart be true to Yeshua,
and what He expects of you...if you truly care...

The heirsey of Manifest Destiny was coined in 1845 was that it was destiny that white Protestant settlers were to spread DEMOCORACY and Chiritianity across North America and subjugate the natives, French Catholics and Mexicans that were already. Faith in this doctrine fueled the rapid advancement of the United States to the west and led to the slaughter of the inhabitants, through war and disease.
Ooooo..someones been studying thier history :)

I think part of what you said is a catch-22...for YEARS church and state have struggled to be independant of each other and hasnt been able to....church is made up of people WE (the people of the church) have FAILED to take care of our "brother" and thats WHY the government has to do it...if we openly did our part as church people i think the world would be a lot different and so would our government! Often goes hand in hand

...so it begs the question of how do we know who is really trying to invoke the will of God and who isn't.... And the answer is to do what Jesus said to do to figure out if a tree is good or bad... Judge it by it's fruit.
MOTIVES OF THE HEART..and only GOD can judge our motives...

You are correct when you say "We (the people of the church) have FAILED to take care or our "brother".
But there are so many who will not admit that.
They continue to blame the government and the rich for not taking care of the needy.
Instead of admitting their failure, they want to blame others.
Its always some one else fault, never their own failure.

Pointing fingers to take the blame has been consistant since Adam and Eve...typically..it was the churches responsibility for divorces..family isuues etc..now its mostly the court and the government :(

Well, i guess you may be right. Within the quilique [click] of people that I've ministered to and with the Calvaris [a piece of mexican american folk art] with a coffee cup represents sobering up and coming back from the living dead. Many of my friends found Jesus through 12 step programs. Step 1 is realizing we are out of control. step 2 is came to believe in god. and step 3 is seeking his help.

I was afraid this may be misunderstood and think it's demonic or something. It's the opposite. I thought maybe it would resonate with people who would rather remain anonymous, ' Recovery and Sobriety spoken here.' is the message. I was a stoner way before I was a christian. Preaching at me didn't work but I hoped their was a God other than than the false ones I worshiped.

I type with one hand, use my pinky for caps, thumb for space and index for letters. I've been writing over an hour an with a bump, most of it is gone.

Do you think I should change it? Do you, can you think of a better way? I'm not looking for the saved already, but for the lost looking for a way home. Those who realize that most religions including christian ones have superstition, ceremony and ritualism built in. We don't buy it!

Most people, [in my opinion] deire to belong to a group that agrees on nearly everything. I joined this group so we could dis agree in love, in love like a family of adults, while breaking bread and sipping wine or juice at the table.
