I think Aviva is doing great so far.

Aviva, let's switch gears a bit and tell us about how you met your Christian husband. I like to hear love stories and i watch a lot of Hallmark movies. :D

I agree, she would benefit as would we, but she is just here to answer a few general questions, a conversation to get understanding goes both ways, unless i missed a few posts, I do not recall aviva asking any questions about our faith.

What shocks me is her arrogance towards many if not all here, people ask nicely and she makes fun of people, plenty of examples above in this thread I wish she would ask us a few questions but she voiced that she has no interest ,It is a shame as we want to prove to her Jesus IS the Messiah but she does not seem to want to listen.
If she would in sincerity ask pertinent question about our faith I would gladly agree to answer, I could prove to her Christ is the Messiah with the old testament alone but will aviva ask in this thread so we can have a real conversation both ways?.

She is the only one who knows.

Blessings Cameron
Hey brother. I guess I'm never bothered personally by the way someone behaves towards me, and particularly so by the world. But it is counterintuitive to me as a Christian to treat unbelievers poorly, regardless of their demeanor.
Suppose she came to your church. Wouldn't you bend over backwards to manifest God's love to her? If she behaved as you have said there, wouldn't that just reinforce all the more the need to act lovingly?
I don't mean to come off holier-than-thou. I'm often very unloving. But why she believes she came to the site and why she's actually here may be very different from God's perspective.

Multiplied grace.

I am curious about something....

What do you think about Yeshua ? Not the obvious stuff like was he the Messiah, but a little deeper. I assume you would deny his resurrection? How would you account for his teachings, were they inspired? What about his claim to be the son of God, was he delusional or absolutely crazy? We know from history many people were inspired to greatness by his teachings, how would you account for this? His impact on western civilization would appear to greatly surpass that of any other person from his time forward, is this just happenstance?

Sorry my question is rambling. Feel free to answer with as little or as much as you choose.

When I was little my parents moved from Israel to Ireland. We met when we were 11 in the same class and got married when we were 18 to the dismay of out families. Unfortunately he died in an accident when his job overworked him and he fell asleep at the wheel on the way home.

I don't see him one way or the other. I believe he taught things that were in direct contradiction of the Torah.

I also met my wife in high school. I consider myself lucky. Sorry to hear about the accident but happy to hear about the good times.
Stop by the coffee thread, we have different types of coffee there, including Turkish coffee.

It doesn't matter what I believe, but I do believe she thought so. I'm for covering people's sins. I don't always do it, but I always wish I had.

When I disagree with someone I like to seek out an unbiased observer. That is what Matthew 18 teaches.

That certainly does not come as a surprise... Considering Christians aren't supposed to marry outside the faith; and a Jewish woman giving herself to a man who is a "blasphemous idolater" (like myself)!? SACRILIGE!

Seriously, though... doesn't this show that you guys are putting yourselves before God? I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything.... but... your families kind of have a point, you know? Don't you care if your sons turn out to be "idolaters" like me?

He wasn't a blasphemous idolater. There is a reason why you don't see Jews going door to door trying to convert people, and that is because we don't believe in exclusivity. As long as you follow the laws of Noah you are a righteous gentile who's equally entitled to G-d's blessings and the world after. The Torah, or the 613 Mitzvot are only for Jewish people.

Different Jews have differing degrees of Orthodoxy, I tend to be more modern while others are quite conservative. Were I one of the Hasidic or ultra-Orthodox such a marriage would never have been allowed. Despite what you seem to think we don't all hate Christians.

That all being said I do not recommend interfaith marriages for numerous reasons.

A good policy. In that case, I believe there was a better way to make your point.
When I say that, I don't mean you necessarily acted sinfully. I teach my children the difference between good and best. Good is acceptable, best usually blesses.

This is what I doing Cameron, bending backwards, sometimes you have say hard truths for people to listen, this is what I am doing here. I do want for everyone to know the one truth, Jesus is our Messiah and Savior, I want also for her to know Christ and be saved, not for me but for her.

I get that. But she, in her mind, didn't come to seek salvation. So those who have no interest in Christ outwardly often respond over time to the Christ in you without knowing why. A long time ago a man said to me...always be preaching the gospel...use words if you need to.
Sometimes the only gospel people are open to is the Christ you live before them.

I'm not interested in listening to the Jewish teachings formulated by hypocritical writers and Pharisees.

I'm only interested. Why don't you think you should obey God's words instead of creating the savior you want?

God says Jesus is the Messiah,The Old Testament prophesied the suffering of Jesus, and the description of being crucified is so true. Aren't we reading the same book? Old Testament?.

I can see the argument for both really. There are numerous examples of sins being references as "greater" for sure. However, when we analyze what sin actually is and does, we see that all sin separates us from God. Because no unclean thing can enter the Kingdom of God, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to atone for the sins of mankind. This means that if I committed even the smallest of sins (lets say I drove faster than the speed limit), I would be just as unclean and worthy to enter God's Kingdom as someone who committed genocide on a group of people without the Savior's ultimate sacrifice.

I know you aren't a Christian and do not accept Jesus Christ as your Savior but I just wanted to explain the other side of the argument from a Christian perspective. What appears to be in contradiction on the surface, isn't so for me.

I personally lump sin into two categories:

1.) Forgivable sin

2.) Unforgiveable sin
I answered here because I didn't want to derail the Trump worship/Biden slander thread.

Nowhere in the Tanakh does G-D make such a decree that all sins are equal or speeding is the same as genocide. G-D specified differing degrees and punishments from mild to severe. He also never said that even the mildest sin was unforgivable and one can't go to "heaven". Show me in the Torah where he ever said anything like this please.

Hashem has said he will show mercy to the merciful and will forgive those who sincerely ask.

God’s Laws are concrete and unforgiving outside of His Son’s Sacrifice.

Only the Levites were allowed to touch the Ark.

The sin of disobeying God’s Word resulted in DEATH for this guy. He didn’t kill anybody or commit adultery, and even his motive for disobeying God was by human standards noble.

Accept Jesus and live! There is no sacrifice YOU can make or good deed you can do to save yourself.

1 Chronicles 13:9-10

New King James Version

9 And when they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled. 10 Then the anger of the Lordwas aroused against Uzza, and He struck him because he put his hand to the ark; and he died there before God.

Quoting the bible to a Jew is pretty meaningless since we don't believe in it. I follow the Torah.

I either misspoke or there was a misunderstanding. The old testament doesn't say a mild sin is unforgiveable. The bible does say that there is only one unforgiveable sin (blasphemy against the Holy Spirit). I was saying that I compartmentalize sin into two fields, one being forgivable and the other being unforgiveable. Meaning, regardless of the sin being adultery, rape, etc... it is still forgivable provided it wasn't blasphemy.

I do think sins are different in that the consequences vary. I also think they are the same in that without Jesus Christ's atonement, I wouldn't have an opportunity to return to God as I am a sinner (even if all I ever did wrong was break the speed limit). If one doesn't accept Christ as their Savior, I can see how this would be confusing and contradictory.
