Some years back, we had one of those lamps that hang down from the ceiling and have a wooden bob underneath the glass part (a bit ufo- like, with a rounded thing sticking down)
... this lamp was placed so that it was hanging exactly halfway between the sofa front and the table edge and somewhat low....
which resulten in everyone slamming their heads in it about once a day or more
