God does not punish his children. He trains them for whatever HIS will is. He kills our enemies

NO, He's not punishing you... you have fallen in to the trap that many have in believing one must be married in order to be accepted in society and to not be lonely.

Before you go any further you should look up all the scriptures that deal with marriage and you'll find it's better to not marry so you can devote the whole of your life to the Lord so He can be first in your life and not have to split your affections between the Lord and some babe.

By putting such a high priority on getting married... you are wide open to be lead by the enemy in to marrying some woman you wished you never had because it was not something the Lord led you in to... that is if you have hot pants and just MUST be with someone.

It's better to be married to the Lord!

Thanks for the responses. I have learned a lot. I am going to keep trying to find a new job and a wife.
That's the spirit! One of my favorite verses is from Luke 18:1 "... always pray and never give up!" God's timing is not your timing. You have applied yourself and expect your reward now. We are a microwave generation. Have patience. Trust in Him. Psalm 37:4 "Delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Hang in there, the best is yet to come! :D

I also wanted to say i used to have a mindset that maybe god would punish me, and it was because i could find faults inside myself and was constantly judging myself harshly.

I am not sure if that is what is happening to you, but if it is, please know that jesus loves you. He died you. He wouldn't punish you at all. He forgave you of everything, so its okay to forgive yourself too :):)

Favorite bible verse to help: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

also: mathew 7:7. (If you are asking him for something, he won't turn around and give you the opposite to punish you at all)
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.9“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?

I do not want to become rich I would just like to leave my low paying retail job and find a job that will allow me to make a decent living. My friends and family are all married with kids and have the jobs they wanted. I put a lot of time and effort into improving my life and I feel like my hard work doesn't pay off. Doesn't the bible say God helps those who help themselves?

God helps those who humble themselves and ask for God's help. Being self sufficient is due to pride. The will of God is that we must trust and rely on Him at all times. Getting all what the world thinks we want does not always mean blessings. They become a curse when they cause us to become self sufficient and lead us away from God. Our life is not about our will but His perfect will. Our help comes from the Lord but He will help us in the best way and far better than what we think is good for us. God has seen the seeds that you have planted so don't be anxious for in His own time, harvest will come. (Gal 6:9)

Jeremiah 29:11New International Version (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

To "Wait upon the Lord." and to "Rest in the Lord," is an indication of a healthy, Holy Faith, while impatience is an indication of an un-healthy, un-holy unbelief. Be patient with yourself and trust in God, in a year, you may be testifying as to how God built your character to be the best man for your person, and a steadfast hard working man of God! Be encouraged, and let not your faith be scourged. Tell Satan to pack his bags and take a hike! You know the character of God!

Can you show me the scripture that says God helps those who help themselves?

I do know it says "But seek
ye first the kingdom of Elohim(God) and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Mat. 6:33)

Hi I am in my early 40's and thought by now I would be married with kids and have a great career but I am single and have a job that is going no where. I have done things in the past to change my situation. I graduated from college in 2015 and have been looking for a job with one of the local oil refineries but have had no luck getting job yet. Years ago I started using online dating web sites but I am still single. Do you think God is punishing me or could there be some other reason my situation has not turned out better ?
I don't think the Lord intends for all of us to marry. I don't want to marry.

No...the Bible doesn't say God helps those who help themselves...it's been quoted forever but it does not come from the Bible. God helped us because we couldn't help ourselves and that is why Jesus died for you and me...

Pray now trusting God to lead and help you because we all need to become dependent on God for everything and trust Him to work out the plan He has for each of our lives... Trust Him that His plan will be your best for your life.

res33 i agree it clearly says if you can contain (not lust, not masterbate, not fornicate) it is better to be as he was... but if you cannot it is better to marry than burn in your lusts

Lust can be a very powerful force. Paul tells us there is nothing wrong with getting married, if that is what a person wishes to do. But just because we struggle with lust doesn't mean we should give in to lust. Life without lust is quite a beautiful thing.

well in the bible it states that god chastens those he cares before but as to answering your question no god is not punishing you for when god chastens his children you will both learn from it and be better for it though you may not like it when god is seeking for you to change he will tug on your heart to do something good, things such as your marital status or love life god does not force upon anyone and like wise he will not hinder you from such ideals I know the feeling im in my 20s and have not been on a single date or relationship in any form but that does not mean to be so is some punishment by god for what matters to him likewise jesus is to strive to live a righteous life if this for you is something you desire to be ,in a relationship or even married then do so,as long as this does not keep you from serving god and putting him first then you have nothing to fear I mean just think of david and solomon in the bible each one had hundreds of wives and concubines and god allowed it but it wasnt until they were disrighteous or went to serve other gods that he had a problem with them this question of yours is actually not that uncommon nowadays nor was it thousands of years ago many have wondered am I doing right for god, another person who shared such a question was abram and his wife sarai abram followed god faithfully all the while god promising that he would make of abram a great nation and later when god changed their names to abraham and sarah and said that they would have their first official blood child sarah laughed in her heart for both she and abraham were now an hundred years old and she thought that it perhaps what not possible for her to have a child but when god informed abraham of sarahs laughing and confronted her she knew it was true and believed and had isaac,so dont think that just because you are slightly old that god can not still bless you ive said many times our life span according to genesis is not one hundred as people so groan it is in fact one hundred and twenty so why not live to that age and try not to worry on such trivial matters as stated in acts, be careful for nothing, for god gives many blessings but worrying about them so much can keep you from doing what god has planned for you so dont start thinking this is the end for what your life can be when in truth your life has still just begun so live it righteously and gratefully for our live is but a vapour but alongside god it can be even longer, even job who went through a time of loss lived to see generations of family before he died so dont give up because If you take a look around youll find god has not given up on you, just try thinking on such blessings as are you alive,do you have family, are you financially doing well,do you have a form of home,do you have good health,do you have friends that support you through tough times,do you have a place of worship,do you have enough food, if you have these blessing in your life then god is there with you just try not to think on your woes so much because im sure god wants to further bless you but if you let yourself get dragged into a pit of despair then how can god bless you for in such a pit you cant move forward so do your best to move forward and youll find gods been waiting on you patiently to bless you with what is laid on your heart just go forward and accept what he's had waiting for you during your time of despair he knows we have troubles and trials and will give us the time to be melancholy but he also wants us to serve him while along the way obtaining all that is on our heart after all dont forget why did god make woman, because man was lonesome and god saw that despite all man had that he was sad so he made woman and from there on man and woman came together as one and were happy so its foolish to think that god would keep you from each other and its better to move forward and embrace what god has in store for all of us than to so often wonder if god is to blame for what ourselves have not truely strived for, simply do your part and god will do his part thats all there is to it
