My friend says God is not anymore real then ALL THE OTHER "religions" out there.
How do you convince them other wise? They say the scriptures contradict themselves...

It's not your job to convince your friend; that's the Holy Spirit's job, so pray for your friend. If they are genuinely open to hearing your perspective, you can do a bit of homework, such as reading Lee Strobel's The Case for Christ. If your friend isn't open, your responses to their comments will likely only be met with sarcasm.

it has been my experience that Atheist are looking for proof of God and if no one can show them then they won't believe. Remain, friends, Plant seeds, If he doesn't want to be friends then dust your feet off and go on.

This is fundamental! We are only instruments; it's the Holy Spirit who does the work.

For the preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that are perishing, but for those who believe, it is the power of God unto eternal life. What makes the difference is that each of us, who are born of the Spirit, are able ministers of the gospel. Pray the Lord convict him of his of his sin, prepare his heart and mind, to respond with a godly sorrow, and lift up Jesus. Make it a prayer project. A bit of fasting now and then, perhaps.

You have 3 major obsticles, Illiteracy, science and superstition. The printing press was invented about 500 years ago, what books they had were written by hand, rare and expensive, most people couldn't read, Bible storys were fictionalized. Apples and snakes, lions with a thorn in their paw or a toothache, Noah being afloat for 40 days & nights [it was 365] eternal virgins. Made up children's stories. Because it was a sin to question or doubt the RCC and most people couldn't check for themselves. The true stories were graphic, sexy and violent than the church wanted us to know about.

Science, the scientific method is not to believe anything that can't be measured, tested, weighed and repeated. That is why faith is the cornerstone of our realization. Who can measure God? Who can repeat God, as if he'd put up with it? It took me years to reconcile my hope with faith. Because when I was25 I didn't believe either.

Studying and being around faithful people brought me around. Faith can be contagous share some with him.

my guess is also that your friend is a big proponent of science. and science gives both theory backed by mathematics, specifically quantum mechanics.

are you even of aware of scientific concepts like the Bang, singularity, the laws of physics, electromagnetics, energy, inherited genetics, DNA structure, bacteria, dating methods (carbon-uranium-radioactive)?

are you aware of the mathematics involved within science?

did you know in the Book of Job God claimed to use a ruler to measure the universe [science calls this cosmetic microwave and its measured by red lines]?

did you know Noah measured in a mathematical form called cubits, plus they used a glue that is 100 times stronger than any glues we have today [this is what would be known as scientific method]?


I love science and mathematics because it proves the existence of God without a shadow of any doubt. it proves scripture.

most atheists believe us followers of God are retarded. and generally, most followers of God are retarded. some of us make it too easy for the educated to want nothing of us or of our God!!

the instant I read this thread, what you have presented is an impossible problem, having all atheist-questions answered is not how salvation works.

you can present one answer to knock down one brick from their wall just to have another brick replaced by the atheist. It will be a fruitless endless treadmill, and they are building up a wall that block them from salvation.

they are capable of endless mockery and parodies, you can try to lift them up to the position of faith, but they will drag you down with their skepticism, so all you can do is pray for them, and when you pray for them, the temptation to lose heart is very strong, so be prepared, because praying for them is not for the faint-hearted

Ask them their evidence that darkness exists.

Everybody is an individual so there is no general way of convincing every unbeliever that there is God.

Some want personal experience, some want intelectual arguments, some want something else.

I think its useless to discuss Bible or its contradictions with an atheist. From the existence of God to a Christian God is a relatively long way. Also, the existence of Christian God is not based on the existence of a perfect Bible.

Pray without ceasing.

Suffer it. Being married to a nonbeliever will kill your flesh - that's the good news. Our lives belong to God. If God wants you out of the marriage, God knows how to do that.

God knows what He said and God is the only One that truly knows what He meant when He said it! LOL!

We're all together down here trying to figure it out! God is the One that will teach us and set us straight, whenever He gets around to it! LOL!

Ask them for an example of a contradiction in the Bible and then if you can explain to them why it is not a contradiction.. At lest then they may start to doubt their own judgement or they may start to doubt the source they got that contradiction from..

There are anti-Christian websites that have whole lists of supposed Bible contradictions that some of these atheists just go to and copy and regurgitate because they have faith in the websites that provide them..

As for why i believe and why they should believe in God i just keep pointing them to the message of the Holy Bible as the reason why i believe what i believe.. Pointing people towards the Gospels is a Good way to encourage them to investigate for themselves the Message of Jesus.. If they refuse to even investigate the message of Jesus then it is not up to you to try to convince them using another method.. That person is showing themselves that they are an anti-christ and that they are not a potential seeker.. Their minds have been closed..
