How come women do not cover their heads in Church anymore?

My understanding is that Angels honor God and His order.
Head coverings were for a woman to show her submission. Nothing about her looks or any of that. Pauls allusion here was to imply that angels would be offended. For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.1 cor 11:10

It is fare more important than that.

The bravest most spiritual woman I ever knew was Corrie Ten Boom. Here she is telling her story to Kathryn Kuhlman. Corrie Ten Boom did not wear a piece of cloth on her head in church.

There's no point in them having a token sign on their head in church, if once they leave the building they want to be the authority, which in many cases they do.

Actually as for me and in my church, we always base on the bible, so it is said that women should cover their head while attending holy meeting, especially at church. So in that case we always cover head. And if u r used to cover your head then continue to do so SavedNblessed, if we are convinced to do it then lets do. But for the others who are not yet convinced to apply it, we cannot juge them and cannot force them to wear it, let only the Holy Spirit do the work.

Head-covering is far more important is that. From Ephesians 5:21-32, it is apparent that man is a type of Christ and woman is a type of the Church. When a woman covers her head, it figuratively shows to angelic majesties that the Church is under the authority of the Lord Jesus. when the Church does not cover its head, it shows something else, that the Church is in rebellion to the Lord Jesus. That may appear meaningless in the physical world, but the effect of that ordinance on the spiritual world is significant . . .

We know a couple, Roy D. and wife, whose primary ministry for years has been to help demonized Christians to freedom in the Lord Jesus. Roy would work with the afflicted brother or sister while his wife sat in the back of the room praying. He told me that during the course of a deliverance, he sometimes had to take several minutes to state his position and authority in the Lord Jesus before the demons would obey them. After his wife recognized the truth of head-covering and began practicing it, Roy told me that he never had to do that again, that the demons instantly recognized that Roy and his wife were under the authority of the Lord Jesus and consequently had authority over them.

Now that isn't an imaginary story about some unknown people in Tierra del Fuego, I know Roy and his wife personally.

You have a "constant conflict, inside" about head coverings, yet no conflict at all about sitting under a woman pastor???

Isn't the head covering passage all about headship? I won't debate here exactly what it means -- a physical covering showing that headship, or hair being the "covering" to show that headship, or if it means something else. But if you're so convicted about covering your head -- which is supposed to show headship and women being under authority, not in authority -- but have no conviction about sitting under a woman pastor in authority over all the men in the church, then aren't you kinda straining a gnat and swallowing a (nicely adorned) Indian camel?

The picture of the camel (see attachment) illustrates perfectly why women should cover their heads. Whether they are bejeweled or shaven we come equally before God in spirit and in truth. It is not the outward appearance that counts but rather it is the beauty that is in our heart and in our thoughts as we come before God in humility, humbling ourselves in His presence.

I respect that, and I've seen evidence of that throughout this post. Everyone who has taken a contrary view to yours, regardless of how vehemently opposed they were to what you said, has taking umbrage with the issue, not the original poster. I've found it encouraging. Although I must admit the name calling did make me cringe a bit.

Now however I read: "I don't know what you are trying to tell me sister, but if you are suggesting what I think you might be, I caution you." This looks to me like a veiled (please excuse the pun) threat. Then I read: "I just sent you a PM. You know exactly where I am coming from. Make it clear what you mean by that verse. If you are suggesting that what is from God is not from God, then you are in grave danger." I don't know how to read that as anything but a threat. The target of these sentences is not your post, it is you.

True, I just got here, and taking this stand could have me banned (which I accept as due punishment if it comes to that) and this is just my opinion, but I don't think anyone should be threatened because someone else takes offense with what they say.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, by starting this thread, my intention was to just get some insight, with Biblical proof, on this topic of ”women covering their heads in church” which I so wrongly had classified as a cultural difference. I can't make people do something. That's beyond my control. I agree I can get aggressive at times and I'm sorry for that behavior. My motive was to spread awareness (sow). I guess people aren't aware of this topic as much in US as they are in India. Maybe because no one talks about it over here. Like Professor, there are many new believers, who don't even know about it. So I was led just to maybe bring it to attention again. I'm really sorry if I've disrespected someone.

understanding of how it happened (if you don't already know - apologies if you do):

following a Vatican council/conference (late 50's? i'll have to check), a reporter ambushed a cardinal (i believe) with the question (pp):

"what about veils for women? do they still have to wear them"?

the representative simply said the issue hadn't been addressed, but the press ran the story worldwide that the veil was no longer required. and that was the end of that.

The result? We were once the richest country on the globe, a Christian lighthouse to the rest of the world. Now we are a debtor nation and the filth we spread abroad through our movies and prrnographic industry has made us worse than the nations that surround us.

If you look around with an open heart, the Holy Spirit shows you that judgment is coming on our land. In fact, it has already begun. It's our fault and I include myself, but will we repent, naw! We'll just debate a little more on whether God's word actually means what it says.

I can not agree more. My heart grieves when I see this nation like this. All the other nations looked at US as the "promised land", so did we(I and my family) when we first moved here. But that mind-set changed over the last ten years. Mostly every youth I come across and talk to suffers with some kind of an addiction, just like me. The marriage has lost it's sanctity. Pre-marital sex is a norm and if you decide to abstain from it, then you are looked down upon. Media, has played a key role in all this. Plus, all the prosperity preachers with their watered down versions of Gospel, has many souls mislead. But to tell you the truth, this is all around the globe. So many of my friends, back in India, has stopped covering their heads in church just because, Americans and Europeans don't do it. I pray - that's all I can do and that's all is needed.
