We try to welcome everyone to our site including people who grow up with Catholic tradition because of course we want to lead people to the truth.

But sometimes it's perceived that we tolerate error and heresy. Please understand first of all that we don't screen every thread and post in this forum. YOU can help with that. :) If there's something that you really think we should deal with, then use the Report button (there's a Report button on every post). But please understand that there will be some error and we don't remove all error or even all heresy from the site, partly because it's an opportunity for Christians to correct it and respond with the word of God. But if there's too much of it or too much from one person then we do some housecleaning. We certainly don't want our site to be dominated by Catholic heresy or whatever heresy or error, and we don't want people to get the impression that we just tolerate all of that.

So for the record, Catholicism is heresy. That's what the admins of this site believe.

Mary WAS A SINNER.

She needed a savior, just like you and me.

She is NOT the "mother of God". God has no mother, because God is God. Yes Jesus is God, and Mary was his mother, but we have to understand the dual nature of Jesus. He was 100% God yes, and also 100% man. Mary was his mother as a man, not as God. No where does the scripture refer to Mary as the "mother of God". And in fact, she's not even mentioned in all the epistles. All the New Testament instruction to the church is all about Jesus, not Mary. They never said "hail Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners". They always said JESUS .. JESUS... JESUS.

This is preaching to the choir for most people here. But it regularly happens that we start to accumulate Catholics here who really promote and argue their Catholicism, along with all the heresy.

So for the record, if anyone wants or needs to hear it, we don't agree with Catholic heresy. And yes it is heresy to exalt any other human being as sinless to the same level as Jesus (as the Catholics do with Mary -- they actually teach that Mary was sinless like Jesus!!!), and put equal focus on a person other than Jesus.

At the same time, we understand that no one is born a Christian. That's why Jesus said you must be born again. So we welcome all who are seeking -- Catholics, Muslims, homosexuals, and even protestants who are "Christian" only by tradition -- to experience our fellowship here on this site and learn the truth that Jesus is the way and the truth and the life and no one can come to the father except through Him. And there is only one God, and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. Because he was both 100% man and 100% God, that makes him the perfect mediator between man and God. That's why the scripture also tells us to go straight to Jesus -- go to the throne of grace with confidence, knowing that he can understand our weaknesses and everything, since he lived as a man like us (and even experienced all temptation). Hence we don't need Mary to go to or go through -- that defeats the purpose of Jesus.

I saw my mother-in-law die before my eyes putting her faith in Mary. Days before she died I asked her if Mary can save her and she actually said yes. Then in her dying moments, my father-in-law pushed me in front of her to pray for her as she was dying before our eyes. I simply prayed out loud in front of everyone that she would put her faith in Jesus, and ONLY JESUS. There was protesting in the background "wala na Maria? wala na Maria?", which is Filipino language for "No Mary?? No Marry??". You see how deceived they all are. It is sad. You see how the devil uses that poison to add something to Jesus.

So I hope it's clear what we believe and we hope that we can promote the truth here in love.

P.S. what prompted me to post this is a couple of complaints that our forum contains a lot of heresy, including Catholic heresy, and also I just now removed a thread that was basically promoting praying the Rosary.

I think in a way this was kind of expected. The site really has no statement of faith and hence it presents itself as being a non-denominational Christian forum (albeit one dominated by Evangelicals). You could make a separate sub-forum for the discussion of teachings you consider "non-Christian" and make a SOF that you must assent to in order to post in certain boards.

In a way this was kind of asked for as well; there is a lot of Catholic bashing that goes on (and some legitimate debaters among them) and those threads often come up in the first pages of Google results. This naturally attracts Catholics who will defend their Faith.

If you want to turn the site strictly into a "fundamentalist" forum you can, but it risks becoming like the forum which shall not be named.

Sincerely,

Your Local Papist.

I guess it could become a forum like the catholic forum, where they ban people who want to discuss christianity.. But I pray it does not become like that.

Robo, thank you for clearing everything up. It's great that we can truly promote the gospel in an effort to give the whole truth to those who are in need. We have to remember, that giving God's truth in love is what we must do... and oftentimes love can hurt or clash against preconceived notions. :)

EDIT: This thread should be stickied :)

I know the forum you speak of, and no they don't do that, as is evidenced by the fact that the non-Catholic religions section of that particular site is very vibrant.

But anyway I had a different forum in mind.

This is a CHRISTIAN chat. There is such thing as a CATHOLIC chat and it's not here on this site. If people here are interested, they'll look for it.

Way to go, OP, you rock.

The gospel is to be preached among all the nations to every creature and that includes those that consider themselves to be of the Catholic faith. If any believe upon the name of Jesus Christ for salvation and the forgiveness and cleansing of sin through the blood of Christ they are saved and born again and are members of the body of Christ. Concerning doctrine, it is the job of the Holy Spirit to lead them to a man of God that can teach and preach the word and doctrine so that they can be sound in the faith.

There is much in the RCC that is not sound doctrine and needs to be addressed little by little allowing them to grow in grace AND knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is going to take conviction through the word and Spirit to deal with those areas of doctrine. The greatest hurdle for most Catholics is to learn the grace of God through the finished work that was accomplished on the cross. They are very much works oriented and trusting in their moral goodness as a platform of being acceptable to God.

They are not the only ones that have this hurdle to overcome either. Most Catholics respond to the love of God and teachings of the life of our Lord recorded in the gospels. It is a proven way to win their hearts as it has won our hearts. Always magnifying Christ and putting Him first and in the forefront of their understanding can be used by the Holy Spirit to lead them into much of the truth. We have to minister the grace of God to all people and in every place for them to see the light of the glorious gospel.

The title "Bible Discussion Forum" explains the site's intentions. Catholic tradition is not in the Bible and thus is not a Bible discussion. The Bible can only refute Catholic tradition. This is the reason for what the Catholics call "bashing." We are not "bashing" Catholics, we just cannot except tradition as equal with Scripture and the Bible does not support Catholic tradition. They should not be suprised that their post are removed; they are not in the right forum.Catholic tradition is not a Bible discussion.

**Catholic tradition is not a Bible discussion.**
But it is wise to have those traditions presented so that they can be scripturally refuted. Just as with that one post that was deleted as concerning the Rosary. In my refutal, I posted the 15ish promises Mary gave to those who would pray the Rosary. My main point was that she is treated as a goddess who is able to secure salvation for them, even promising them protection. From that post, it can hardly be denied that she is the goddess of their god. But anyway, some must be presented so that Truth can be presetned.

You must be speaking of a different catholic chat. I went there as a catholic in this very room asked me to because I questioned "gates of hell" Even while I was there. I had a few call me a basher. and a few say I was sincere. Then I woke up the next morning. and BANNED as a catholic hater. I never did figure out of the ones I was having and apparent opened minded discussion with answered me, or were playing me and banned me.

Here's the problem. and I am being sincere and not bashing anyone.

1. The eucharistic communion OFFENDS ME, My God died once to save mankind, he paid the penatly for ALL sin as John said he would. and to sacrifice him weekly over and over, and still not be assured of eternal life is offensive!

2. Your sacramental works based Gospel offends me. It mocks of my saviors death, and says mankind must be part of the solution.

3. Holding mary as the "mother of God" is a major offense to me, it wreaks of paganism and holds mary as equal to Christ.

4. Saying only certain men have been given infallible interpretation offends me. It says the Holy Soirit, who was given to me is not powerful enough to teach me anything.

5. Saying one can lose a grace gift given by God offends me, It says I can somehow earn my gift. which means it was no gift at all, but a trick by God to get us to do his will.

I could go on and on, but you get the point. You should also see that of these things MANY churches hold to these doctrines. So it is not just an anti catholic thing, it would be anti all the churches which hold to these doctrines. But it is not even that, it is just my belief. I am not bashing anyone, which brings me to the most heinous of all crimes

If I come in and preach my belief on these and other doctrines. I am called a catholic hater or basher. Yet, If you come in here offending me with your doctrines, it is perfectly fine, You are not a hater or basher of me. Thus we come to this conclusion.

We are not to offend you in any way, and hare dare we think we have the right to speak our own personal beliefs, but you are perfectly fine to offend us any way you want, and how dare we question you when you do offend us.

This is the most hypocritical, arrogant pride filled stuff I have seen from any church (except for maybe the boston church of Christ, who I witnessed beat people to a pulp who left their church, (Oh wait, your church executed many thousands who believed as I do) )

It is no wonder your church is so hated, it is not for your doctrines, your doctrines are not church specific, many others follow them, it is for your hypocrisy, your pride and your arrogance!

If the tone of this post is indicative of the tone of your posts there I can understand the ban. That particular site has had problems in the past of being overrun by people from the site which shall not be named (hint it is operated by Matt Slick), so when new members open with posts that have the tone yours would they usually get banned.

You see this is exactly what I mean. You don't even respond to what is posted. You just assume. It seems this is all you know how to do.. I already explained that it was not how it went. I made this post just out of letting off steam. and showing how I feel. The fact is the arrogant statement which was made about this thread is what finally made me open my mouth to show you all how I feel.

As I said, I came in there with an open heart. and asked genuinely. A few came after me, and a few even stood up for me. (which suprized me) and we were having a good discussion. Try for once in your life to stop assuming things. You people always seem to have an answer to justify whatever it is your doing.

Look, this is how I see it.. There ARE some Catholics who put their faith in Jesus..

even protestants can put their faith in other things.

A lot of modern Christians put their faith in the way they live to save them.

Or they worship, worship. Or church buildings, or bibles, or even their pastor.. We got to realize, we start this thing WITH Jesus, and that's how it is the whole walk through.

Thank God for the reformation!

That's my two cents.
