The heirsey of Manifest Destiny was coined in 1845 was that it was destiny that white Protestant settlers were to spread DEMOCORACY and Chiritianity across North America and subjugate the natives, French Catholics and Mexicans that were already. Faith in this doctrine fueled the rapid advancement of the United States to the west and led to the slaughter of the inhabitants, through war and disease.

People claiming to be men of god [small 'g'] have envolked 'the will of god' to conquer, loot and steal for thousands of years. Babaylon did it to Israel, Rome did it to Western europe, Spain did it to Mexico. Recently I heard it was Predestination. Wait, I thought Predestination was about Salvation The days of swords, sandals and Crusifixions were long over by 1845. And what about now, are we supposed to accept evil deeds by evil men quietly? Just shrug our shoulders and accept it as gods will?

I went shopping for an air conditioner since mine has been broken 1 1/2 mos. I posted to hear what other people think and why since I have never been anywhere topics like this could be discussed inteligentley with smart people who dissagree alot. That I may have a more rounded point of view. And have a chance to change my point of view and understand why others have the ones that they do.

All the evil we see about us was foretold in the Bible.
Man has brought it upon himself by his refusing to know and serve the God that created all things.
Our constant complaining and worrying will not stop this downward spiral the world is in.
God will deal with it in his own time.
Our effort should be to preach the Gospel to as many as possible every day.
Anything else we try will only fail.

Those who "invoked the will of God" to promote their own ambitions were really just invoking their own will and used God as a scapegoat for all the inhumane acts they committed during their pursuit of power.

...so it begs the question of how do we know who is really trying to invoke the will of God and who isn't.... And the answer is to do what Jesus said to do to figure out if a tree is good or bad... Judge it by it's fruit.

The key word is WE.
It is not the governments.
That is where some of you folks get it wrong.
You expect the government to take from some to give to others.
You need to help your brother and stop complaining about the government not doing enough,
And that starts with preaching the Gospel to our brother.

The government is supposed to be WE as in We the people of the United States... 5th grade memorization, before the Gettsyburg address. when I was 11

I'm in. I doubt that those who believed in Manifest Destiny would see themselves as "white settlers". Wouldn't they see themselves as "civilized" and bringing western civilization to the New World because it was their definition of civilization?
