If you walk by faith and not by sight then couldn't one ask about your signature too?
Please explain, Romans12:13 is scripture, the Gospel of Thomas signature has Gnostic Ideology.
How can you even make a comparison.

Observation - Interpretation - Application
~ ~ ~
The night is far spent, the day is at hand:
let us therefore cast off the works of darkness,
and let us put on the armour of light.
Romans 13:12
Comparison 1.
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. John 9:4

Since we can do nothing against the truth but for the truth then howbeit you cast off your works of darkness seeing those who walk at night stumble because there is no light in them.

Romans 13

13:8-10 Owe no man anything, except to love each other; for he who loves the other man has fulfilled the law. The commandments, You must not commit adultery, You must not kill, You must not steal, You must not covet, and any other commandment there may be, are all summed up in this saying--You must love your neighbour as yourself. Love does no harm to its neighbour. Love is, therefore, the complete fulfilment of the law.

Pure nonsense; "seeing those who walk at night stumble because there is no light in them." a non-believer cannot "put on the armour of light. Your interpretation is faulty.

You are looking for an argument not the truth, go find someone who will take your bate, I will not.
Your first mistake is giving approval to posting Gnostic writings on a Christian website, the rest of your argument is pure nonsense. Make the first mistake right and then maybe we can talk.

Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 2 Tim 2:14

No one has said bearing fruit or working for the Lord is bad....this thread is about proper perspective......and a full read of the thread will reveal this truth.....
maybe so, there was no way i was gonna read that many posts lol.....I hear the same arguement over and over again on the chat site and figured it was sadly more of the same stuff. My hope is that all will be settled amd confident in their salvation where they can focus on sowing good more. God bless.

Oh there are a lot of people who believe in Jesus who fear losing their salvation.
One must ask why?

There are many who are told they were never saved to begin with.
One must ask why?

Many say that works save us, but do not quantify.
I wonder why?
maybe they are not living a very Christian lifestyle I have wondered myself at times, but ultimately thats between them and God. However it. could become a big concern if such a person is negatively affecting others, but then Id hope a pastor or God would deal with such a thing also.

Isn't the 'put on the armour of light' gnostic since those who walk in light of the gospel, have the truth in them?

Yes, I know. I was simply showing the full context of the signatures verse.

I think in their animus for a simple signature that appears here and due to an issue they had with me earlier, that they're now coming dangerously close to what is a rule violation in most communities. Imparting their opinion that a member is not a Christian.

Let me say, is it worth goading that animus to go further? Or should we let them be so that they reflect upon what they're demonstrating as evidence of the full measure of that bible verse in their own signature?

(I never said or implied that you were not a Christian, that is a bold face lie.)

I have reported you for having a Gnostic signature from the Gospel of Thomas and for abusive language and bearing false witness against me.

I never once spoke of or implied that you are not a Christian, that is a purely false statement from you. And everyone on this thread are my witness to your false statement.

Does the Gospel of Thomas have "Gnostic Ideology" I believe it does. A quote from the Gospel of Thomas does not seem proper to have as a signature on an International Christian website. Of course this is only my opinion.

The Gospel of Thomas: Gnostic or not?
However, in line with many other scholars, it seems best to conclude that it at least contains some Gnostic-like ideas such as salvation by secret knowledge, the extreme asceticism or disdain for the bodily appetites, polytheism, the reference to the bridal chamber, the idea of a heavenly teaching Christ who may not necessarily be human, etc. Thomas also places little emphasis on the value of the Old Testament Scriptures. This was certainly in line with Gnostic thinking. Even if Thomas is not Gnostic, it appears to have vast similarities with “Gnosticism” as broadly defined.
The Gospel of Thomas is part of the The Nag Hammadi Library, most of which is gnostic writings. Writings of various church fathers attribute it to the Manichæan gnostics.

Thank you for your information and I agree. The idea that Gnostic writings have entered this beautiful Christian forum should worry people. It was one of the warnings that the Book of 1st John proclaimed had infiltrated the early Church.

Thank you and God bless!

I where do you get MUST from. Do you NOT serve HIM, because you LOVE HIM?

You do know that you cannot add one thing, to the SALVATION HE bought and paid for IN FULL, and HE gave it to you as a FREE GIFT?

1 Peter 1:18-19 (HCSB)
18 For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from the fathers, not with perishable things like silver or gold,
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish.

Romans 5:15 (NASB)
15 But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.

The only pure MOTIVE for Serving Him, is BECAUSE YOU LOVE HIM.

I can't help but note your sarcasm.
I have given you my answer and I've supported my answer with scriptures. Thanks.
I am not being sarcastic. Did Jesus become the Son of God at Mary's birthing Him? A yes or no will suffice. I see that by your refusal to give a 'yes' or 'no', you think He became the Son of God at the birthing. Please answer.

Works do not save us. If they did Immanuel would not have had to die on the cross as that final blood sacrifice for all sins and as the unblemished lamb. Good works are a sign of our salvation. Not a means to achieve our salvation.
God's grace saves. That alone is his irrevocable calling and gift to us. All we need to receive it? Faith in Christ and his message on the cross. The moment we believe we are indwelt by the holy spirit that knew us before the creation of the world. Because Jesus / Immanuel knows his sheep by name. And we know him.
Many are called but few are chosen. Many claim Christ but few are the chosen, the elect, of God. We see this when we witness celebrities wearing diamond encrusted crosses and yet acting like the devil.

John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand

If you have heard the voice of the shephard, that is good. So after you have believed the shephard, we are told to follow him.

What does it mean to follow him?
