God establishes civil authorities. He did it in ancient Israel, and He does it in pagan countries as well. They are there, ideally, the mitigate the sinful tendencies of humans and keep order in society.

Besides, if you believe that we ought to let the guy / gal go untried, and they turn out to be guilty, they'll just repeat their crime and someone else will get hurt. If you love your neighbor, and you're chosen for that jury, you will judge as rightly as you are able.

I do agree. You can lose a week or two (or more) in salary. I know this has to be done, but I do wish there was a better way to acquire jurors.

2 vast differences in judging here. God is not here on earth to judge every crime. our appointed & elected judges were trained in that field. my decision on answering the call to judge was & is, "no, i'm not going to serve on jury duty". i never have & never will!

I would refuse Jury duty.. I would make it known to the judge that i cannot declare a person guilty because of my religious beliefs they disqualifying me as an appropriate candidate for jury duty..

I don't think people find it easy to be on jury but if picked then its something you do as a citizen/part of your community. There's 11 others so its not just on you.

You don't have to say a person is guilty! You make up your own mind if someone is guilty or not. They could be NOT guilty.
The judge is the one that makes the final decision, you are just helping them by considering the evidence (or circumstances) it is not decided until the jury is consulted...at least that is how the justice system is MEANT to work.

Why do we have juries. Well didn't Jesus have 12? They were meant to pray for him too, but they all deserted him.

No. The presumption is innocent until proven guilty. Unless the prosecution makes the case that the accused is guilty beyond all reasonable doubt, not guilty. If the accused is proven guilty of a "crime" not worthy of punishment, not guilty.

In my state jury duty is something people really want to avoid. In capital cases all it takes is saying that you are opposed to the death penalty and you’re off, but in other cases all you have to do is letting the court know that you’ve already made a decision based on the rumors you have heard.

Sad thing is that this makes the jurors being the people not smart enough to avoid jury duty.

Obey the laws of Caesar for the glory of God. I do not think serving on a jury harms ones Christianity. We should do our Civic duty for the glory of God.

apply wisdom in your thinking & decisions. if you vote someone guilty, that person may haunt you when out of prison!
