Ok, so i know homosexuality is a sin, but this sin is just like any other sin and i believe that if a homosexual accepts Jesus as his savior, then he is forgiven for his sin. The thing that bothers me is, that some Christians see homosexuals as people with this really really bad sin stuck in their hearts, when it is really a sin like murder or hate. Even my dad tells me not to go around with people like that. I think its wrong, that we should accept everyone and love everyone and live the judgment to God.
This subject been stuck in my head for a few months now so um... what do you think? any opinions?

I'm struggling with the same problem at the moment, since a very good friend of mine recently came out. I really can not approve of his new life style, but i don't want to lose him as a friend too.


The Bible is very clear when it comes to homosexuality: both Leviticus and Romans state it's a sin. Other scripture also speaks of it as a sin, although more indirectly. True, when we are reborn our sins are forgiven, but didn't Jesus also say to the prostitute "to sin no more?" This means, in this case, if someone accepts Jesus as his saviour he must stop his homosexual lifestyle too. Maybe homosexuality isn't as bad, as for instance, murder, but if somebody choses to be gay he is still going against God's will, and that is bad enough as it is. Also, Genesis tells us that man shall chose a wife, that we shall go out and multiply. People were created to procreate, and not the have unnatural intercourse or desires.


A sin is what goes against Gods will and commandment. Any sin, how big or small, is still a sin.


Yet... i was taught to hate the sin, and not the sinner.

Well, I would like to point out that as a Christian we are to hate the sin yet love the sinner, and these are two completely separate things. I mean you are right trying to stay away from hateful people, but at the same time it is right to hate their actions and what they have done through sin. Sometimes people really don't consider homosexuality to be that big of a sin, that it is far from murder or theft. Well this is not true, I personally consider it blasphemy, in the sense that they are mocking God by desecrating marriage, which God made to be a holy union between a man and woman. What they have done is very very wicked, and it needs to be taken more seriously than how so many people have been taking it.

However, we must still also recognize that we are just the same as them, we are all sinners and that none of us are even worthy of what God has already done for us, and no man can ever become worthy. God loves us anyways, and did this for us, for every man. The homosexuals have a way out, they can choose it if they want, and we need to pray for them, that all of the confusion which Satan has brought upon them will go away and that they see the truth about all of this, and repent of their ways.

I have never met this person, yet I know he isn't Christian just because he considers himself a homosexual. There is no such thing as a homosexual Christian. When you consider yourself to be homosexual, you are committing a sin without the will to repent. You HAVE to repent of your ways to be a part of the church of God, and fully submit to the will of our Lord.

They might say that they are Christian, but these are just words, and words themselves are meaningless. What truly matters is their actions, because their actions are the fruit of the spirit, and by this fruit you can identify this person for what they are truly like.

You are saying something that is very common, but you have a good heart and desiring that they be forgiven. It really is not just like any other sin for a few good reasons and just consider these reasons when you have the time to reflect.

1 - The lifestyle and desires of their heart go against nature and what God created with male and female, because a man is made for a woman and a woman for a man.

2 - As a rule, they must take their position by force. What I mean is... because they have been rejected through the order of nature set up in creation and disapproved by God, in order for them to be accepted by others they must force others to accept them the way they are and not just tolerate them but approve of them as an acceptable norm

3 - They will never be fulfilled in any relationship they have with the same sex because a man is fulfilled only by a women and not by another man in marriage. A marriage relationship can only be consummated between a man and women, making them one flesh.

4 - Two men or two women, no matter what their feelings are for one another, can not consummate a marriage, they can not have the pleasures that can only be experienced between a man and woman, even if they have tried it before, and they can not reproduce and multiply after their own kind to raise a family as God intended.

5 - There relationship, no matter how compatible it may be or how long it may last, will never have the substance, virtue and uprightness to glorify the living God that created male and female, with the man being made for the woman and the woman for the man.

I still do not believe it would be appropriate calling them "Recovering Homosexual Christians" just because when we turn it all over to Christ, we are recovered. All Christians have committed some sort of sin in their life, however what's done in the past is done. Through Christ we look at both the present and the future, and the sins of the past no longer matter, so it does no good identifying the person with their past sins because they are already forgiven.

Besides that though, I think you are right in what you are saying.

Nope, we are supposed to love that person because he is your lost brother/sister, however what they have done isn't something minor. They just have to come to Jesus, so he can forgive them.

I disagree with you. I am gay and Christian. Although I have never and will never act upon my feelings I am still gay. I have had a same sex attraction from the time I was 12 when most other boys were realizing their attractions for girls. Although I have prayed and struggled with this I don't see my attraction changing. I want to be what God wants me to be so if I suddenly become straight I will let everyone know, but as of right now I am still gay. Although I will never identify myself as gay off of the Internet for the simple reason of Christian like you who say I can not be gay and a Christian. I have said it before(I don't think on here), but when a discussion about anything "gay" comes up I feel that it is just a bunch of straight people, whom never dealt with gay feelings, trying to solve the gay "problem."

I act like a Christian should everyday although I can not say every second of everyday cause I don't think anyone can, but how am I any less of a Christian than anyone else who says they are a Christian?

Just so every knows I am not trying to say being a practicing gay is not a sin or trying to promote gay marriage or anything of the sort so please don't think I am.

So, you when you do that, you would not identify yourself as a lustful Christian, but a Christian, because we all come from sinful pasts, but through Christ our future is full of forgiveness and support for conquering this sins.

So I understand it must be hard for you, but that does not excuse it. Sin is sin, and God will help us out of that mess, just don't give up.

I have yet to give up my fight and as I said I will be what God wants me to be and if that means I turn straight then so be it. What I am saying though is I can not just turn off my attraction. I don't see a woman as I see a man. What I am trying to tell you is that change takes time. I am not going to suddenly become straight and think men are repulsive from one prayer. It is going to take time.

Let me ask you a few questions.
If a person asks God for forgiveness from the bottom of their heart and then proceeds to lead a Christian life what does that make that person?
If man is attracted to a woman what is he?
If a man is attracted to a man what is he?

I kind of am a little offended at your comment saying that just because it is hard does not excuse it. I never said it did. I know being gay is a sin as stated in the Bible. I really don't know if you meant the comment the way I took it or not and if you didn't I am sorry for taking it that way.

Equating homosexuals with murderers and haters is a faulty analogy that I don't think Jesus would subscribe to. However, your last sentence:

is not only correct, but also very commendable.

speaking of forgiveness. We all know that God forgives us when we forgive others, so really, we need to pray and also forgive. And besides that, when we cant get rid of a sin, like to stop doing it or feeling it, it stops us from seeing God and only God in front of us, and things from this world get in the way. So another question here: is the answer to this is prayer, or is there something else that we need to be doing at the same time?

Same sex attraction is a chemical attraction that takes place in the mind and in cells of the fleshly body. It is associated with the lusts of the eyes and the lust of the flesh that can begin at a very early age. It does not have to be triggered by some event but it can become distorted by an event that happens in childhood or later in life. The mind is a funny thing when it comes to identifying inward feelings and emotions associated with impulses that go on in the appetites of our fleshly mind and bodies. If we lack good sound knowledge and understanding concerning these impulses, we can be carried away and identify ourselves with them because they are happening in us. If this continues, we give them a place as part of who we are. This is where a distinction has to be made as to how we let these impulses identify who we are as a person of flesh and blood and who Christ has made us to be as a new creature through the new birth.

Satan is our adversary and is seeking whom he can devour. There is a confederated host of fallen angels and demons that are organized as an intelligent kingdom on this earth to hold people captive and in bondage to sin, to iniquity, to the flesh, to weaknesses and too all the things that are in the world through many different forms of lust. Satan wants people, who are created out of the dust of the earth, to identify with these lusts patterns that go on in the flesh of men and women that he can manipulate to make up this world system and environment in which we live.

Satan and his demonic host have had thousands of years to be very knowledgeable with wisdom and understanding about these lusts patterns and how they effect man and how man responds to these to make up his disposition in the pride of life. His wisdom is made up of that which is earthly, sensual and devilish. Earthly, as to the source of what makes up the flesh of man and all of man's creature comforts, sensual, as pertaining to the soulish animal life of man with all of his desires and appetites of the flesh and devilish, which points to that which is demonic in imaginations, thoughts and doctrine for the purpose of beguiling, seducing, deceiving and sifting people. All of this kind of wisdom is devised to devour and destroy the capacity of individuals and to blind the minds of those that live in unbelief from being able to receive the word of God, to believe it and be saved.

It is absolutely a strategy of Satan to have as many people as possible to identify with those who are troubled by these impulses, desires and appetites associated with same sex attractions. He wants their confession to be according to that identity to make it real and give it validation and justification as a normal and functional part of the life of the flesh. This strategy, at the first, causes great division in the members of the human race, but has the ultimate goal to be a functioning catalyst to unify man and to give man one voice in favour of individual rights and freedom to sexually express themselves in any way they seem fit with adult consent. This is done strategically and by force over a period of time through the diabolical influence of those who are in high places and have the power and ability to give this desired outcome and hold others that oppose it as hateful, hostile, intolerant and inhuman.

Take it from there and come to your own conclusions, I know what mine are and have much in God's word that reveal and support these conclusions. Say what you will and have your own convictions but make sure you have the mind of Christ, through the Spirit and the written word, on the matter.

Agravesx -- If we repent our sins Jesus will forgive our sins, but some of us fall backwards sometimes. We go back to what we know. Drugs, alcohol, sex - Straight / homosexual - so we are always recovering from our past. Jesus just forgives and the Holy Spirit is trying to lead us in the right path, but sometimes we stop paying attention and want our wants
