I have paid on dates... the few times I've been on dates. I have no particular aversion to paying, except for one thing: expectation. If a woman "expects" that I would pay, I would encourage her to keep looking... because I would. Ain't got time for silly chivalry and fake notions of romance.

If a woman has means, and she wants to go on the date, she should pay for herself. The days of men being the primary breadwinners while the women stay at home waiting for "gentlemen callers" are long since done. Women are not above men, that they should be worshiped, nor below, that they should be treated as needy. They are equal... and should pay their own way as equals.

i think if you ask someone on a date you should pay but the same goes the other way. if they ask you on a date they should pay. A gentleman should offer to pay half if he can afford it or at least insist on picking up the tip but arrangements to the contrary are beter made in advance.

Most women i know are working outside the homes to be good helpmates to thier husbands by helping compensate for the mans income and to contribute financially..but then again..we arent talking bout married people :)

So I just tought of a different twist some guys like to flaunt money and show off with it. I think they have a self image problem som women like to take advantage of them. That's not really dating in my book, that's more like using people. Iknow a place in the basement of the Horseshoe in vegas where $20 [10 years ago] would get 2 orders of eggs Rothchild toast and coffee. Eggs Rothchild is 2poached eggs w/brenaise sauce atop 2 thick[old fashoned silver dollar] sized filet mignons per plate, come as you are, nobody cares. It's cozy, quiet and the food is great. That's the kind of place I like to go on dates..

I would say the man.

But one should define what constitutes a special date.
It doesn't have to be expensive to be special.

My now wife and I used to go to the beach and eat a bag of fish and chips from the chip shop.

One of our favourite as well was to get a KFC bucket and watch a movie.

We do now go for a nice expensive meals.

Even though she has her own bank account which her salary is paid into (she works for the church so it's not much but I insist she spends that on herself) we have a joint account which my salary gets paid into. I pay for the expensive meals.

We have a saying over here, often said "What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine:)

There was a man at one of my places of Work who only knew how to cook
chicken legs and corn on the cob. It was the only thing he could cook!

We always knew when he had a date as in his lunch break he would buy sweet corn and
chicken. Lol

I once went on a date when I was five. He was four.

Younger men were my thing back then.

He asked if I would be his girlfriend, I said yes and shared my
sweets with him so I suppose I paid!

Then he asked for a kiss, I said yuk, end of date. 😉

(True story it all took place in my back garden).

I was gutted you didn't want to kiss me.
Thanks for the sweets though.
