After seeing so many guys and very young women's posts here, it is strongly on my heart to talk with the OP woman to woman. While masturbation can lead to sexual addictions for men which can have extreme consequences, it can also lead to sexual addictions in women that can have far more life-altering consequences. For whatever reason, men are better able to separate sex from their emotions. Women are wired differently. For us, sex/passion/love are all rolled into one and we can easily mistake lust for love, whether that lust is our own or a man's. I truly believe this is why the scripture Robo quoted is directed to the "daughters".
Before young ladies are exposed to the fire of passion that masturbation can ignite, we really don't think about sex very much. We're curious about it, but it doesn't have as strong a pull over us as it does over men. But once that fire is lit, we're in the dangerzone. We can become addicted to that passion and go searching for it from man to man to man, oftentimes, as I said above, confusing it with true love. I'm sure you have read story after story in these forums about women who have been left with crush hearts, bruised emotions and with child. I'm sure you've also read how difficult it is for them to build healthy relationships with men at that point and eventually marry a good guy. Hopefully, I don't need to say how very difficult this is for the children born into these situations.
This is what God sees when He sees us begin to dabble into sexual activities that can easily and quickly control us, rather than our having control over them. It must be heartwrenching for Him, don't you think? Perhaps this will be helpful to think about while you ponder the matter.
I pray that you will draw close to God and be spared the wrong paths other women have found themselves upon. God bless.

YES that's an excellent point Julianna, it needed to be said! While for men it is physical, for women it is both physical and emotional- and that is a part of the addiction when women get into it.

That does make sence. Because I've noticed that for me, even after I've finished my buisness, I still find my heart and body still wanting for an actual guy. A particular guy really, and that alone has made me cry, and think about doing stupid things!!!!! But I still would not consider it a sin, but I guess it could LEAD to a sin.

Actually you are completely wrong on this. Children do not start experiencing guilt until later in their life. Earlier in their life, there is a trade of autonomy for obedience.

Lust is sin... and I'm pretty sure you have to lust to masturbate, so yeah masturbation is sin.

Those are strong words my friend! You've got your opinions, I've got mine. I'll stick my guns with my original answer, based on what I've learned in my life span and development studies- but I will agree that the actual, mature version of guilt does not come until after a certain age, until they are over their egocentricity and they are able to fully process what they are feeling.

From what I read in the bible, it talks pretty clearly about ejaculation which is related towards masturbation. For the most part, if you do masturbate, what are your thoughts? Cause I find it hard to believe that people can masturbate to clean thoughts. If they can, then they are completely wasting their time. You might as well do something else better with your time than "have sex with yourself". Masturbation is having sex with yourself to make a point. That's how I see it and that is what I've heard. I also agree with Kings Truth post. This subject is a personal conviction. So if you feel it is a sin, then it's a sin. If you don't feel its a sin, then its not a sin to you. That's my take on this.
It is not masterbation which ignites that fire. The fire is a part of our nature, inherent in "Be fruitful, multiply, and subdue the earth." If it were not so, man/woman would have no inclination to procreate, regardless of whether one actually enjoys recreational sex or not.
St. Thomas Aquinas used motion as a reason for God's existence, which includes God working within us, even in our own nature.

I recently was part of a discussion on overcoming addiction. I don't think you necessarily have to be a technical addict to relate. I believe it can be applied to all of us and our sins of choice. It's the addiction cycle.
There's a trigger. You have to learn to identify the trigger. It may just be seeing a hot chick or and Abercrombie and Fitch ad, but it also could be something tugging at abandonment issues, a need for legitimate intimacy, etc. There's an acronym: HALT. I've heard it explained a few ways but most commonly Hurting/Angry/Lonely/Tired. These are common triggers for all of us. This is the easiest place to end the cycle. Next is the reflex. Following is the ritualization. This is when you start planning how to sin... You close the blinds. You call to make sure you know when so-and-so is returning, etc. Then there is commitment. You do it... whatever it is. Then consequences follows... Usually there is shame and guilt which end up triggering the cycle to continue. It's important to remember that you CAN escape at any point in the cycle. Though it will hurt more and more the further you get into it. After a certain point, you HAVE to call someone. You cannot do it on your own.
I have a friend. God bless her. She is blunt. But her bluntness is healing. You all can fill in the blanks because I fear if I said exaclty what she said it may be erased... Much of what we deal with in the way of addiction is the simple iceberg effect. We are reacting to a current circumstance through the lense of a past hurt. But, sometimes we just have a physical need and that's all it is. God created it and He can deal with that too. Yeah, it sounds weird; but God WILL give you the release you need if you ask and trust Him to.

To say masturbating is obligated to lust is drawing a conclusion that isn't there. You can masturbate without lust.

I never knew that. Can a man be erect and masturbate without lust? I wonder how?
Just don't think about anybody. It isn't hard. Not every erection is brought on by looking at women.
