"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are.
I don't believe in circumstances.
The people who get on in the world are the people who get up
and look for the circumstances they want, and, they find them, make them."
--George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) Irish Playwright, critic

Two pops to mind, both from confirmed atheists.

Arne Næss sr, philosopher

"There is no meaning to life, but there is sufficent meaning to fill your life with, to make it meaningful". Or something like that, paraphrased perhaps, from memory, from the 1998.

John Mcafee, programmer and philosopher.

" There is only one ism people, individualism". Think he then went on to say this. "if you are not (true to) you, you are nobody". And perhaps went on with, "you did not live people". And told people to quit boring jobs and do what they love.

Both are very true for faith.

And [a policed censorship] would nip opinion in the bud; it would stop criticism as it reared its head, and it would gather all the power to the supreme party and the party leaders, rising like stately pinnacles above their vast bureaucracies of Civil servants, no longer servants and no longer civil. (Winston Churchill, on socialism)
