Many, many, many movies in this thread that I have heard of but have not seen.

A few of my all-time favorites:

DUNE
Ladyhawke
The Ten Commandments
The Quiet Man
Contact
The Shawshank Redemption
Conan The Barbarian

Some I saw in the past couple of years I really enjoyed:

47 Ronin
Minions
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
And I thought I was the only person I would ever know who'd seen Ladyhawke ^.^ Definitely a great movie. And that reminds me!

Escape from Sobibor

^ A great historical/war movie about the ONLY mass escape from a termination camp in WWII Nazi-land. It stars Rutger Hauer, the guy who played Captain Navarre in Ladyhawke, who also played the bad guy in the Stallone movie Nighthawks. Highly recommended, though maybe not all scenes are great for the whole fam.

I LOVE movies. I watch on average 2 movies a week. Most of them are repeats. The only genres I don't watch are horror, and gory/bloody/violent/too much nudity. I think I've watched almost all family movies and rom coms there are -_- I'll list my favorites (all that I can remember).

Family friendly Romance and Comedy movies:

The Princess Bride (Watched it 3x xD)
Ever After (1x)
Ella Enchanted (3x)
Enchanted (4x)
13 going on 30 (2x)
Just Like Heaven (2x)
Sweet Home Alabama (1x)
The Proposal (1x)
Clueless (2x)
Groundhog Day (1x)
Blast From The Past (1x)
Coming To America (1x)
Kate & Leopold (2x)
Penelope (2x)
Sydney White (2x)
10 Things I Hate About You (3x)

Really Romantic and Beautiful movies:

The Lake house (2x)
The Song (1x) ---> Most beautifully made Christian movie I've ever seen.
Family friendly Comedy movies:

Mean Girls (2x)
Freaky Friday (2x)
Night At The Museum trilogy (3x)
Shanghai Noon (2x)
Shanghai Knights (2x)
School of Rock (1x)
Back To The Future trilogy (1x)
Tooth Fairy (1x)
The Pacifier (2x)
She's The Man (1x)
Bend It Like Beckham (2x)
Hair Spray (2x)
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid trilogy (2x)

Funny but not family friendly:

Spy (1x)
The Other Guys (1x)
Bridget Jones Diary trilogy (1x)

Epic movies:

LOTR trilogy (4x)
The Hobbit trilogy (1x)
The Prestige (1x)
Inception (1x)
Expendables trilogy (1x)
Hotel Rwanda (1x)
Amazing Grace (4x)
Ip Man trilogy (2x)
Good Will Hunting (1x)
The Martian (1x)
The Hunger Games trilogy (1x)
The King's Speech (1x)
300 (1x)
Kabul Express (1x) ----> Dude, this would change your views on modern warfare. It's very epic.
The Usual Suspects (2x)
Star Wars 1-6 (2x)
Jack Ryan (bias here, only because it's Chris Pine)

Suspense killed me movies:

The Negotiator (3x)
Phone booth (1x)
Taken trilogy (1x)
Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol (2x)
Mission Impossible Rogue Nation (1x)
Children Of Men (1x)

Fan girling movies:

MCU MOVIES!!!
Star Trek trilogy (reboot)

Sad Ending movies:

Perfect Storm
Eight Below

Animated:

Mulan 1 & 2 (More than 10x)
Kung Fu Panda trilogy (3x)
HTTYD 1 & 2 (More than 5x)
The Secret World of Arriety (1x) Gibli
Howl's Moving Castle (3x) Gibli

Movie that left an impact, but not really recommendable to Christians:

Cruel Intentions
Sleepy Hollow
Warm Bodies

-----

I personally did not like Interstellar that much, so I'm not including it in my list of favorites. Don't understand all the hype. IMHO The Martian was so much better.

Okay, I have a much longer list than this but who's got time to read all. xD

I've never seen the new True Grit, but I've heard good things about it. I lived the old one, though. And of course Outlaw Josie Wales was good, what else can you expect from Clint? And I do remember seeing the Sacketts somewhere... It stars someone that Tom Selleck sometimes acts with, I believe is how I found it.

I sort of have a hard time picturing you sitting there watching Little Mermaid, though..
My youngest daughter watched it endlessly..and I loved the music....

The Sacketts had Sam Elliot and Ben Johnson, along with Tom Selleck....also Glen Ford..

A Walk to Remember was grand. As for Mr. Magorium's Wonder Imporium... I just like to say it. Over and over. It just feels so nice on the lips. And now that you have reminded me of it, I will probably be saying it at random for the rest of the day.

It's such a good thing you don't live near me. If I had a movie partner, my face would be eternally glued to the television.

Princess Bride
Braveheart
Fury
All of Quentin Tarantinos movies
First Blood
Full Metal Jacket
Seabiscuit
Secretariat
Days of Thunder
Top Gun

Worst movie ever goes to the Ghostbusters remake. Or possibly that movie with Johnny Depp - Cry Baby. Maybe its a tie.

Musicals put me to sleep. Especially Phantom of the opera.

It is great to say lol. Before that movie, I never thought to question the hot dog/bun ratio. Why for the love of mustard are there never enough buns? :p

I forgot to mention Happy Feet. I don't know how I found an old thread that WBM had
started and had not been posted in since about the beginning of this year... but the
last post was a clip from that movie, and then I went and watched it again :D
It may have been the hundred and first time I have seen it

I trend toward dramas, although I also like some Sci-fi, Superhero, and some Westerns. Film Noir is a niche I enjoy.
I probably could (I never really thought much about it) make a list of about 75 to maybe around 90 films I could watch many times without tiring of viewing them. Works of art, many of them, whatever that means. To me, anyway.
Outside of films with Marlon Brando, in no particular order.

A Streetcar Named Desire
Brando, the best actor ever. Not to mention that even though I am male he draws me in with his magnetism.

The Godfather
Great movie, more Brando. It doesn't hurt that I am Italian and raised in NYC.

Citizen Kane
Epic. Says so much about life, as all great movie dramas do.

Casablanca
The sacrifices people sometimes make for the greater good inspires me. Something many in this country seems to have forgotten.

Lawrence of Arabia
Whoa...

The Wizard of Oz
The older I get, the more I appreciate the simple themes of family and home.

Midnight in Paris
A sweet whimsical tale.

Lost in Translation
Nice depiction of aging, and loneliness, and relational struggles.

Taxi Driver
Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese do a great job portraying the perils of Manhattan life in the mid seventies and the deep dark places the human mind can sometimes go.

The Wrestler
Life can be tough.

The Grapes of Wrath
Ditto.

12 Angry Men
A hard look at what drives and shapes people and how they express themselves, interact, and perceive.

Who doesn't like a good movie?

I thought it might be nice to have a place where we can brag on and recommend movies to each other.

What movies did you really enjoy? What movies did you wish you hadn't watched? What movies do you recommend for the whole family?
Oh this is one of my favorite topics. I love movies.

Since 1990 or so: I love the recent American Godzilla flicks... Star Trek, the Undiscovered Country... the first Matrix... the first two Terminators... the first Jurassic Park... 1917, Dunkirk, Fury, Darkest Hour... Avengers, Antman, Man of Steel... Wild Hogs, Home Alone, Toy Story...

Pre-1990: The original War of the Worlds, 20 Million Miles to Earth, The Day the Earth Stood Still, King Kong (1933), 2001: A Space Odyssey, Star Wars... Dirty Rotten Scoundrels... Casablanca, Maltese Falcon, The Cowboys, High Noon... Ben Hur, The Robe, Ten Commandments...

Oh, I do love movies. Wish there were some good ones to see in the theaters. Wish I had someone to go see movies with.. ha.
