My goodness! I just read a blog where a Christian woman says that an ex-witchdoctor turned Christian told her that Pokemon are cartoon versions of real demons and their attributes. (But her beginning premise really seems to be nothing more than 'ugly cartoons' = evil). There are other Christians who are using a false story from Time magazine (in which the creator is interviewed) to confirm this 'truth' that he created Pokemon to rebel against his Christian parents by promoting the occult and other nature worship. But it's a load of bollocks. Read the interview yourself and you'll find the creator created Pokemon because he loved insects and wanted to instill imagination and wonder in children. And he didn't have Christian parents and abhors violence.
I'm not here to convince anyone that Pokemon is good. I'm just saying we need to be careful that as Christians we promote the truth in all circumstances. Otherwise, we're lying and masking our lies as godly discernment. And that's not on.
