I am worried about my salvation. Hear me out, so I admit to many wrongs, and have been baptized but I worry about losing my salvation. Especially now, in this season, because I have a lot of time to reflect. I have a lot of time because in my workplace, there is basically not a lot to do. I am a Receptionist at a manufacturing company. I am given little to do and so, I feel worthless. I also sit alone and rarely communicate with my coworkers. For many hours. I feel like a security guard, really. Then I compare it to my life, and think "am I going to Hell, is it a void, is it this abyss where all you do it think about past failures and there is no hope?" I am distressed by these thoughts. I really don't know how else to explain my struggle and hope this comparison is not true. I also read in the Bible that the gatekeepers were highly trusted people, and that maybe this is some form of ministry or God wishes to teach me patience.
It seems to me that you need help in relation to hope, and in relation to someday fulfilling whatever it is that God has called you to do.

In relation to hope, I gave you some information regarding the helmet of salvation (Eph. 6:17) or the helmet of the hope of salvation (1 Thess. 5:8) on your other thread about mental health, and I hope that you will avail yourself of it. Learning how to protect your mind with this piece of spiritual armor needs to be your first priority.

When it comes to fulfilling whatever it is that God has called you to do, you must be very careful to not put the proverbial cart before the horse. Jesus said:

Jhn 15:4
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Jhn 15:5
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

A branch which is connected to or which is abiding in a vine does not need to worry about producing fruit. Instead, the natural outworking of it abiding in the vine will eventually be fruitfulness as the life of the vine flows through the branch. In other words, it is the life of the vine which is really producing the fruit, and as long as the branch remains attached to the vine, it will be fruitful. On the contrary, if a branch is not abiding in or attached to the vine, then no fruit will be produced.

Why am I saying this?

I am saying this because if you try to produce fruit for God on your own, then you will fail to do so every single time. However, if you concentrate on abiding in the vine, or abiding in Christ, then his life will flow through you, and you will eventually be fruitful. This is what I meant by not putting the proverbial cart before the horse. In other words, put Christ first, and not your desire to produce fruit, and the fruit will be produced by the life of Christ in you. If you reverse the order and concentrate on producing the fruit, then you are destined to fail. I hope that you understand what I am saying. Jesus said this of his own works:

Jhn 14:10
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

In the same way that the Father in Christ did the works in Jesus' ministry, it must be Christ in you who does the works in your own ministry. Again, a branch cannot produce fruit apart from the vine, and you can never produce fruit apart from Christ. Set your focus on him, and the rest will occur naturally or supernaturally.

Like I said earlier, your first order of business needs to be to learn how to protect your mind, and that is what the helmet of salvation or the helmet of the hope of salvation is all about. It is available to you through Christ. You simply need to learn how to put it on. I hope that you will check out what I linked you to on your other thread. Your problems can be pretty easily resolved. I am praying for you.

Lyra78, Those who wrote before, especially showing the scriptures, should comfort your mind and heart. But my moniker should also give you a comfort. If I am the Manasseh of the Christian Faith, and yet am forgiven, anyone can be if they truly turn their hearts and lives over to Christ. He is the Son of God. He is your Salvation, Justification, and Sanctification. He is your Holiness before God.

Welcome to CC, Lyra...
May the Lord give you the peace and assurance you need. Don't worry about losing your salvation; just keep talking to God. Put your trust entirely in Jesus Christ to save you and lead you. He will certainly do so.

You might want to use the "non-busy" time in your workday to talk to Him... just like you're sending a text to a beloved parent or grandparent. Send the 'note' and patiently await a response. If you are permitted to have music playing, perhaps you can stream K-Love radio quietly in your office; it's available nationwide online, I believe.

As a security officer for 5 years, I have come across similar thoughts. Like “is this what I’m going to be doing for the rest of my life?” “This job is so meaningless” but a year after leaving security, I had a few other jobs, then I started composing music a year ago and on the artist name that I was using (no longer my artist name anymore cause I guess someone else owned it before i did, so I had to take down all of my music from it) a bunch of my songs were being played on radio stations worldwide and on every music streaming platform. I believe that started happening cause I really started reading the Bible a whole lot more. I made sure I spent way more time doing Christian activities, than creating music and still managed to create 55 songs this year.

So just cause you have this current job right now, I have discovered it’s way better to have a job that you hate, instead of a job that you love because then you aren’t stagnate. You are constantly jumping from job to job developing yourself and your skills, making you become the person that God has destined you to become.

Keep praying and continue to dive deeper and deeper into your faith.

Yup, your boring job might be your “thorn”..and you pray to God to remove the thorn like Paul. But the Lord doesn’t remove the thorn but changes your heart towards the job. Once you are happy with the job and excel, then God probably gets you a new job because you’re ready.

thank you for responding. the fact is that there is nothing to do at this job anymore. The first two years, I had data entry, and they modernized the process so now I just have calls. When I'm not taking a call, my mind starts to wander.

Precious friend, I know how that is - when I was in that position I went to a temporary employment agency, and they found me a better position. Thanks Be Unto God.

Amen.

Newbie here...struggling with depression and anxiety. Hoping to make some online friends. :)
I struggled with anxiety for about 10 years but no more. The chains of anxiety have been broken!, the antidote for anxiety that Christ teaches is contentment (sermon on the mount)
Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life...)

How blessed you are! All that time and nothing to do? All those questions with nothing but time to seek out the answers. Again, how blessed you are! As you can see, it's all in the perspective.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the words of God meaning ALL the answers you seek and the solid foundation you seek to stand upon are right there, in the Book. Seek and you will find, I guarantee you all here who have come to faith know this truth. We can't give it to you, you have to seek after it yourself and many willing to discuss and help along the way.

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known Me, Philip? he that hath seen Me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in Me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe Me for the very works' sake. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in My name, I will do it.

If you can't read, get the Bible on audio. You may not know Gods plan for you now, but He has certainly seen to it you have enough time to be prepared for when He does. I'll pray for you.

Sister Lyra, this time of the year is hard on many people sis!! You're not alone in this!! Focus your mind on remembering pleasant experiences., rather than you're feeling right now. (Phil 4:7-9) This greatly helps me get through these tough times. As far as being or feeling anxious what reason is there to feel this way?? ZIP!! The good Lord said be anxious for nothing, rather be and stay thankful for what you have, because many are far worse than you are. This mindset has helped me a great deal sis!! The good Lord wants us to be able to help others, but we cannot do this until we first help ourselves.
